In the latest bout over who was in the know about torture, President Obama’s nominee for Homeland Security intelligence chief, Philip Mudd (right), withdrew from consideration on Friday before having to disclose his involvement in the CIA’s interrogation practices. John O. Brennan, who was the leading candidate to head the CIA, withdrew from consideration for the top post because of similar reasons last November.

The Los Angeles Times:

President Obama’s pick to be the intelligence chief at the Department of Homeland Security withdrew from consideration on Friday amid signs that he could face opposition on Capitol Hill over his role in the CIA’s interrogation of terrorism suspects.

Philip Mudd, who has held a series of senior positions at the CIA and FBI, said in a written statement released by the White House that he had decided to step aside out of concern that his nomination would “become a distraction” to the administration.

RE: the country was set up to drown in the bathtub by the last two administrations etc.

Whoever administered, it wouldn’t have mattered. Of course, nobody wants to hear this, it sounds so defeatist, but I have to say that from my perspective, all evidence points to a long-running reign of power by rogue operatives in the shadows giving instructions to the front man (i.e. current tenant of the White House, whomever that might be). No mainstream pundit would ever acknowledge this - their whole business is parsing the minutia of the cover up.

This shadow network answers to none other than operatives who answer directly to global finance oligharchs. To be sure there are factions within this network and signs of their infighting do imerge: e.g. the Barksdale Nuke mutiny, the Iraq Study Group smack down of the Neocon cabal, assassination attempts on Regan and Ford, the threat to Bush on 9/11 (Angle is next!)

Obama has no choice. He was hand-picked for a mission: advance the New World Oligarchy agenda - fail all self-determinant states and do it under Left cover. Should he get a wild hair and act against his handles, his fate will probably not be so gentle as Carter’s, but rather more like that of Kennedy’s - that mid-campaign, Berlin speech, before a cheering throng, calling out for “Der schwarze Kennedy ” was pretty spooky if you’re at all inclined to see portents.

blogdog,

I have to agree with you, although, the country was set up to drown in the bathtub by the last two administrations, so,Obama more than likely will be unable to do anything about it, because he pretty much has his hands tied with all the DLC-PPI PNAC fascist in his cabinet, who will chose to continue the original PNAC fascist Plan.

Obama does appear to be trusting the enemy that destroyed everything before Obama was on the scene and then, like an infestation,  moved right in on Obama to finish the nation off.  Fascist DLC-PPI PNAC Democrats are so well ensconced on the Left that Obama may not have a whole lot of alternatives.

Obama is only one person and failed to bring in new people of his own, like I had hoped, but has surrounded himself with former corrupt known DLC-PPI PNAC fascist Democrats and it appears he is floating along with the PNAC War Plan, but maybe not.

It does appear that our nation is in for some rough and rocky roads ahead that many will fear to tread, because of the way the economy is being handled, but maybe not. The Chinese laughing at Tim Geitner when he is telling them how well the U.S. is doing is not a good sign, but maybe Geitner’s right, though it does seems unlikely.

There are some real lefty Democrats in the House that aren’t fascist, and I wish Obama would seek them out and work them into his cabinet, instead of all the DLC-PPI PNAC corruption of past failed administrations that bankrupted our country in the first place.

I certainly do not blame Obama, I blame the Reagan administration and all the administrations since Reagan with the exception of President Carter, who got blackballed by the Democratic Party because he didn’t go along with their scheme.

It does look bleak, but chin up, whatever happens, we will still have to live through it and do the best we can.

RE: ... he will be doing his best to help the people as a whole.

Of course you want to cling to the dream. Who wouldn’t? Many of us never shared this latest episode of the dream. The harsh reality of phony Left-vs-Right manipulation and the continually expanding Global War Of Terror killed it.

Sorry to report, but your hero is a wholly owned Trilateralist asset, tasked to speed (under left cover)  the descent of every nation to 3rd-world poverty levels, leaving any and all measurable wealth in the hands of the global finance oligarchy.

Obama didn’t promise perfection.  He said he would make mistakes, but that we can know that he will be doing his best to help the people as a whole.

