Is the Limbaugh Love-In a Deliberate Distraction?Posted on Mar 5, 2009
Is Rush Limbaugh’s sudden elevation to the top tier of the Republican Party a naturally occurring phenomenon ... or a vast left-wing conspiracy? Some among the GOP’s ranks suspect that the latter is the answer.

Democrats are just as guilty as RePugZ when it comes to the crisis we face today.
From Bubba’s Gergen/Morris-Triangulationist Party and the DLC’s ThirdWayers, as well as the Ruben/Summers/Greenspan Public F*ck Festival of the mid 90’s, to the principle that “we can out conserve the Conservative GOP”, both are equally dangerous. The only difference, RePugZ are lost, Democrats are weaklings.

“As Dems joined in to deregulate everything and anything, and then formulated NAFTA as answer to deregulation. DUH! And still unable to bring themselves seriously to investigate Bush & Crew. Dems are truly contemptible for their ongoing cowardice. Now, Leahy wanting a “Truth Commission.” A truth commission!? Say what, Pat? Has Democratic Congress now become confessional?: “Very well. Say Hail Mary and be on your way, no matter crimes against all of humanity.” Fine, so long as Dems appear first.)”
~*~*
‘Tis true what you say here CJ..at least part of it. There can be no denying that the dems were willing enough to join in on the deregulation, though let’s give the real credit where it is always due, which is on the side of the Cabal that led the way. Regan kicked it off, and for the most part, the destruction has been led by the Republicans, who’ve managed to lead us all right over the proverbial cliff, because too many of us weren’t paying attention, and the ones getting over intended to keep it that way. So while we can’t deny the damage of the crimes that occurred when the dems actually did go along with them, (Like Clinton signing off on NAFTA after BushI had moved it along) we’d do better to use a narrower brush to paint the individuals most responsible, (like for writing and pushing all of the deregulation to begin with) than to just say that “The Dems have always ‘joined in’.”
Be that as it may, I believe that you’re wrong about them still being unable to bring themselves to seriously investigate Cheney et al. In fact, I have believed all along, that they’ve intended to do exactly that, and some of us are watching it as it happens – in the way that it actually SHOULD go down. President Obama restored the Freedom of Information Act as one of his first official ‘things to fix’. Since then, that has opened the door for whatever it is that the Justice Department will be forced to undertake, based on the legal process. And, there’s no doubt in my mind that the Obama Justice Department under Eric Holder is well aware of this. In fact, they’ve been really busy over the past 2 months, specifically investing Bush & Crew.
Like for instance, which of them have been hiding the money they stole from us in off-shore accounts protected by the Swiss. (they recently won a very impressive victory against UBS with this). Then there’s the deal with Rove and Miers now testifying, even though the significance of that has been typically diminished by the cynics.
Now we’ve got all of the other secret documents that we KNEW of, but couldn’t actually do anything about, with more to be released soon. This is HUGELY significant in terms of building a case against the former thug regime, but it’s obviously being accomplished in ways that the average Joe doesn’t really comprehend. The changes that I’ve seen already are ENORMOUS in my view, specifically in terms of actually returning to the rule of law, and allowing the process to work as intended.
Obviously, I could be wrong, but there’s nothing to indicate that yet. Just because we don’t see the tree fall in the forest doesn’t mean that it didn’t. As for Truth and Reconciliation Commissions go, they have in fact been useful to other States/Democracies who have been overtaken by fascist regimes or other civil conflict. (Peru, Chile, Uruguay) and in the aftermath of Genocides as well. One of the biggest obstacles (specifically in terms of the abuses of former regimes and/or heads of state) is that nearly ALWAYS, immunity has been granted, (Pinochet) and the same applies to members of these regimes that REMAIN WITHIN THE GOVERNMENT APPARATUS, even after the regime itself has been removed by whatever means.

