South Carolina governor and anti-stimulus crusader Mark Sanford has vanished. Sanford gave his staff and security team the slip four days ago and managed to miss Father’s Day without alarming his wife, who also doesn’t know where he is. “He was writing something and wanted some space to get away from the kids,” she explained to the Associated Press.

Daily News:

The State newspaper reported that neither the governor’s office nor SLED had been able to reach Sanford since he left the governor’s mansion in a black SLED SUV Thursday night.

The governor’s state and personal phones were turned off and he did not respond to phone or text messages, the State said.

Sanford’s office emailed NBC to say “it’s not uncommon for him to go out of pocket for a few days at a time to clear his head.” They said he had let his staff know he’d be difficult to reach.

“Daddy, what did you write about on your naked hike?”

“The birds and the bees, son”

I see he made the milk carton, how about his picture at the post office? I still am reminded how cold hearted he was refusing stimulus money to the people of his state who wre drowning in debt, while he sat back in the governor’s mansion in comfort. Squeaky.

Oh please, somebody react, this is so juicy! I am not kidding.

According to MSNBC, it looks like

Governor Sanford went NAKED HIKING!!!

(ITW, does this prove there is a God who loves us?)

“Check out this set of facts. Fact 1: Gov. Mark Sanford went missing Thursday and hasn’t been seen since. Fact 2: His staff has since told us that the governor has been hiking the Appalachian Trail. Fact 3: Sunday was “Naked Hiking Day” on the Appalachian Trail. We kid you not.”

Could it be that he is so inconsequential that he can no longer be seen? A classic case of an empty suit.

Oh gawd, ITW, you don’t know the half of it. I was forced to live there for part of my childhood. I just wish some friendly angel had come to me then and said, “Be not afraid! Believe me, it is possible to get out of here, and the rest of the world is nothing like this!”
**********************************

I believe that!

I was in a waffle shop on the NW side of Columbia, in a residential area in 1980.

A bunch of bikers (not motorcyclists, but bikers) came in and one girl was wearing a T-shirt that read:
“God created Hondas so niggers wouldn’t ride Harley-Davidsons!”

Another time in Columbia, a guy came up intending to rob me as I was trying to fix the exhaust on my car. I shot out from under the car with a 2’ long Yankee ratchet screwdriver pointed right at his belly like a spear and he smiled sickly and took off.

No, I’m no fan of the Palmetto State!  I prefer NJ, the Jughandle State, where our state flower is poison ivy, and our state bird is the Greenhead Mosquito!

I’m at a loss with the comments - He was against the stimulus, is missing for several days with a wife & sons, and these are the comments?

So, for kicks - want to watch those boys crying their eyes out when their dad comes up dead?  I’m not big on some of the things politicians do - from either party- but I’m not too keen on the hatred coming from so called Americans posting here.

As for the state - THE PEOPLE make it what it is when they do NOTHING ... All it takes for evil to win is for good men to do nothing

Official story: He was hiking the Appalachian Trail.
Look! I see a pig flying.

Seriously, even a guvnor needs a little privacy. I hope he wasn’t alone…you should never hike alone.

The scenario is this:  He takes a few days away from the office, wife and kids for a leisurely romp in the Caribbean with the sexiest and most beautiful man imaginable.
Somewhere right now, this Gov. who despises big government and wants his privacy is enjoying his romp with the ‘man of the month.’

This is so deliciously weird, and it couldn’t be happening to a more deserving state.

ROFLMAO!
It’s so rare for us to be on the same side and this is the second time, recently.  There are a lot of good people in SC, but there are far more rednecks, televange-type “Christians” and DHs there to make it one of my less-favorite states—and that’s saying something, living in New Jersey!

Perhaps it did the honorable thing (oh, sorry, it’s a Republican; my mistake) and blew its own head off. An honorable Republican is like a virginal whore.

This is past weird who, as the first-in-line pick, to be the Republican nominee for the 2012 Presidential race, would disappear for four days and counting, while his four boys wonder where “dad” is on Fathers Day. Family Values, I don’t think so. Mental Breakdown, possibly. Killed his chances for the nomination, of course. But everyone is wondering, what’s the real story…...to be continued..

I wonder if we could get more governors to do this.

On the other hand, maybe some like “Why don’t we do it in the road” Berlusconi would be more amusing.
