Cheney’s CIA Cover-Up

Posted on Jul 11, 2009

In a report that’s sure to surprise absolutely nobody, The New York Times revealed on Saturday that former Vice President Dick Cheney explicitly ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to keep a “counterterrorism program”—of an as-yet-unknown nature—secret from Congress. The program reportedly existed for eight years.

The New York Times:

The report that Mr. Cheney was behind the decision to conceal the still-unidentified program from Congress deepened the mystery surrounding it, suggesting that the Bush administration had put a high priority on the program and its secrecy.

Mr. Panetta, who ended the program when he first learned of its existence from subordinates on June 23, briefed the two intelligence committees about it in separate closed sessions the next day.

Efforts to reach Mr. Cheney through relatives and associates were unsuccessful.

[...] The law requires the president to make sure the intelligence committees “are kept fully and currently informed of the intelligence activities of the United States, including any significant anticipated intelligence activity.” But the language of the statute, the amended National Security Act of 1947, leaves some leeway for judgment, saying such briefings should be done “to the extent consistent with due regard for the protection from unauthorized disclosure of classified information relating to sensitive intelligence sources and methods or other exceptionally sensitive matters.”

Whatever “revelations” come out as to Cheney’s illegal activities. Nothing will come of it as far as accountability because that would require a whole lot of congressman and women from both sides of the isle to admit their complicity. Protecting the status quo is still the most important thing for our “representitives”. Whatever comes out is only used as distraction covering up the most basic of illegal activities like lying to the people and starting a war without provocation and all of its aftermath….that is what he should be held acountable for and that is the one place they , the congress, dare not go. Everything esle is pretty small potatoes in comparison, but usefull as distraction for a meduia still ran by the same bunch.

Thanks hippie4ever. This sums it up pretty well.

And yep, bedbugs too, can be dealt with.
Meantime, I KNEW this would finally make the mainstream conscious…this stuff we’ve been watching Cheney and David Addington do for 8 years.

So…NOW ya’ll are hollerin’ ‘bout accountability???????

Seymour Hersh, the US top investigative reporter, has implied that Cheney was running an asssassinatiion squad out of the vp office.  McCrystial, who Obama appointed to lead US aggression in Afghanistan, was the leader of Cheney-rumsfield murder-torture squads.  It is doubtful that Congress or the US mainsteam media will examine the matter in any detail, since it de-legitmates the presidency.  And Obama will look forward rather than backward as usual.

For all that is true of Robert McNamara, he did apologize for his crimes.

Actually he did.

Of course we should be looking forward, though keeping a blind eye on inequities or illegal actions does seem normal coming from the common DC perspective.

Accountability does not mean being held accountable and integrity requires more than opportunism requires. So in the end, nothing will happen. Yes, looking forward is more important than looking backward. So it is to maintain status quo and make damn sure,  accountability and integrity never see the light of day?

Dick Cheney is a bedbug. I know about bedbugs: a friend of mine has been infested with them by his transexual neighbour who invited someone from India into the building. Apparently there was a breeding army inside the guy’s luggage and they broke out, and thrived. I get itchy whenever I visit because I just hate insects, except for butterflies, ladybugs and the other “nice” bugs.

Bedbugs are not “nice” insects—they’re ruthless bloodsuckers. Again, Dick Cheney is a bedbug.

It was dormant for eight long years despite a brain-meld with Karl Rove, and the resulting mess was implanted into Dubbya. Now IT has risen; the Cheney having bred a Dutiful Daughter, advances the wheel. With genetic engineering Cheney & daughter may have dozens, even hundreds of little Cheneys. An invasion of Rethuglicans resembling an infestation of bedbugs.

Insects follow a hierarchy; queen, military, workers, peasants. The CIA does not; purportedly it’s under Executive but presidents come and go, while the CIA remains. The tail can wag the dog. Cheney was an unlikely candidate for breeding stock, but a degenerate plutocracy in a post-materialist world cannot be too choosy. Any animal thing will do; bedbugs too can be dealt with.

Of course Unka Dicky was running the show. Georgie boy is criminally insane and killing anyone would be right up his alley.  Remember per PETA, little Gorgie boy blew up frogs with firecrackers for fun and games as a child. Plus, his adolescent buddy, Mr. Throckmorton, reported in The New York Times(June 2004) that he was with Georgie boy when George shot and killed frogs leaving a pond after a rain.  Remember that even if he’s criminally insane, he was still the president both George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney should be arrested and prosecuted for war crimes.

