White House / Joyce N. Boghosian

Rep. John Conyers has not stopped investigating the U.S. attorneys scandal and he’s finally gotten former Bush aides Karl Rove and Harriet Miers to agree to testify. The two advisers previously ignored subpoenas to appear before Congress, citing executive privilege.

AFP via Google:

A former top aide to ex-president George W. Bush, Karl Rove, who previously failed to testify in Congress in a probe of the controversial firings of federal prosecutors, will now appear, Congressional sources said Wednesday.

Rove, called to testify in an investigation into the 2006 firings of nine federal prosecutors that some saw as politically motivated, failed to show at a House of Representatives hearing in July 2008.

Obama is a con artist put in place by the ruling class to divert attention from the conning of the American people during the coming depression.  His great virtue is that he looks and sounds good on TV, and so can promote Continuity with the Bushite counter revolution until the population notices that he is continuing Bushite policies. Then he has the militarized police and Homeland Security to fall back on.

That is the simple truth of the matter.  Which will never be told in the mainstream media.

It very well could be my youthful naiveté, but I’m still open to the possibility that some good can come from this. Folktruther, what you say is far more likely…unfortunately. Since Obama is continuing many of Bush’s policies, it would make sense that he would want to look forward.

How will we know, Russian Paul, that Rove is going to testify under penality of perjury if he is testifying in secret?

What is the point of testifying in secret, if the trascripts are going to be released publically, if not to suppress infomration not included in the transcipts?

The American power structure is completely corrupt, Conyers no less than Rove.  They are both looking forward with Obama, not backward at the political crimes.

From my understanding, Turd Blossom will testify in private BUT he will still be “under the penalty of perjury” which is the same thing as being under oath. And according to the below source at least, the transcripts will be made public.

Alejandro is quite right.  The American people are deluded largely by what the mass media, including the pseudo-progressive mass media, doesn’t say.  What the Truthdig piece didn’t say this time was that Rove, Miers, etc will testify IN SECRET, the reason they fouted the law in the first place.

And this is done at the behesst of the Obama admistration, which is continuing the Bushite counter revolution.  His press secratary stated publucally that Obama doens’t want to do anything to decrease the power of the presidency, illegitmately and illegally inflated by Bush.  So he essentially forced Congress to settle their law case.  In a scenario that not only involves the firing of 9 Dem attorney generals for political reasons, but the imprisonment of the former Dem Gov of Georgia.

you are not alone, Alejandro, but their aren’t many of us, and there won’t be until we can whittle down the size of the DUPES (Dems Under Presidential Enchantment.)

This is proof that one of the bush/cheney crime syndicate’s enemy was accountibility.
Rove is out in the national media vommitting his lies and trying to rewrite history but when asked to tell the American people, who paid his wages while in the government, what he said and did while in our hire has to be behind doors. WTF?
Pelosi needs to do her job which is to get answers for the American people or she should reveal why she must recuse herself from justice.

His answers will be: “I don’t remember.”  “I don’t recall.”  “That was in a coversation with ...and it was privileged”.

Now, if only that harpy Pelosi will reach into her Louis Quatorze nightstand, open the period snuffbox, and liberate Conyers’ testicles!

Alas!  I fear that they have atrophied from disuse.

Still, the Amerikan people may eventually get the Harshly Critical Report Without Repercussions it deserves.

I wonder why there is so little mention of the motivation for Rove and Co. (including Cheney?) to go after those attorneys in such a flagrant way. Yes, there was political motivation, and that type of thing—politicizing justice—was certainly nothing new for Rove. But wasn’t the Patrick Fitzgerald prosecution of Libby possibly another important source of motivation, and one that would implicate more than Rove? I hope these congressmen think to ask all of the right questions when they get their opportunity.

The article should be about why Rove isn’t in jail? He didn’t show up when legally obligated to do so, over and over. Arrest the criminal.

What a bunch of crap. John Conyers as well as Nancy pelosi should resign. Karl Rove agrees to testify. Indeed! No oath, no cameras and they set the agenda.“Duh” that’s what Rove wanted in the first place. Please America don’t fall for this “BS”. This is so transparently, a capitulation of Conyers and the Justice Department to open the backdoor for these murderers that I almost can’t contain my anger. I feel so insulted by the whole damn bunch of them. Am I alone?

One thing you can be sure of, if his lips are moving he is lying.  Anyone associated with the Bush gang, wouldn’t recognize the truth if it hit them in the head.
When it arrives they will know KARMA!!!!

Karl Rove is a professional liar. He and the other Bush cronies should be in prison, not living a life of luxury after creating the travesty that was the Bush Administration.

Finally is as good a word as any I suppose. The fall out is really something…they knew this was gonna happen when the new Admin got in…

I don’t know why Karl Rove didn’t escape when he had a chance. Surely he knows there will be no Libby style ‘pardons’.
