Israel’s Right-Wing Government Takes Shape

Benjamin Netanyahu has taken a step closer to the prime minister’s office by signing a deal with ultranationalist Avigdor Lieberman, who will become Israel’s foreign minister if Netanyahu is able to put the finishing touches on a governing coalition. The ascendancy of both men is a major blow to the peace process.

BBC:

Under the agreement, Yisrael Beiteinu leader Avigdor Lieberman would become foreign minister, said officials from Mr Netanyahu’s Likud party.

He is a strong supporter of the Israeli settler movement and opposes exchanging land for peace with the Palestinians.

Likud still needs support from other parties to form majority in parliament.

Ed, Jimmy Carter is no Hitler; he genuinely cares about peace but being an honorable man he has trouble recognizing lies and bad faith. Barak walked away when Arafat’s demands became ridiculous.

But yeah, there are a lot of little Hitlers out there. Were there not, I’d spend less time arguing with the Big Lie Jihad on this site because there are too many other progressive issues that merit more attention.

That is a lie. At the time of the peace talks, both Arafat and Barak had stated objections which were as yet unresolved; but Arafat was not the one who said that therefore the talks must end. It was Barak, in late January 2001, who ended the talks. This was made plain in accounts of the historical record written by Jimmy Carter, among others.

Oh, but of course, Sepharad, I understand: Jimmy Carter is now a Hitler, too. So many Hitlers in this world, Sepharad - how do you keep track of us all?

Fadel is quite right, the fake Peace Process is merely a screen to conceal Israeli ethnic cleansing.  Last year, under Bush’s Roadmap for Peace, Israel increased the settlers in Palestine by 67%.  The fake peacers in the US, like Inherit, don’t like this new right wing governement because it strips off the disguise of peace and is blatant about Israel’s despotism.  But of course the Zionists will support Israeli policy anyway.

But as Ed Harges pointed out, the major historical problem is that Zionists have captured both parties in America and have substituted Israeli policy for American policy.  Indeed, even the heads of US intelligent agencies, like Freeman, are displaced by agents of a foreign power, like Steven Rosen.  Rosen, who has been indicted for passing American secrets to Israel, led the attack on Freeman.  Incredible.

Israeli Firsters influence foreign policy to support the insane Lichud policies of Israel, like attacking Iran with nuclear weapons.  They have imported Israeli torture into the US, and death squads, and favor the stamping out of civil liberties.  Jane Harman, representing Aipac, initiated the thought control bill that passed the House 404-6, that would pre-emptively censor the Internet.

That is why a progressive movement in the US must be an anti-Zionist movement. Zionism is moving both parties to the right, and censors Israeli and American despotism in the learned and mass media.

Israel has, on March 3, released information that reprots that it is going to increase the settler population by nearly two hundred thousand, adding to the half milliion already on Palestinian land.  Hundresds of Palestinian homes are being blown up as a preliminary, all excluded by the mainstream American media.

A central front against Isreal is in the US.  Political leaders of both parties, including Obama, must be exposed as supporting Israel to the detrement of the American people.  For Zionist money, media and political management to get elected.
No progressive movement in the US is possible without an effort to isolate Israel.

Rarely have I read such a collection of venomous, uninformed idiocies as Fadel, Ed, beerdoctor etc offer. There are so many errors in all of them it would take a full-length book to correct them.

Arafat walked away from a peace agreement because he did not want to go down in history as the guy who let go of Palestinian claims to Israel.

There are plenty of pro-peace parties in Israel including the one I back (Meretz, which also has a MeretzUSA; its founders were out of Peace Now). You want to know why Meretz got exactly 3 seats in this election that threw up Netanyahu and Lieberman? Main reason: Hamas (and to a lesser extent Hezbollah) convinced too many Israelis that returning “occupied” territories to the Palestinians is not a very good option. Lesser reason: the liberal progressive leftish Israelis are as fractured as their opposite numbers in the U.S. but had a centrist Kadima government took hold they’d have joined and work toward a second state solution would proceed.

With the population of self-identified Jews being 0.22% of the worldwide population, compared to the billions of Moslems running around, and the fact that Israel is barely visible on the map and without the West Bank will be 9 miles wide at its narrowest point, how is it that you all feel so threatened? True, Jews have made disproportinate contributions to music, literature, education, agriculture, science, green technology etc. but that is hardly a threat to the world.

