His presidency is not yet a month old, but there already are some who are wondering aloud whether Barack Obama is going to make good on his pre-election pledges. What’s this—he’s a politician?

Los Angeles Times:

And Obama’s recent moves regarding a lawsuit by detainees have left some liberal groups and Bush critics, including the American Civil Liberties Union, feeling betrayed, given that Obama was a harsh critic of Bush’s detainee policies when running for office last year.

The anxiety is also being felt in the labor movement, one of Obama’s most important support bases. Some union officials and their allies are frustrated that at a crucial point in negotiations over his massive stimulus package, Obama seemed to call for limits on “Buy American” provisions in the bill aimed at making sure stimulus money would be spent on U.S.-made materials.

Obama has been president for less than a month, and his liberal critics concede that the economic crisis has understandably taken the focus off their issues. But some of the issues in play were crucial to building excitement on the left and mobilizing grass-roots support for Obama’s candidacy.

I like your style, Purplegirl.  At least its interesting.  I nominate you for Leader of Democrats Under Preidential Enchantment (DUPEs).  At least until you realize that Obama has been kidnapped by the Zionists.

The Repugs and their Corp task masters have made most dreams of Liberal leadership an unattainable Luxury.
Over the last 3 decades the Spin masters have wobbled Aemrican minds as to what constitutes American Values and who are real enemies are.
between misrepresenting “Patriotism” as the doctrine of “Survival of the Fittest” and the Morality that ‘he who dies with the most toys Wins’, Most Americans can’t even formulate the concepts this country was founded on. forget the Statue of Liberty’s welcoming sonnet.Forget that it was lack of Representation, not just taxation, which ignited the Colonists.Forget “God” is not the Sole property of the Evangelical movement or any other religious doctrine. “In God We Trust” Nor ‘Under God” does not mean we are a ‘christian nation’, Just a Country that recognizes there are forces greater than ourselves (and that could easily translate into mere ‘mother nature’- Even Evolutionist recognize Nature is a force to be reckoned with and revered).
So how do you spin this mental lapse of reason around on a dime? In 3 weeks, a Term, a generation? It’s taken these SOB’s nearly 40 yrs to screw this country up, economically, morally and intellectually…It’s gonna take a while to repair the damage.Ya know why you don’t wake a sleep walker- it’s terrifying and disorienting to be yanked out of an Illusion of reality. So when you find a sleep walker heading out the front door, you gently and quietly redirect them back, slowly turning them back around. Shit many of US have been Screaming ‘WAKE UP’ for years, and what has happened the ‘Walkers’ get more resistant and violent to our over zealous ‘intrusiveness’.
Why are so many willing to put a flame to Obamas feet when they’ve spent the last few decades convincing themselves they were not being screwed- granting any and all liberities to those who have now been proven to be the worst Enemies of the State and Our Founding doctrines. Al so patient watching the country slowly circle the drain,Now you’ve become indignant and Outraged. Where Were you doing the Treasonous and Global Criminal acts of the Reagan Admin? HW’s first Iraq invasion? The Blow Job Clinton gave to Wall Street (Modernization Act) and the Corps (NAFTA)? After the well foreseen results of Corp Global corruption resulting in 9/11- those ‘Chickens had come home to roost’? The Unconstitutional “Patriot Act”. Suddenly you’ve found your ball busting bats to use on a man who’s only held office for a month?Must we take you by the shoulders again and put you back to bed until you really wake up? Small children who have no concept of reality, the big picture and can not control their impulses or temper tantrums. sit down Shut up and let the rest of US figure out how to unravel this Web of BS our ‘leaders’ have spun for the last 4 decades.

President Obama? Well I still believe that he was the only choice this go around. I believe he is smart enough, thoughtful enough, balanced enough, but is he operating from a reality based premise?

He seems to have taken to heart the idea that everyone wants America to succeed, and all of these obstructive GOP mouth pieces are just posturing. I find it hard to believe that he is right to try and include these 5th columnists in any attempt to find a new way for the future.

Yes, Obama is being influenced by people who have their own agenda’s and many he will have to work with for the future. There are too many people trying to apologize for the Moslems, who as far as I am aware have never given up their wish to destroy Israel and I do not believe that any country is obligated to commit suicide. The Palestinians have never represented a national idenity and have so far expressed an overwhelmning anti-semetism from even before the advent of Israel.

The point being that if they would work constructively with Israel there would be no excuse for Israel to attack, but as long as Israel has a clear and valid reason to defend itself there will be no piece. If the Moslems continue to be intractible than it will lead to a horrible slaughter.

I am sure that there is a minority of Jews who like having the excuse of being constantly under attack as a route to a Greater Israel. It is my view that the bloody mindedness that Moslems have continued to preach and believe will someday lead to a horror of a question. “Shall we continue to see our people die as they go about their daily business or(from the Jewish point of view) shall we remove them before more of our young people die for no good reason.

Since Mohomet stole the Jewish scriptures maybe it is time to consider that perhaps the Jews are owed some compassion by the Moslems.

Not me… I always knew it would be like this.

Does anyone actually think that after 8 years of Bush, that it can be undone in 4 years, get real.

Destruction is always so much easier than creation.

Bush and the right, gutted this country, destroyed our insitutions, then poured salt in the wounds.

Were still in for one hell of fight against the right, who believe they are the rightful owners of this country.

This is just the beginning of several generations of reform and restoration, or it’s the end.

No one ever gets things exactly the way they want them.

I was surprised he has opted to surround himself with people like Summers and Geithner. Three people, whose names I can’t recall, on his economic team that he recently formed are supporters of outsourcing. This was reported by CNN’s Lou Dobbs.

I didn’t like McCain but Obama touted change yet he chose to surround himself with D.C. insiders. Real change would’ve been recruiting people outside of D.C. People like Sal Khan, Peter Schiff, Ron Paul, etc.

I suspect this massive stimulus plan isn’t going to generate many jobs and as a result the rest of the world won’t want to lend money to America anymore.

I tried to warn everybody during the primaries, but few seemed to listen. Nobody wanted to check his record, instead everybody just wanted to cheer.  Obama is just a continuation of Bush/Clinton regime, who manipulated the “left” by playing the part of the black activist, just like Bush fooled the rednecks by passing himself off as a Texas good’ol boy.

Obama, after campaigning for Hope n Change, has broken progrressive promise after promise.  What he is doing operationally, covered thinly by a layer of progressive bullshit, is Continuing the counter revolution of the Bushites.

He has been hijacked by Israel Firsters to support American and Israel imperialism, Zionist neoliberalism, and a militarized police state. The latter has been installed in a hundred mile zone around the perimeter of the country containing two thirds of the American people.

Americans can do nothing about it until they understand what they do not want to understand, that Obama is promoting the policies of the Israel First faction of the American power structure, which controls the mass media, including the Progressive mass media. For the vast majority of Americans, and the people of the world, Obama is not your friend.
