There is absolutely no record I could find of JFK, Jr. running for any political office, including the junior U.S. Senate seat from New York.  (As well, I live in NYC and would certainly remember that.)

The “problem”, as I see it, is , does CK really WANT this seat? She says that, if not appointed, she will not run in 2010. If she doesnt want it, it is a really contested seat, (isnt it?), and we could end up with—who knows?—in 2010.

It’s certainly not my district, and it should be up to the people there.

You did not get my comment. Caroline’s chutzpah is not that she made herself available for the appointment which is fair enough but that she treats the appointment process contemptuously, giving almost daily press conferences thereby daring the NY Governor to say NYET to the “most qualified candidate”. I hope he will not be snookered and say “NYET Caroline, NYET. Try running again in 2010 when you have real opponents that will shred your pretensions to pieces”.
We have had a Governor trying to blackmail a candidate for the Senate seat from Illinois. Now we have the reverse, a candidate trying to blackmail a Governor for the NY Senate seat. In Delaware a “stand in” is said to hold the chair warm for Biden’s son. No wonder that the public holds the U.S. Senate in utter contempt.

And to me as obvious as anything is teddy quickly rejecting the run for president. He did care to die so soon.

So Mr. Sheinkopf, a Bill Clinton handler, pooh-poohs name recognition as any qualification for public office.  Obviously Mr. S. was not and is not a supporter of Hillary, a namely recognized name and that was about all (wasn’t even a true ‘resident’ of NY which Kennedy is) when she ran for the Senate.

I get the feeling that it’s the blue-dog dems who are dissing Ms. Kennedy.  Perhaps she’s another dem cut from the same cloth as Kucinich and Feingold and her uncle.  The blue-dogs now hold the power in both houses and Washington is basically all about holding power - everything else is of little consequence.

Caroline Kennedy is running for the Senate.  Jeb Bush has said he is running for the Senate.  Will we have Kennedy versus Bush in 2012? 2016? Or will she die as mysteriously as her brother, JFK Junior, when he ran against Hillary Clinton?

Why would Caroline Kennedy want to enter the political arena?  After all the Kennedy’s have lost, you would think Caroline would want to stay as far away from politics as possible. No one knows the truth about how her brother died.  The Navy put up a 7 mile “search and rescue” boundary. JFK Junior’s death was just as mysterious and controversial as JFK Senior’s and RFK’s, it just didn’t involve bullets, a patsy, and a Manchurian candidate.

If Caroline wins the Senate seat, I hope she has enough sense to stay out of small planes, open cars, and hotel restaurants.  It would be wonderful to see a Kennedy in office once again.  Maybe she would then have the wherewithal to completely overhaul the grossly deficient public education system - from the ground up - not just apply band-aids.

Caroline, that is your opinion and yes, there are more qualified people for the job. Your celebrity status as an elite will most likely get you the job because the governor will get to exercise a power that should not be available. There should be an election but hey its not my state and if the governor wants to exercise the right to appoint someone that is his prerogative instead of calling a special election.
Personally, you are an of the rich people and that is just what is not needed in government anymore as crucial issues you decide on may come down to how much will it affect you and I will have to live with your decision. If you are appointed, I hope your decisions and votes are fair for the all.

So this site joins in the Kennedy bashing.  After years of Billionaire licking Schumers and Clintons a little Kennedy bashing will make everyone forget that the media has been licking billionaires for thirty years..

For some brief interruption in the Kennedy bashing of SY (Sir Seymour of Langley) Hersh Cockburn and Chomsky see the books JFK and the Unspeakable; Why He Died and WHy IT Maters, which is not allowed in ANY BOOKSTORES even though it has outsold every other JFK bashing book in the last five years More than two thousand footnotes and an ENDORESEMENT BY DANIEL ELLSBERG, but no matter we are dealing with trained left-liberal parrots in their Sy Hersh Cage.

Also see the absolutely incredible Family of Secrets by Russ Baker.  Mad Alex gave a dribe-by to this book in his weekend Counterpunch site. And one might quite resonably ask what has this to do with sweet Caroline? Well not a whole lot, on her as an individual, but it does relate to the overall theme of how the left liberal press bashes the Kennedys more than even the right.  I know we are consitioned to say ‘THATS BECAUSE THE KENNEDYS WERESO LIONIZED BY THE PRESS AND ALSO BECAUSE THEY WERE JUST ANOTHER COLD WARRIORS” 

Both of these statements have SOME truth to them.

The problem that is that that half has been the WHOLE STORY in left-liberal media like Cockburn, Goodman, Chomper and Company.  THere has been no more savagely attacked president than JFK in the last twenty years.  The man was threatening to end the Cold War, and he was shot in the head.  And yes I have read all of Chomskys attacks and I used to believe them.  Then I read a LOT more.

Astonishing chutzpah.

This is just embarrassing—for Kennedys, for media and for all the rest of us. We know that American plutocratic aristocracy has no use for commoners, but so blatant is this ongoing expression of contempt on the part of aristo-plutocrats, it’s just embarrassing.