Anwar Sadat and King Abdullah were visionaries who cared about their countries and not “sell outs”. They recognized that with normal relations and economic partnership with Israel, life for most of the people in the MidEast would improve. Less money on stupid wars, more on economic growth, and fewer oil-wealth-based societies with poor masses dominated by religious nutjob elites.

The only reason the U.S. should not back Israel even more fully than we do is that because we weren’t in on the Brit and French divvying up of the MidEast, America has had to kiss up to the oil producers. If we hadn’t rescued Kuwait from Saddam, the Saudi king would probably have let Osama do it and we would not be troubled by Al Quaeda and probably would not have gone into Iraq. (BTW, those “foxy” Israelis, after their peace treaty with Sadat, gave the Sinai back to Eqypt complete with oil fields the Israelis developed there between ‘67 and ‘87.) Perhaps Palestinians have not historically been a pan-Arab cause (until the jihadis took over anyway) because they have done nothing for their host countries—like Jordan and Lebanon—but start wars. King Abdulllah’s Bedouins kicked them out in time to save his country, but the Lebanese have been screwed up ever since.

During the recent Israel-lobby jihad against Charles Freeman, the Washington Post published an astonishingly loathsome opnion piece by Jonathan Chait (of the “liberal” New Republic) in which the author explains to us that a failure on the part of any American to feel a primal, irrational, driving, quasi-erotic attachment to Israel is like being a “eunuch” who can’t understand “the way teenage boys act around girls.”

I’m not kidding. Chait actually writes:

“They [the authors of a book critical of the Israel lobby] seemed unable to grasp even the possibility that Americans, rightly or wrongly, have an affinity for a fellow democracy surrounded by hostile dictatorships. Consider, perhaps, if eunuchs tried to explain the way teenage boys act around girls.”

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wpdyn/content/article/2009/02/27/AR2009022702485.html

Is that clear, America? Nobody who doesn’t desperately desire Israel to sit on his face will be allowed to take an important post in the Obama administration.

There are a lot of American Jews who do not share your devotion to Israel, ITW. They’re not so rare as all that. It’s not just a few “Marxists”.

And I know, ITW, that you prefer to look at any situation with the hope that somehow, it can be shown that one really needn’t choose: the best thing to do will, you hope, turn out to be best for both Israel and the US. You don’t want to think of yourself as a traitor. But it’s pretty clear that if you had to choose, you would choose Israel, and that you are in deep denial about that fact. So really you should adjust your citizenship and residency accordingly.

Don’t worry; you can still control our government through your lobbyists, so it will be almost like you never left.

Thank you Ed Harges for posting the quotation of Jonathan Chait about “it is necessary metaphorically to be erotically attached to Israel.”

However, I may add that Israel is known to using IDF sexy female members for physical erotica to appeal to the lowest common denominator of young, sex-driven immature men. Actually, the last time they used this physical erotica was during the latest Israeli terrorist attack on Gaza in January, as part of what was so-called public relation. I personally saw these prostitution pictures with my bare eyes and I feel sorry now that I didn’t save the link for future proof that in Israel there are not standards of decency as all ends justify the means, even prostitution, erotica and camouflaged pornography!

This is also an opportunity to remember Rachel Corrie, the brave courageous young women who was bulldozed by an Israeli military bulldozer on March 16, 2003 in Rafah, Gaza, as she was peacefully protesting Israeli demolition of a Palestinian home. American protester shot by Israeli soldiers still in critical condition after surgery
Ma’an News Agency 3/14/2009

Bethlehem – Ma’an – An American demonstrator shot in the head by the Israeli military Friday remains in life-threatening condition after undergoing surgery overnight. “His skull is fractured. Fragments of bone went into his brain,” said Anderson’s partner, 25-year-old Gabrielle Silverman, originally from Brooklyn, New York, speaking on the phone from Tel Hashomer Hospital in Tel Aviv Saturday. Silverman said doctors had removed part of the right frontal lobe of Anderson’s brain and were working to “put his face back together,” to address trauma to his eye and forehead. The hospital is refusing to release further details, she said. “It’s unclear how well he’s going to recover. He could die. He could recover completely. He could be severely brain damaged,” said Silverman, adding that Anderson’s parents are on their way to Tel Aviv from San Francisco.”

The recent jihad by the Israel’s attack dogs (including “liberals” like Israel-worshipping Chuck Schumer) reached a new level of overt absurdity: we are all required to have the equivalent of a teenage crush on Israel, or there’s something wrong with us.

