WSJ Columnist: Cheney in 2012

Cheney
White House / David Bohrer / Archive

In a move that might spur some anti-Bushie types to nervously consult the Mayan calendar, The Wall Street Journal’s James Taranto has offered up none other than Dick Cheney as his pick for president in 2012—under the condition that the former veep is right about how to deal with the threat of terrorism.  —KA

James Taranto in The Wall Street Journal:

It’s nice—but potentially dangerous. If the Bush administration’s policies really did keep us safe for 7½ years, then it stands to reason that the Obama administrations’ policies may be endangering us now. Certainly that is how the public would see it in the event of another terrorist attack.

If that happens, heaven forbid, Obama will be seen to have failed in the most basic presidential duty, and the Bush administration will be vindicated. As inconceivable as it may seem today, the 2012 election may end up turning on national security. Republicans would be wise to nominate someone with both toughness and experience. Under such circumstances, it’s hard to think of a better candidate—assuming, of course, that he could be persuaded to run—than Richard B. Cheney.

he cant win, so let them have at it. Assholes. Its absurd to the extreme

This background drumbeat of “Attack the uS so Obama will fail” is disgusting.

But, out of this crowd, what’s new?

Gawd someone is still reading the WSJ?

If Cheney ever comes close to admitting any legally damming information, he will suddenly have a heart attack or something else will happen to keep him from talking. These folks will do him in a heartbeat, because he’s a puppet and other people are pulling the strings.

Dicko Chainsaw Cheney has NO INTEGRITY NOR CREDIBILITY. He is a proven liar who lacks any human qualities whatsoever.
He also stated, but has obviously forgotten, that he was terrified of everything, all of the time after 9-11 happened. Got really paranoid, not the stuff a leader should be made of. I hardly believe that he was afraid, the only thing he was afraid of was getting caught doing something illegal. He knew exactly what he was up to, taking away our rights and freedoms to the point of even debating with the Bushco corrupt GOB’s of another disaster to finish taking what was left of our rights away from the American people, even if they had to do it themselves, just as they did with 9-11. Otherwise, why did they refuse the experts to investigate the scene after it happened, what were they hiding?

His heart(he really doesn’t have one) condition alone should disqualify him. His lack of service for most of America with the exception of only the rich neocons, MIC, Wall street and the big corps and pharma, ins, etc and especially Halliburton and Blackwater should be warning enough and his past track record of his years as VP are proof enough to see he is unfit to serve. DO we really need to restart the massive SHADOW GOVERNMENT and return back to the dictatorship of the last 8 years of republican lack of rules for them and more on the little people? I don;t think so.

Look out the NWO, FEMA camps, abuse of power, less freedoms, more wars, more $$ for the ober-riche, less jobs, higher living cost for the people whom he does not serve, more spying on Americans, all because he admitted to being paranoid after 9-11, he sees enemies everywhere that do not exist and if another repug gets into the WH, you can kiss what is left of America good-bye, as they did a fairly good job of leaving office with America circling the toilet.

Taranto is presumably not stupid, and therefore we can assume he has considered
the fact that if the very sickly Cheney were elected president in 2012 (and
assuming Cheney could even survive until late January 2013 to be sworn in), he
would likely die in office, passing the helm to his Vice President.

Taranto must have thought this far ahead, and so he must have in mind whom he
would like to see Cheney pick as his running mate. How interesting that Taranto
doesn’t say anything about this.

This is hopefully a dramatic device and not a real wish. If it is a real position than it goes to show what people who bother to think already know. That is, if we do not prosecute officials who willfully break our laws and dismiss our core laws for governance, our country will fail. The Corporations will destroy us with out any fear of retribution.

Why did we give our tax money to the rich who stole our money, without at lest punishing some of them for their crimes? Which of course, brings us to why do we not prosecute elected officials who by their own words reveal that they broke the oaths of office, were dishonest in the most basic ways. Why isn’t Cheney at lest in Jail awaiting trial. If we are to wimpy to do it, send him to the Hague. As a good part of his fortune was made from violating his responsibilites to the country, why not start by freezing his assets until we can sort out if any of his wealth was gained by honest endeavor? What did Cheney and the Energy Industry talk and agree to in that secret meeeting. He was our employ at the time and we should know.

During our years of demonizing the Soviet Union as the great Satan, one of the more mentioned ‘symptoms’ of an evil belief system was the Soviet rationale for its sometimes murderous policies as being necessary - the end justifies the means.