A vicepresident can throw the constitution into the toilet, act like a North Korean President for 8 years, erase all proof of his actions by erasing thousands of emails what is illegal, and all that the next administration says is “we don’t want to create a distraction in the White House by putting Cheney on trial”... wow!  welcome to a Banana Republic…

This bs started back in 1980 when the repukes saw the advantage of electing lovable clowns over serious politicians. When Reagan was questioned about the illegal war waged on the Nicaraguan people funded partly by the CIA partially by RUNNING DRUGS INTO THE US and partly by illegal arms sales to Iran while the Reagan administration was supplying Hussein with chemical weapons, he simply smiled and said “he could not remember”. And all evil and millions of ruined lives his illegal policies created were forgiven.  Such a touching moment.

This is simply a continuation of that policy and since we only have two-facets of an industrial-military for-war-profit party to vote for, nothing ever happens to the war criminals, the murders, the rapists, the thieves that steal trillions from hard working Americans and all the other political and politically connected criminals that control America.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday blessing Jesus.

The CNN article clearly stated that the counter terrorism program was never operational.  I am forced to wonder then, why now?  Why release this information and why was it leaked by a source not authorized to speak about it?  The CNN article makes good use of this leak it seems to further Pelosi’s claim that she was never told about the extent of interrogation methods, but the two don’t seem to have anything in common other than that they come from the CIA.  Is CNN now implying that the CIA lies to Congress?  Or is CNN trying to help distract us further from what the administration is doing now?  They did it for two weeks with the coverage of Michael Jackson’s death.

The full article said this program never really got off the ground, so there was nothing to tell congress about. The executive branch is not required to notify congress every time they are about to wipe their butts. Get over it. The “progressives” as they like to call themselves have been on a witch hunt for the last 8 years, while they hand over complete control of this country to Obama and company with a big stupid grin on their collective faces. We are quickly descending into chaos, and all you can look at is the past. You should start looking forward at where Obama is taking this country. If it doesn’t scare you, you are idiots.

We could debate the political-military role and abuses of the CIA for ever, yet we will never be able to reform this very unethecal institution, founded on secrecy, deceit, conspiricty and ends justifying the mean philosophy. This instition is evil through and through. What the everage citizen doesn’t understand that this institution was created to serve the interessts of the political-military complex. What is needed is a dismantling of this so-costly evil institution!

Remember when Courious George “choked” on the pretzel watching football in the whitehouse in the very beginning of his first term? That is when Big Dick made his move and George got on board to save his ass. Harriot Meyers has one of the true, George discissions. Unelectable because of his bad ticker Big Dick and the Neo-Con Cabal needed a stooge.

A bit of hope,perhaps?

Contrary to White House wishes, Attorney General Eric Holder may push forward with a criminal investigation into the Bush administration’s harsh interrogation practices used on suspected terrorists.

Holder is considering whether to appoint a prosecutor and will make a final decision within the next few weeks, a Justice Department official told The Associated Press. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak on a pending matter.

A move to appoint a criminal prosecutor is certain to stir partisan bickering that could create a distraction to President Barack Obama’s efforts to push ambitious health care and energy reform.

Obama has repeatedly expressed reluctance to having a probe into alleged Bush-era abuses and resisted an effort by congressional Democrats to establish a “truth commission,” saying the nation should be “looking forward and not backwards.”

Justice Department spokesman Matt Miller said Holder planned to “follow the facts and the law.”

“We have made no decisions on investigations or prosecutions, including whether to appoint a prosecutor to conduct further inquiry,” he told the AP on Saturday. “As the attorney general has made clear, it would be unfair to prosecute any official who acted in good faith based on legal guidance from the Justice Department.”

Newsweek magazine, which first reported the development, said Holder was aware of the political implications of having a probe and preferred not to create unnecessary trouble for the White House. Still, the attorney general was troubled by what he learned in reports about the treatment of prisoners at the CIA’s “black sites.”

@samosamo - go read Jane Mayer’s book, The Dark Side. Cheney was running the CIA. As well as DoD, FBI, NSA and whatever else he felt. He set up the VP office to be a power center and no one could do anything without his or Addington’s approval

Of course, the President was incapacitated and the Vice President had a stroke, but they knew how to keep it a secret, because the rest of us also have suffered a stroke and don’t know it.

Will Chaney be called to the carpet? Of course not.

Am I the only one that thinks that Cheney was the real “President” while W was just the cover-up for the biggest scam against the American people ever perpetrate? Iraq, Halliburton, Torture, oil prices sky up, giving names of CIA agents to the press, etc., all controlled by Cheney and those neo-cons.
What does it take to put a man in jail for treason?
Until when is Cheney going to laugh to the nation powers?

But, still, as long as the president is functioning in his office, he is the one who commands the CIA unless he is incapacitated then the vice president does or did cheney slip his little dick into the cia while w was being administered a colonoscopy?