Jonathan Chait of the “liberal” New Republic actually made explicit that in order to have such an important US government post as that which Israel denied to Charles Freeman, it is necessary metaphorically to be erotically attached to Israel.

One must be enthralled by the odor of the pheromones wafting from the pungent pudenda of Her Highness the Holy State. “Please, please! Squat on me, Salome!” Your love for Israel must make no sense, or it’s not deep enough: it’s not the hopeless infatuation required. “Rightly or wrongly”, as he writes, you must be enthralled with lust for Israel, or there’s something wrong with you, like a “teenage boy” (he writes) who fails to display the normal, natural drives ordained by nature. I’m not kidding. People who aren’t just gaga for Israel for no reason at all are “eunuchs” - defective freaks. Mr. Chait actually writes (in the Washington Post):

“They [the authors of a book critical of the Israel lobby] seemed unable to grasp even the possibility that Americans, rightly or wrongly, have an affinity for a fellow democracy surrounded by hostile dictatorships. Consider, perhaps, if eunuchs tried to explain the way teenage boys act around girls.

And it would be insane even if Israel were anything like the ‘Light Unto the Nations’ it claims to be.

Americans - especially politicians and journalists - are required to show an unquestioning, affectionate loyalty to the Israel state. It’s like we’re required to have a crush on Israel. No American who appreciates our founding principles of constitutional, secular government should display that kind of loyalty even to the United States itself! That kind of state-worshipping, nationalist fanaticism is contrary to this country’s founding principles. But our politicians and journalists are required to show that kind of irrational, fawning deference to the state of Israel. We smile and wink and wave at Israel, hoping for a passing glance, a kind word to brighten our dreary days. “Oh, look! Israel smiled at us! She really, really likes us! This whole situation seems to prove that old parable that no building can be built upon a rotten foundation. In this case, that foundation was the formation of the nation of Israel, created by falsehood and injustice that simply will not disappear, no matter how much AIPAC, Obama, Rahm Emanuel, or Hilary Clinton wish it were so.
As, of all people, Zionist Avraham Burg put it: “a structure built on human callousness will inevitable collapse in on itself.”
So how absurd is it, to read the groveling editorials in the Washington Post, who advocate dropping the charges against those caught spying for Israel, and yet at the same time fall in lockstep with that holiest of lobbies by claiming that Chas Freeman was a Chinese coddling apologist, embedded by the Saudi Arabian government!
But what else is to be expected? As Chas Freeman has said: “The tactics of the Israel lobby plumb the depths of dishonor and indecency”.

Agreed, Fadel. Americans need to learn that there is not some nice, liberal Israel of the past that has been replaced by violent meanies like Netanyahu and Lieberman. Just study the words and deeds of the “nice”, “liberal,” Labor Party Israeli leaders of the past, starting with Ben Gurion and including the sainted Golda Meir and all the rest. Read especially what they said and wrote to each other — not what they said for American consumption. They were horrible, greedy, militaristic racists who were intent on getting rid of the Palestinians and greatly expanding Israel’s borders far into neighboring states, by violent and devious means. And they have nothing but contempt for us stupid Americans who slavishly serve them because we think Jesus will bless us for it, or whatever.

We Americans should all learn Hebrew and keep up with Israeli news and politics. We can’t afford to wait till stuff is translated into English. We can’t let ourselves be limited to what they want us to know. We need to keep up in real time with what these bastards are doing, because they are running our foreign policy — and in the process, they are running our country into a ditch. “The ascendancy of both men is a major body blow to the peace process.”
====================
As far as official Israel is concerned, there was never a peace process to justify talking now about a “major body blow to the peace process.” In the Israeli political-military establishment, there are only two seasons: seasons of war and seasons of preparation for war.

So, en essence, there was never any party or political figure in Israel that ever embraced peace as a long-term strategy. There are only those who play the gimmick of so-called peace as a tactic, for public propaganda. Such were the so-called peace agreements between Israel and the sell-out leaders of Egypt and Jordan; two foxy Israeli tactics to neutralize the two major would-be players from keeping the Palestinian cause a common Arab cause.

Those who might attempt to take issue with my statements are reminded of the history of Israel’s major and minor terrorist wars against its neighbors, most of which were carried on under the so-called moderate Labor Party administrations.