It’s a tricky thing under these circumstances, because the goals of the TRC’s are to first formerly acknowledge what has been done to the population by these rogue regimes. The other always hoped for component is JUSTICE, as in accountability and punishment. But too many heads of state have gotten away with these crimes, most often because deals are made in the aftermath of the counter-coup. And…like I said, when there are still elements of the former regime remaining within the apparatus, (having already been provided with immunity) it’s like they discovered at the Aspen Conference
A Miracle, A Universe: Settling Accounts with Torturers
by Lawrence Weschler
Everybody already KNEW who the tortures were, and the torturers KNEW that everybody knew who they were, and it didn’t look like there was a way for them to be punished any time soon. So, they ‘settled for’ at least a formal acknowledgement of ALL that had been done, and who had done it, and they got some sort of ‘relief’ from that.
Would that work here? I don’t know. I want to believe however, that KNOWING the truth about what has been done to us and in our names, and exactly who did it, can in fact be very helpful. I think that is especially true in this case, because this myth of the ‘war on terror’ and all the rest of the shit has to be exposed for what it is….a huge propaganda campaign that provided the ‘excuse’ to an uninformed population, to essentially create a fascist form of an authoritarian structure, based on the Cheney-Addington long held belief in the Unitary Executive Doctrine. And that doesn’t even consider (yet) the biggest Grand Larceny Heist in the history of the planet. I mean these guys put other former kleptocratic regimes at the pre-school level.
All of that stuff has to be exposed, and the logical place to begin, (at least in our particular set up) is a Truth and Reconciliation Commission that can assign an investigative team. Thing is, we know how previous ‘investigation’ commissions have worked…The Warren Commission, the Official 9/11 Commission, and other so-called ‘investigations’ that have never been ‘investigated’. So I honestly don’t know how or who could or would go about this. I think it makes sense for Congress to investigate it, now that the information is coming to the light of day. All the Obama Admin has to do is keep pumping it out..those 8 years worth of treasonous secrets and the cover-up of them. And a Congress that has been largely silent and/or totally ineffective under what has been a majority Repugnican dominance for 28 of the last 40 years, can hopefully get it back together.
Sometimes patience is required. The American population has seemed ‘patient enough’ in the past 40 years, to allow the destruction to occur. Consequently, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to give the repair a few minutes longer, and to possibly, maybe, even toss in the occasional effort ourselves.
Now that would be a novel approach, eh?

First, second and third, Democrats aren’t nearly so clever what with willingness (forgive all-too-apt phrase) to grab ankles as occasion warrants. Neither Carville nor Begala can be taken seriously as other than hangers-on. Especially, Begala, whose CNN commentary is akin to that of a third-grader making excuses for not having done homework.
I do enjoy Carville’s disdain for the Bill Bennetts and other blatant frauds of the world, but that’s about it. (Obviously, “It’s the economy, stupid.” At least Carville got and then said that much, which was more than any other Democrat since FDR seems to have gotten, much less said. As Dems joined in to deregulate everything and anything, and then formulated NAFTA as answer to deregulation. Say Hail Mary and be on your way, no matter crimes against all of humanity.” Fine, so long as Dems appear first.)
Almost all Dems are right-wing centrists, but for a few like Kucinich, Waters, Conyers, usually Boxer and Sanders, and a few others. Far too many, including Speaker and Leader, to make any difference.
Otherwise, did Dems organize CPAC and then demand CNN televise Kid Rush? CNN hits new rock-bottom with each passing week. Awhile back, Blitzer had on Ted Turner, who was critical of CNN. Wolf, as usual, carried on as though deaf-mute, same as he did when Moore blasted CNN a year or two ago. (Then networks trot out feel-good stories.)
Republicans, who are only minimally more right-wing than Democrats, are certainly more clever than Democrats to the degree slightly more hypocritical.
Mainstream media goes along for purposes of ratings. Which is same reason Limbaugh carries on as he does. Not just CNN, but MSNBC too, both no less than Fox. Olbermann’s been carrying on over “Boss” Limbaugh all week long, as though furtherance of the republic were entirely a function of whether or not Boss is heard. Even as Olbermann talks of Limbaugh’s false claims of ratings.
Well, Keith, if the Boss really hasn’t so many listeners, then why carry on? Ratings is why.
Limbaugh, meanwhile, is enjoying gobbling up media in the same way Bernie Madoff gobbled up wishful investors. As Boss exploits media’s (and public’s apparently) ceaseless appetite for whatever appeals to nationalist emotion. Giving Boss credit, he certainly knows how to work a crowd, including pretty much everyone both in and out of media.
(While Obama, according to Goodman this morning, agreed to seat Conyers as proponent of SINGLE-PAYER healthcare. No word about THAT from CNN, MSNBC and Fox, all too busy chatting of whether or not Boss bogey man is of Dem conspiracy.)
Not even spectacle is enough. By now, spectacle of spectacle is on order, very much like Leahy’s spectacle of a spectacle that would be “Truth Commission.” Which would be more palatable were one single pol to call it what it would be: Commission Whereby (War) Criminal Element Would Get Pass So Long As Any Says, “Sorry; Hail Mary.”
By such commissions we might speed up the entire criminal justice system such that not only would there be no back-log of cases, the entire system could take off two weeks out of every month—with pay, needless to say, in the case of socialism for government workers while the rest of us toil (or not anymore), and pay for socialism for gov workers, under capitalist private-sector yoke.

Of course!
It’s purpose is to distract the befuddled populace into believing that the two political parties are actually at odds with one another. In actuality, what we have, as Gore Vidal points out, is a one party system, with two right-wings.
Watching this carefully orchestrated display of phony partisanship, and believing that it is genuine, results in a population of people who have essentially taken their eye off of the ball.
Most Americans haven’t a clue as to exactly what is really going down here in this burgeoning dictatorship.

