Eight years later, it seems the mystery of Washington intern Chandra Levy’s murder might be solved, and it seems former Congressman Gary Condit is exonerated—cold comfort after his political career was wrecked as a side effect of the Levy investigation.

BBC:

A jailed Salvadorean immigrant has been charged with the 2001 murder of US intern Chandra Levy, a case which gripped the nation.

US officials say Ingmar Guandique, 27, killed Ms Levy as she was jogging in a Washington park.

Guandique is serving 10 years in jail for attacking two women in the same park where Ms Levy’s body was found.

The unsolved case wrecked the career of politician Gary Condit who had been having a relationship with Ms Levy.

CJ,

“Condit and family were just one more victim of big media’s insatiable appetite for the salaciously bloodthirsty, for which media (halfway rightly, but halfway wrongly, or more like 20% rightly, 80% wrongly) conveniently blames audiences. As though audiences sat in at editorial meetings and then sat at anchor desks, in production rooms and behind cameras.”

~~~
You nailed that one! But I think you are too kind! Lets narrow “Big Media” down to one or two “Big Mouths, Small Minds, self absorbed ego-maniacs!”  A certain lady named Grace springs to mind.
How many lives have been ruined by these petty town gossips? These know-it-all wannabee absolutes who play prosecutor, Judge and Jury every single day? How many guilty people have slipped under the radar while these amoral “anchors” have been driving a feeding frenzy that leads to a form of cannabalism?
Not enough that a grieving family suffers horribly, these paranahs want to see the family bleed! They want to see every vestage of whatevers left in the families lives ruined beyond repair! They are bloodsucking parrasites who couldn’t earn an honest living in the criminal justice system if their pathetic lives depended on it! But they make huge amounts of money for PLAYING at the game of criminal justice. That lives are ruined, families are destroyed, and often the guilty is never caught, seems lost on them. Their disgusting focus never looks beyond the easy. But then what more can we expect? The amoral and the greedy never look back at what havoc THEY may have left in their wake!
Absense of conscience. Absense of accountability. Absense of what it REALLY takes to be successful in the criminal justice system, the Author of the book Objection!—How High-Priced Defense Attorneys, Celebrity Defendants, and a 24/7 Media Have Hijacked Our Criminal Justice System—seems to have lost track of that part about a 24/7 Media hijacking our criminal justice system. Blondee and friends play on the ignorance of a bored viewing public, and they get paid for it!
Sorry lady, no defense for getting paid for playing on peoples fear and passion for gossip. No defense for playing judge and jury. No defense for the trail of pain, heartache and even suicide left behind. None!
Saw and heard this on the tube. Heard no apology by personnel manning various cable-network desks to Condit. Only that he and his family moved to Arizona.
Condit and family were just one more victim of big media’s insatiable appetite for the salaciously bloodthirsty, for which media (halfway rightly, but halfway wrongly, or more like 20% rightly, 80% wrongly) conveniently blames audiences. As though audiences sat in at editorial meetings and then sat at anchor desks, in production rooms and behind cameras.
YEAH, Condit—reportedly—had an affair with Levy. (THAT’S never happened before!) On that discovery, media all but prosecuted, convicted and sentenced Condit for murder of Levy.
“We only give them what they want,” media is forever proclaiming, while media avoids taking the remotest responsibility for anything whatsoever. “Don’t kill the messenger,” media says.
What about when messengers make it up? Or follow blindly along, including rumor-mongering?
What about when messengers agree to “embedding”? Thereby becoming willing mouthpieces.
Condit was occasion for delicious, highly profitable, meal, followed by loud burp. Still no “sorry-about-that” spit-up.
