Patriarchy rears its head at Oxford, where researchers find that men are twice as likely as women to be given a position in science, even when the women hold the same or better grades.

Conservatives love to claim we live in a post-racial or post-gender world, but researchers in England are reminding us of the persistent examples of inequality that mark our society. A new study demonstrates that women are less likely than men to be offered enrollment at England’s prestigious Oxford University despite having the same grades as, or even better grades than, their male counterparts.  —J.C.

The Guardian:

Women are less likely than men to be offered a place at Oxford University even when they have better grades and are from similar backgrounds, a study has found.

I have worked under so many female managers and
alongside so many strong female women running their own
business’s or control huge council/youth projects etc.
Although where my girlfriend works, it is a male
dominated environment and it shows with her lack of
promotion, wage rise and she is the backbone of the
business.
I find there are still some institutions that have to
die out before they will change

Two words:  ALUMNI DONATIONS.

Male alumni consistently donate far more money to their alma maters than female
alumni. So admitting more men means more money for the school in the future.
So lady graduates, if you want this to change, you can start by staying away from
shoe departments and sending some money for your old school instead.

Sports continues to be segregated by sex:  men’s and women’s basketball, tennis, etc.