Every which way Obama turns, there is a Republican road block set up to circumvent his plans, but he is learning and trudging on, and somehow will in the end manage to accomplish more for the country as a whole than any other president since FDR.

Obama, ‘change you can believe in.’  Where in China? In Slovakia?
Not only has nothing changed, but things are now getting worse, the policies that got us into this mess are continuing and expanding at rates hitherto unimagined. Obama, is digging us into a hole we will take years to get out of, if we do at all.
Our country, is fast becoming the laughing stock of the world and needless to say a ‘third world country’ at best.
Change we can believe in will only happen when, the government, ‘we the people’ take back control of the from the politicrats and the lobbyists. Lifelong seats in the Senate and House were not the idea of the founders of our country. The people’s House, was supposed to change on a regular basis, every two years. Now these men and women, are lifelong ‘representatives of the people’ all the while campaigning for the seats again in two years.
While this is happening, the work of the true government, the people is not getting done and we are suffering because of it.
Who knew what and when, is going to destroy the current crop of defendants, i.e. the current members and leaders of the House and Senate. In the next election cycle, look for and elect those who have the guts to stand up to the corporatocracy and the lobbyists. If we do not elect real representatives of the people we can all bend over and kiss our collective kiesters, GOODBYE!

RE:...apparently he knows much.

maybe “too much” - maybe only 2 moves left: 1) resign and write a whistle-blower book, becoming too highly profiled to snuff; 2) take a posting too sensitive to be legally questioned in public.

And, so, even more reason to question him about torture, because apparently he knows much.

They all say they are dropping out so as not to be a distraction for the administration but we all know whose hind-end they are running to cover, and it sure isn’t the presidents.
Don’t worry Mr. Mudd, you will come out of this with a very high paying position. Maybe with Haliburton.

No Doubt implications as to the Torture methods should have eliminated this guy from the list immediately but,his Resume might have well listed Senior Positions at CHOAS and The Keystone Cops.
These Two agencies have proven themselves to be impotent and inept when it comes to Homeland Security.
The CIA did nothing to block the entrance of Atta et al even though they claim they had intell they were planning an attack on our soil. Then worse is the FBI who was also given a heads up about concerns about foreign flying students (no need to learn how to land?!?) and did nothing!
The only thing they have yet to ‘uncover’ are some BS ‘plots’ by mental defects? Pizza box campoflague to get on a fully armed miltiary base? A match to a pipe line 30 miles away from an airport? A bombing instigated by one of their Own ‘covert’ operatives? Oh and mY favorite - the ONLY tall building these ‘terrorists’ could find on the West Coast was the LA Library? Space needle? TransAmerica Buiilding? Golden Gate Bridge?
Hate to break it to ya CIA and FBI we are not as Stupid as apparently your rank and file.
These Absoultely Useless, over priced Good Ol Boys clubs can’t even infiltrate and dismantle Home Grown ‘End of Day’ Jihadist who post their intentions on the Internet, illicit ‘hits’ on their Talk Shows or Print their political assasination ideation in Cartoons on their ‘Op- ed’ pages.
These Idiots can’t even keep the Homeland safe from Domestic Terrorist with only half a brain and a dime to their name.
Please Give me a Beat cop to head Homeland Security- they have the ability for Deductive reasoning and real instincts.

Article quote: “key Democratic lawmakers urged Obama to keep Stephen Kappes as the CIA’s No. 2 executive, despite Kappes having had extensive knowledge of the interrogation program.

I, for one, am curious…. which “key” democrats and what does Mr. Knappes have privy to that we all might be waiting to hear…?  The truth…. we need the TRUTH.  The American People are not so fickle as is portrayed.  Again, let the American People know what Mr. Kappes….knows.  ALSO, release the torture PHOTOS,  “Dear Mr. President”.  Release the photos.

Or…. have we morphed from a quasi-democracy to an outright dictatorship?  Pres. Obama,  release the photos.  The American People HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW.

At least, in a democracy….. they do.

Obama is not only continuing the Bushite policies on torture, while denying them, but is putting in the men in administrative positions who implemented them.
