Is Texas a Closeted Blue State?Posted on Feb 2, 2009
Hold on to your 10-gallon: Gallup’s polling data from the last election show that more Texans identify as Democrats than Republicans. That hasn’t translated into a political earthquake just yet, but it may only be a matter of time. Changing demographics make the Lone Star State and its 34 electoral votes a tempting target for Democrats.

Unless you are rich (or think you’re rich) or some authoritarian follower you are probably going to identify with the democratic party.

I’ve been telling people this for years. If the Dems just as much tried they could win this state and win BIG. There is a general distaste for Republicanism in many parts of the state, the only problem is the Dems keep putting of crooks or seriously flawed candidates that compel people to either sit it out or hold their nose and go with the (R). Obviously, there are Republican strongholds, but these could be more than countered with decent showings in any of the enormous cities. Its really a matter of putting money into the ad market, which the Dems have repeatedly failed to do in any meaningful way. I think if they start pumping money into the state for the 2010 elections they can flip a Senate seat soon there after, and possibly even win the presidential in 2012. It really is that ripe for the picking, if only they try.
