Members of the House of Representatives of the 111th Congress, accompanied by family members and guests, are sworn in Tuesday in the House chamber on Capitol Hill.

There were just a few action items—emphasis on action—for the 111th Congress to contend with on the broad domestic and global scale as veteran members reconvened and new recruits made it official on Tuesday. Get to work, people.

USA Today:

Oaths of office were administered, anti-war protesters staged demonstrations and lobbyists cruised through a series of receptions to celebrate the day. More than a few new members said they were eager to get started.

“The overwhelming feeling is, let’s get something done,” said Colorado Democrat Sen. Mark Udall, who was sworn in on a Bible he said belonged to his father Morris, who was a congressman for 30 years.

Though Congress often delays substantive action until after the presidential inauguration — which takes place Jan. 20 this year — the economic crisis has prompted urgency. Obama met with leaders of both parties Monday to discuss a $775 billion recovery plan.

“This is the lesson and legacy of the last election: the American people demanded a new era of change and accountability,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., who was elected to a second term as speaker. “We need action and we need action now.”

Cast out that Botoxed bitch Nancy Pelosi for Dennis Kucinich for Speaker of the House.  Start impeachment hearings against Bush/Cheney, et al (it can be done in ONE DAY, so no bs). Place a call to Israel; say END THE BLOCKADE otherwise your allowance will be cut off. The same applies to Egypt.  Recover the remaining TARP funds from Hank Paulson, and distribute amongst working Americans.  Pass HR 675 and implement universal single payer health insurance.  Start undoing Patriot Acts 1&2, No Child Left Behind, faith-based funding, etc.  End the military occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan; close 75% of military bases/torture chambers worldwide.  Slash Pentagon budget by 80%, rescind tax cuts for top 1%, don’t confirm Hillary Clinton, Robert Gates, or any Clinton-era appointees to Obama Cabinet; samme applies for the Wall Street/Milton Friedman ideologues who caused this mess.  Negotiate drug prices ala the VA for Americans, adjust social Security so that up to the first $100k is taxed.  Purge the gov’t of all Bush ideologues from all levels of govt.  Maybe I’ll believe in CHANGE.

Yes, bellicose pelosi and the first order of business should have been to replace your traitorous personage with someone that will look out for and work for the people, not stick it to them over the coffee table. It will be a neat trick to see what you start out with and my bet will be your continued theft of the taxpayers money to reward your wall street and corporate favorites for their part in ruinning this country. Hope your status as speaker doesn’t last much longer as you find yourself impeached for your treasonous actions.
