Bombing Human Rights?
Air Force

Although the State Department criticized other countries’ human rights records, no mention was made of the U.S. wars in Iraq and Afghanistan—or of the hundreds of thousands of people killed in them.

In announcing her department’s annual human rights report, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made multiple references to the elephant in the room—the United States’ own tarnished record, saying “America must first be an exemplar of our own ideals.”

Beyond pro forma self-reflection, the report contains the requisite admonition of China, Russia and North Korea—countries where the U.S. sees worsening human rights conditions.

The BBC:

The US state department has criticised China in an annual report on human rights around the world.

China’s human rights record worsened in some areas despite the country hosting the Beijing Olympics, the report said.

On a trip to China last week US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said co-operation between the two countries should take precedence over tensions.

But she also said she had held candid discussions on human rights issues with her Chinese counterpart.

Millions are starving and being murdered in Africa while American eyes and ears are turned elsewhere. They are turned toward China and its underpaid work force. Americans are out of work partially because of cheap Chinese labor and want Chinese leaders to be boiled in oil. But China is our friend.  Our multitrillion dollar stimulus package is financed by the Chinese treasury. Keeping China rich is in the interest of the American people. Let’s not bite the hand that feeds us.

I think US now has a great deal of very serious work trying to restore its credibility around the world. HOw on earth if state department respect itself and the world and not mention the worst human right abuse may be in history manifested in what so called saudi regime ???? unless it is only about oil??? as every body say.

so america sold its IDEALS just for easy oil and dollars and being in bed with the worst and dictatorship regime may be in the world????

shame on america !!!!!

I am an American living in China. I would recommmend the China government cash in all their T-Bills. Why fund a country that does not have a good record in human rights? Iraq, Vietnam etc.. The wars they wage are over oil and minerals not terror or human rights. No one is longer fooled by the State Departments rantings. The U.S. record globally is a self serving exercise and human rights are not the issue. The issue to America is $$$$ Until America cleans up its own back yard concerning human rights why fund them? China can have its own economy with Asia and Europe. It does not need the US anymore.

Only a country as utterly deluded as the United States could have the gall to do something like this. When are, first the political and media class, then the sad excuse for an electorate, going to wake up to the ugly reality that is a foreign policy more destructive, murderous and longer lasting than that of Nazi Germany, and an system of government so broken that they vote for the interests of a foreign country - Israel above that of their own.

The annual US human rights report is a sick joke, and is so viewed by the rest of the world.  It is like love on the lips of a whore.  The US has the most barbaric foreign policy in the world, killing hundrreds of thousands of people, making refugees of millions, supporting despotic regimes like Saudi Arabia for decades when they don’t even allow women to drive a car or bicycle.

This report is pure and simply an attack on US foreingn policy adversaries, turning a blind eye to ethnic cleansing by Israel and oppression by other clients.

The US, not incidentally, distinguishes Human Rights from Economic rights.  The US policy position is that, asstonishingly,  people do not have the right to food.  There have been votes in the UN stating that and other rights and they were passed unanimously except for one vote against.  Guese who voted against it.  the warm hearted, freedom loving, Democratic US of A. Who is for human rights the same way the Vatican is for freedom of expression.
