Snow blankets Moscow’s Red Square.

Hundreds of thousands of freezing Europeans are waiting for Russia and Ukraine to resolve a pricing dispute, while EU officials engage in scramblepants diplomacy to get the natural gas flowing again. Russia has accused Ukraine of siphoning off gas, which runs from Mother Russia through Ukraine and into Europe, where some areas are very, very cold.

BBC:

Ukraine and the EU are trying to iron out glitches that have stalled a deal with Russia to resolve a gas dispute.

Russia has said it cannot implement an agreement with Ukraine to resume gas flows to Europe, accusing Ukraine of adding “unacceptable” conditions.

Several European countries have been left without gas in severe winter weather as the dispute rumbles on.

Folk—I had thought of that.

I do not understand why so many still want to keep Russai on the US s*it list. It is not as though we have totally democratically elected representatives , either!

Fortunately for them , Russia probably does not give a rat’s a** if we do anymore.

We’re the ones who have to keep buying all this oil and propping up criminal regimes in the Middle East.

(doesnt help with the Gaza situation, either, I suspect!)

Sorry—I forgot. They “hate us for our fridom”

No, Old Geezer, it’s the Ukraine that has shot itself in the foot. It is the economic equivlent of the Georgia war.  The Ukraine premier added a priviso to the aggreement AFTER RUSSIA HAD SIGNED IT.  This is absurd, like a tiny nation attacking Russia.

Both Ukraine and Georgia are culturally similar to Russia, and the US want to detach them from Russia influence, get them in NATO, and threaten Russia militarily.  Zbig, Obama’s mentor, is especially anti-Russian, being a Pole.

The US encourages these small countries to act crazy, and then have to back down when there is no alternative.  Ukraine MUST get its gas now from Russia, there isn’t any alternative.  Ukraine is just making gestures before it caves.

Russia has really shot herself in the foot. Europe, having been fooled once, will never rely on Russia again for winter heating.

Doh.
