Yet Another Blast Shakes Kandahar

On Wednesday, another large explosion was reported in Kandahar, Afghanistan—just a day after a spate of bombings killed more than 40 people in that city—as the outcome of last week’s election still hung in the balance.  —KA

BBC:

The explosion was reported close to the site of Tuesday’s car bomb attack.

There are reports of casualties. A local official told the BBC the injured were being taken to hospital.

Kandahar, a Taliban stronghold, has seen a number of attacks in 2009. It comes as counting continues following Thursday’s presidential election.

I would imagine there would be weapons everywhere.  From Pakistan, from our previous aid to insurgents against the Soviet Union, from what the Soviets left behind, from the blackmarket, etc.  If you are being invaded by America you don’t play the game on our terms.  You do it this way, as nasty as it is.

It puzzles me where this seemingly endless supply of explosives is coming from. If there are factories in Afghanistan they must keep some sort of sales records. If the explosives are coming in from outside the country, especially in these high quantities, someone in authority must know about it.

People who manufacture and distribute these weapons, and set them off amongst an innocent population, must have a LOT of help.

So, who’s helping?
