Many a protester—and the occasional speeding grannie—has faced off against Taser-wielding law enforcement officers. The Man now has a new rapid-fire stun gun that multiplies all of the ethical problems of gaining “voluntary compliance.” Below, a video of Taser employees zapping each other.

If you haven’t watched “Busted: A Citizen’s Guide to Surviving Police Encounters” please do—it’s free on YouTube. Through 3 vignettes, various police tactics are exposed, and our 4th, 5th and 6th Amendment Rights are explained as are appropriate phrases to use with the police (“Officer, I do not consent to any searches,” “Officer, I realize you are just doing your job, but without a warrant I cannot allow you inside my home.”)

Even if you think you know your rights, check it out anyway. You may be surprised how easy it is to fall prey to their little charades; it is especially easy to self-incriminate. When in doubt say nothing; silence cannot be used against you in court.

To the CEO of this company.  Yeah very sweet of you to select these young women to test your product upon.  They are of the invulnerable age where this can be an exciting experience, and you can say “see even delicate young women have no problem with our wonderful product”.  Well to that I suggest you do a repeat and take your grandmother, and each of these girl’s grandmothers, and the local cardiologist’s patients, and repeat your sleazy ass test.  Also when you do your little studies showing how your profitable police toy saves lives by diffusing situations be sure you factor in how many extra deaths occur because the police are so willing to use your product instead of developing their diplomatic skills.  Scum of the earth!

This article fits well with Sheer’s corporate brainwashing piece and Gore Vidal’s police state piece.  It is sickening to me to see all these talented young people and their potential being abused at this sorry assed company.

We so easily give up our rights as citizens in this country. Is it because Civics is no longer taught in school ? Or are we collectively just too damn stupid to see it for what it is. Instead of welcoming the police state , how about we push back against it for a change. How many young students or old ladies need to be electrocuted before we wake up. We don;t need more weapons in the hands of the police. We need a complete change in how would be policeman are trained to deal with our citizens on the street. We pay the police poorly, we seem to , in far too many cases, end up with individuals who simply like to be enforcers, enforcers of rules no matter what the rule is. Many times our policeman seem simply to stupid to comprehend what they are doing, they just follow a poorly thought out procedure and seem flumuxed when there is a complaint. When the cops tased an elderly woman recently in her car, their answer was ” we followed the correct procedure”. The truth is there is no excuse for that kind of behavior, by anyone, including cops. The patriot Act though conceived by the same lying bastards that brought us the Iraq War. But its still in place..why ? We have this huge umbrella dept. called Homeland Security, I guess Fatherland Security was just a wee bit to Nazi at the time ? Didn’t we have a National Guard ? What the hell were they for ? I’m sick of the trigger happy, or Zap-Happy cops thruout the country. Its time we look at how these individuals are trained.

Very irresponsible company from what I can see.  Since they promote this product to be used on the general public they need to be testing it on older people with all sorts of medical conditions, and particularly those with bad heart conditions.  I would imagine their stand will be that it is up to the police officer to make the judgement on who it is safe to use against.  That really a heart warming idea.

Once they have locked ALL of us up, maybe they will just taze and incarcerate each other.
Question:  What happens to right-wing politicians when all the real taxpayers are behind bars and no longer able to pay up ?

In the real world these dangerous weapons are used against people with varying degrees of health. They are used against people who are not an immediate threat to the public or the police. They have on the assurance of being “non-lethal” weapons become too frequently used just for control, in situations where old fashion police work would do the job.

We need very narrow guide lines for when any weapon is used and a better understanding by the police as to the rights of the citizen to be pissed off in public. Embarressing the police or the politicians is not justification for attack.

Which brings us to Gates, who was attacked by the police in his own home and charged with disturbing the police in his own home. That wasn’t racial it was stupid.

Clearly, police forces in America are at war and the enemy is the public.
