On the map, not an Afghan flag in sight!  Why is that?  And what does it have to do with not being able to stop the war there?  And who gives orders to whom?  And who coordinates it all?  And how often do they meet? And how much do they know about Afghan history and culture?  And do they even share the same goal? If so, to what extent, and specifically on what terms. (Ah, if only all those flags were United Nations Peace Keepers and UN Children’s Fund people and that terrible communistic group UNESCO!)  And if only the Afghans had asked for help from all these foreigners.  But alas!

Some generals put in power during the previous Administration want lots more troops and say that’s what they need to “win” the continuing war.  Wonder if President Johnson,... I mean President Obama, will listen to them.

The Nazi motto was ” Guns, not butter.”

With the economic situation of working and non working people around the world now, it could be, “Guns, not margerine.”
