The House of Representatives has passed a climate change bill by a vote of 219 to 212. The bill, which was a top priority for President Obama, largely resembles California’s environmental program and requires that large American companies reduce emissions of global warming gases by 17 percent by 2020 and 83 percent by 2050.

The Los Angeles Times:

President Barack Obama scored a major victory Friday when the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to slash industrial pollution that is blamed for global warming.

The House passed the climate change bill, a top priority for Obama, by a vote of 219-212. As has become routine on major bills in Congress this year, the vote was a partisan one, with only eight Republicans joining Democrats for the bill.

The Senate is expected to try to write its own version of a climate change bill, but prospects for this year were uncertain.

“President Barack Obama scored a major victory Friday when the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation to slash industrial pollution that is blamed for global warming.” LA Times

Well, they didn’t exactly slash it. I would call it a gift for favours received via backdoor lobbyists. Obama, by the way, refuses to disclose the names of White House visitors. He fears the public will discover more than a few influence peddlers bearing great gifts that also will not be disclosed.

A more apt description: the House passed a bogus bill to fool people into thinking that something was done to alleviate pollution, while it’s actually business as usual, including a Pollution Credit Bonanza! More smoke & mirrors…

I love the language the LA Times uses; it’s pure Newspeak with its barely-controlled tone of self-righteous hysteria. As environmentally conscious as I am, I disdain using it to wrap the garbage because frankly, my trash deserves better.

The 219 to 212 vote shows this bill should never have been passed and it is most likely worded to give obama’s favorite corporations every loophole in the world to pump more toxic pollutants into OUR atmosphere for their financial benefits; reduce warming gasses by just 17% in 11 years, will never happen.