And now 50 some years later a former US Vice President is spouting the same rationale in his defense of torture - in fact it has become his primary defense.

Where’s the Journal’s (a famously anti-communist rag in its day) challenge to Cheney to defend what was once indefensible?  Instead, at least one of their writers suggests that he would be a good choice for president in 2012?

(I’m still waiting for an explanation of why we suffered no terrorist attack between 1993, the attack on the World Trade Center, and 2001 - when Cheney was not torturing people to keep us safe.)

If Cheney were truly innocent, he would be screaming that wonderful Bushism ... “Bring it on!”  Why would he fear an independent inquiry into his perfectly “legal” actions?  It would vindicate everything he did as president (oops ... VP).  Of course, even he knows that torture is illegal and he would face serious jail time were this special prosecutor to ever look at his actions.  So he is swinging hard and furious to get his base riled up.  I’m also sure he is calling the WH daily for reassurance that his name isn’t on any lists to be vetted during the inquiry.  I just hope the international court at the Hague starts looking at him seriously.  It just takes a single country to lodge a complaint.  A jail cell at the Hague would be a fitting place for Darth Cheney ... just down the hall from the butcher of Sarajevo, Radavan Karadich.

It sure is fun watching poor old Dick Cheney stumbling all over the right wing airwaves, desperately trying to poison the jury pool and dodge a VERY long stretch in a federal prison. I only saw clips of his “interview” with Chris Wallace on FOX Noise on Sunday. Someone described it as a starry-eyed teenage girl interviewing one of the Jonas brothers.

It sure is funny observing the meltdown of Dick and Liz (Cheney - not Burton and Taylor). The trillion dollar hammer is about to hit the fan. They’re like cornered rats. Oh, man! I’m lovin’ this!

Don’t take your eye off the Cheneys. For your best entertainment bargain, these two are the show that should not be missed. We’re talking essential viewing here!

The article at the (below) website gives a brief account of April Gallop’s 911 experience and includes the full and formal text of her lawsuit against Dick Cheney.
http://rawstory.com/news/2008/911_survivor_blasts_Rumsfeld_Cheney_No_1217.html

I want to personally wish April Gallop all the best for her future, and my prayers for her well-being, and to congratulate her for her courage in the face of pressure from those special envoys from the Pentagon who pressured her to tell a different story. She is the true patriot here, standing up to this Shadow Government! If we really knew what some groups in our Govt. are doing, it would make 911 pale in insignificance. Then we would know what moral depravity is. I also want to personally show honor and gratitude to Steven Jones for publishing his paper on the presence of Thermite and Thermate at the site of 911. He risked his career for this. He is a true patriot, a scientist, who didn’t wimp out and shut his mouth. There are many more to honor so I honor them now.

How can news journalists continue to write such prattle, when important questions remain about the integrity of Dick Cheney?
The article states that if we have another terrorist attack, it could vindicate the Bush admin’s policy towards terrorists and show that he kept America safe. It could also make Obama look bad. Total crap. Perhaps some in the Pentagon could allow another (staged?) terrorist attack. Yes,then it would ensure the Military has a good budget and vindicate Bush. There are too many unanswered questions about 911. Most of the press don’t want to touch the idea that too many questions remain about 911. Why did Steven Jones get forced out of BYU as a result of his research on Thermite and Thermate’s presence at WTC?
April Gallop’s “...‘painful questions’ about the inexplicable failure of military defenses at the Pentagon that day,and especially the failure of officials to warn and evacuate the occupants of the building when they knew the attack was imminent” said Veale in a media advisory.
Dick Cheney is a man with no integrity or morals.
The real question to ask here is why did V.P. Dick Cheney not allow jets to scramble and shoot down the supposed passenger planes, ordinary procedures in place to deal with such threats, and not requiring presidential approval. There was ample time to do so. Could 911 have been allowed to happen, or better yet, staged? Have these scenarios been refuted? Far from it.
There are too many unanswered questions about 911. Americans are soooo asleep! There are enough Americans who have paychecks so everything’s alright and don’t ask those controversial questions; oh yeah, it will harm those business and social relationships you have and may cost you in the end!

My pick for president in 2012 is the mercenary who killed more Irak people doing Cheney’s terrorist prevention job.

The Truthdig will run a feature on my pick, and James Taranto will be shitting his girlie pants because he’ll fear that the Cheney goon will use him for toilet paper.

Speaking of paper, the bottom of my birdcage will no longer be covered with the Wall street Journal. The WSJ will be used to wipe the bird crap out of James Taranto photo.
