High Times for States’ RightsPosted on Oct 19, 2009
The Justice Department is officially going to quit harshing the mellow of the 13 states that have medical marijuana laws on the books. Dispensaries and patients will no longer have to worry about federal raids—unless they’re “drug traffickers who hide behind claims of compliance with state law.” Read the Justice Department’s memo to U.S. attorneys here. —PZS

With the economy in the tanker and no real end in sight, now is the perfect time to legalize marijuana and tax it. Not only will it add to the economy via tax revenue, it will end the millions spent on this ridiculous “war on drugs” that can never be won.

By legalizing marijuana we would take half of the drug gangs money away from them in an instant. That’s how we win this stupid Drug War. By ending it.

With PatrickHenry. this will help get rid of a big chunk of the underground drug market and put the dealers out of business. Let’s get real and grow up.

“Will not be a priority” doesn’t mean they won’t still do it. So, what, it’s on the back-burner now?
I second PatrickHenry, though I would add that people should be able to grow their own medicines FREELY, without taxation. Anything else is slavery.

Clearly a states rights issue.
Tax and regulate cannibis use, while they’re at it legalize hemp production for fiber, oil, feed and a myraid of other job creating uses.
