Rashidi Williams
news.bbc.co.uk

Under the proposed law, gay rights activists like Rashidi Williams, shown here addressing Nigeria’s National Assembly, would be at risk of arrest.

Not only would a proposed Nigerian law mean prison for gay people who live together, but also anyone who “aids and abets” them. A giant step beyond outlawing gay sex, the law would give police the power to arrest suspected cohabiting gays as well as human rights workers who deal with gay rights.

The BBC:

Nigerian gay rights activists have told the country’s lawmakers that a new bill to outlaw same sex marriage would lead to widespread human rights abuses.

The new law would mean prison sentences for gay people who live together, and anyone who “aids and abets” them.

The plea by activists was made to a public committee of the National Assembly which is discussing the bill.

It is already illegal to have gay sex in Nigeria but the new law would extend police powers to arrest suspects.

Infarct, I believe my eyes are failing me quicker than my mind.

The biblical story of Susana and the elders comes to mind. Artists over time have enjoyed painting this one because as a biblical story they usually depicted Susana without a stitch on.  The Biblical elders paid their dues, can not remember if they placed their hands on the bible?

Why has Nigeria been going backwards for the last 10-20 years?  In the north there was a case of a girl who was raped being sentenced to 200 lashes after her 3 rapists each put their hand on the Koran and swore they didn’t rape her—a death sentence for being a victim.

Meanwhile south and east, Uganda, Botswana, Namibia and others are moving FORWARD in their efforts to stave off unwanted pregnancy and HIV-infections.

Just go over the over population Chris Hedges post, then one can see a positive argument for gayness. Infract most posts, would provide reasons for many things excluding reason.

Really? Arresting gay people who live together… I guess that’s a Yes on Prop 8’s dream.
I still can’t believe that passed in California, liberal, San Francisco, Ellen DeGeneres loving California. Go figure.  Great report from the BBC as always, love those guys.

Gee, there must be an awful lot of Nigerians who really love gay sex, if the guardians of heterosexuality feel the need to impose such laws.

They seem to fear that if being gay were legal, everyone would convert, and reproduction would cease altogether.

How can we assure the Nigerians that heterosexual reproduction is perfectly natural and can’t possibly be wiped out? Surely there must be some scientific evidence for this….
