President Obama hands a ceremonial pen to Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, as he signs the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act on Friday in the White House Rose Garden.

President Obama signed a weapons acquisition bill on Friday that aims to curb massive cost overruns in defense programs while increasing oversight and stimulating competition for contracts. The bill was passed unanimously by both the House and Senate earlier this week.

United Press International:

U.S. military weapons procurement, long criticized for bloat and inefficiency, changed Friday when President Obama signed into law purchase reforms.

“I’m proud to join Democratic and Republican members of Congress for the signing of a bill that will eliminate some of the waste and inefficiency in our defense projects,” Obama said during the signing ceremony. He said they were “reforms that will better protect our nation, better protect our troops, and save taxpayers tens of billions of dollars.”

lies & more lies; states meanwhile have passed laws such as they can go into anyones house (home invasion) under the “disguise” of “swine flu” and remove the folks there; another state can stop you & haul you away even if you do not “fail” the drunk driving test; Americans you best be ready & prepared! and “everyone” will stay by doing nothing; it is a CRIMINALLY RUN GOVERNMENT FOLKS! target & harm for PERSONAL GAIN & PROFIT; the “war on drugs” is a smoke screen; all the top dealers have had to do for decades is pay money “into the fund” of the police and hospitals; Rockerfeller’s idea; and if you go to http://www.care2.com you can sign petitions for them to stop putting chemicals into the milk, cheese & everything else. You can PETITION these “criminals” to STOP targeting & harming the children of this nation; do a search on monsanto & rumsfeld, bush & clinton & canola oil; everything in THIS NATION is full of chemicals to harm you for you to pay the same folks doing it again to “cure” you; THIS is called “democracy”; as Rush L stated since the AGENDA of BOTH PARTIES is target & harm for personal profit & gain; why have 2 parties? Answer: the people must have a CHOICE.

We need a child to walk through the streets of Washington D.C. and yell out aloud: “this emperor has no clothes”.

President Obama is not a man of peace. He is an aggressive son of a bitch.

If anything wrecks this country’s economy beyond repair, it’ll be the inability or the unwillingness of those people in Mordor-on-the-Potomac to cut back on the Empire.

Raise the defense budget, ask for nearly a hundred billion off-budget to fight the wars of choice, and then throw a bone and talk about saving “tens of billions”...great, he’s a real reformer.

It reminds me of Aspin/Clinton in the nineties (with nary an enemy in sight) saying that it just wouldn’t be possible to cut more than ten billion from the 300 billion defense budget.

Agreed, ardee. Obama could also eliminate the (lost) War on Drugs and other wars against the American people. Cost savings there and future votes as well. And there’s many military facilities overseas: I’d like to know how many and where but that’s “top secret.” You betcha! We the People, after all, only pay the bills.

No room for the elimination of bloat in our defense budget, you betcha!

If our president wishes to cut defense spending he can stop sending more troops to Afghanistan, pull those remaining in Iraq out of Iraq, seek peaceful means to resolve problems, cut the military and its budget to only gigantic or enormous amounts…..