The absurdity and hypocracy of the Republican claim of Democratic diversion is apparent in the facts that, A) Rush started this mess wioth the “I hope he fails” comments and B) The CPAC having him as their Keynote Speaker. Both of these events took place prior to the Democrat response.
Repubs slap the Dems with the gauntlet then have the audacity to cry “they started it” when the Dems take up the challenge. Typical.
If any “distraction” is happening it is by the Republicans who want to obsure the fact that they are rooting for the economy to collapse so they can use it against the Dems in an attempt to regain power in 2010 and 2012.

This is what the Republicans are left with and they must be embarrased. Rush Limbaugh got wealthy spewing his hate and racism to millions of red necks in this country and has finally uncovered the true definition of the Republican party. He represents the wealthy fearmongering, corporate fraud and greed, warmongering, truth dodging, bill of rights busting, no accountibility etc.. and is laughing at his poor listeners all the way to the bank. This is what bush and cheney did to defraud America and these poor people that follow them religiously need to be told what to think and do so they fall into the trap.
Report thisThe difference between so called conservatives and liberals is; liberals want everyone in our country to be patriotic and give everyone the same alienable rights written in our constitution and for our policy makers to be accountable for their actions. Conservatives want everyone to think like they do and follow corrupt leadership off the cliff which of course we know is ridiculous. That’s why the Republican party is falling apart and kissing the ring of a gas bag.

Mr. Limbaugh’s delusional self-assessment of his intelligence and influence is at the root of the vast majority of the controversy surrounding him. Roughly 5% of the public listens to his commentary, and even less consider it credible. That leaves 95% of the public accessing and considering other sources of information. Monster Truck Jams draw 5%.
Rush Limbaugh has now challenged President Obama to ….an “intelligent, open discussion”, and then goes on to inform the President that:
“If you (President Obama) take me out, if you can wipe me out in a debate and prove to the rest of America that what I say is senseless and wrong, do you realize you will own the United States of America?”
And Mr. Limbaugh’s credentials to be included in such a scenario are….?
A paid political commentator informing our President under what circumstances he might come to ‘own’ the United States of America? This sort of nonsense is typical of ‘conversations’ heard between ‘opponents’ on WWF broadcasts. We’re not discussion possession of an oversized belt buckle. This country can no longer afford to spend our time and/or our energy listening to, or finding credence in, caustic, intentionally divisive vitriol.
Mr. Limbaugh is a no more and no less than a radio talk show host – nowhere in his job description occur the terms ‘credibility’, ‘objectivity’, or ‘relevance’ – and nowhere in the opinions of the vast majority of American citizens.

When are we going to finally have a worthwhile political discourse displayed by the media in this country? This is nothing but two immature sides of our political system name-calling and blaming each other for every problem instead of taking that time to work together in a bi-partisan dynamic to solve some of the worst crises in our nation’s history. This is why my children will shoulder the burden of their selfish grandparents and parents. • Begala, asked in a separate interview whether he was coordinating an anti-Limbaugh strategy with the White House, said: ” I don’t take orders from anybody, except CNN. I don’t work for any politicians. I work for the network.” …“My strong suspicion is that the White House has bigger fish to fry,” Begala told CNN.”
Well, Begala and I share strong suspicions, and I suspect the preparations are in the works for the biggest Fry since the old days, prepared to throw a few turkeys in with the really big fish, and have ourselves a feast. (hushpuppies and coleslaw on the side, with maybe a yam or two available as a second side…maybe we should open a restaurant).
Meantime, we’ve got another episode of the triple-loop, double-back absurdity with the repigs calling foul for ‘distraction’, seeing as how they’re the only ones distracted. How does it get to be the fault of the White House or any other democrats that Rush Limbaugh talks a lot of trash, and the political faction to which he claims to associate himself (repigs) like to hear it?
Whose fault is it that the repigs allow a total whack job like Limbaugh to hold so much sway in their party image? 10 million ‘fans’ is obviously enough to maintain a permanently fatal flaw in the machine. And if none of their ‘real like Steele” leaders won’t call him out or do something to shut him up, what’s a White House or other Democrat to do? How could Rahm resist referencing Limbaugh as the “Intellectual” Voice of the Republican Party? (and do it with a straight face?)
And here again, why are they ‘distracted’ from all the ‘spending’ the dems are doing in DC? They could pay as much attention to it as they want, since the information is everywhere. CSPAN, the multiple government websites, and just your regular old broadcast channels, at least where they still exist. All they have to do is listen to what the President and his staff are saying, if they want to know about all of the ‘spending’ going on.
Apparently Limbaugh is more suited to their intellect and ideology. Seems like a no-brainer to me.

But this R.L. is just a big fat hyprocrit who are against a lot of things but this goody goody person was on drugs for so long that he lost his hearing.
