India Hits Pause on Peace Talks With Pakistan

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani waves during his meeting with India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the 15th Non-Aligned Movement summit in the Egyptian Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt, on Thursday.

Last year’s terrorist attacks in Mumbai put extra strain on the already tense relationship between India and Pakistan, and India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has put the kibosh on any neighborly peace talks until the alleged perpetrators are held accountable.

BBC:

The talks were suspended after the Mumbai (Bombay) attacks in which militants killed more than 160 people.

India has accused Pakistan-based fighters from the banned militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba of carrying out the attacks.

Pakistan has admitted they were partly planned on its soil - and vowed to do all it can to bring the suspects to justice.
