Pope: Homosexuality Is Unnatural

Pope Benedict XVI on Monday called for the protection of traditional heterosexuality, comparing the Catholic church’s role in defending the family to saving the rain forests. Also not high on the Vatican’s list when it comes to issues of sexuality and “nature”: gender studies. You’re on notice, Judith Butler!

The pope made his pronouncement about saving the straights a day after celebrating the life and achievements of Galileo, whom the Vatican condemned during his lifetime. The Holy See later apologized (much later), calling the church’s attitude toward Galileo a tragic mistake.

The Australian:

“If tropical forests deserve our protection, humankind ... deserves it no less,’’ the 81-year-old pontiff said, calling for “an ecology of the human being’‘.

It is not “outmoded metaphysics’’ to urge respect for the “nature of the human being as man and woman’‘, he told scores of prelates gathered in the Vatican’s sumptuous Clementine Hall.

my gaydar is up and it is pointing right at his holiness the clown in a dress - the Nazi who is totally responsible for convincing the last pope to continue hiding the sex scandals for years and trying to keep them out of court so the cardinals wouldn’t lose their precious palace and endless riches - looking toward the Vatican gives one the feeling of complete despair knowing how they stole the riches of every country to gain such wealth - they should not have worked so hard - they could have gone to Wall Street and done a terrible job - they would have been rewarded billions and billions of tax payer money.

BTW -I lived in the very midst of the sex scandal and I know what happened to the victims - the horrible lives many of them led - the affliction of drug and alcohol - the suicides - the church has no shame - they helped those sick perverts destroy one small child’s life after another - it is enough to make you vomit

Answer a fool according to his folly, says the Book of Proverbs, lest he grow proud in his folly.

Whether or not it is a this point possible to save His Holiness from the sin of pride, it might help somebody, if not him, to note the internal inconsistency of this “teaching.”  It is quite obviouisly the person who would oblige homosexuals to behave as if they were heterosexuals who is attempting to “manipulate human nature,” and who thereby manifests hostility toward the objective nature of the created order.

An insistence on replacing that subtle and complex order with an order dictated by one’s own demand for simplicity can only be the product of Pride—damnable, dangerous pride.

What would be the severity of the psychological effects caused to a boy who grew up to be gay living in Germany during the time of Hitler’s Nazi regime?  We know the severe psychological harm and for many, the physical abuse caused to children who grow up to be gay under the influence of harsh antigay social and religious norms. This type of pervasive harm is portrayed in the characters of the movie “Brokeback Mountain,” Jack and Ennis, and including the accepted social approval to commit and remain silent about the severity of this kind of inhuman treatment taken against other human beings, just because they are homosexuals.
During the Nazi regime, homosexuals were publically defamed, falsely accused for the major social problems of that time. This was done purposely, to incite massive public hatred and hostility to be taken against homosexuals.  The Nazis publically charged homosexuals, as being a threat to the nation, blamed for the nation declining birth rate, and called an infection that if not eradicated could become an epidemic especially to the youth. Homosexuals were used for medical experiments, brutally tortured, physically mutilated, and exterminated in Nazi Death camps. These atrocities have devastating psychological effects not only for the children who grew up to be gay, but also for all of society.
Would this child, as an adult, in a severe dissociative state of mind from his own homosexual feelings (Harry Stack Sullivan MD), unconsciously, perpetuate the terrifying horror of the insensitivity he had experienced, growing to be gay?  If he found himself in a position of authority would he recreate the same social and political environment of violence and terror for homosexuals that he experienced, as a child who grew up be to gay, during the Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals?

After the clergy got caught literally with it’s pants down in the closet with the altar boys a panic set in. This panic was accelerated when the jury awards started depleting the church treasuries (all they REALLY care about). Right away it was decided that their troubles were the fault of homosexuals in the world. The doddering old John-Paul croaked so the cardinals set their minds to selecting a real hard ass who would take the ball of scapegoating and run with it. They were fortunate enough to find a German, ex-proud, Hitlerjungen by the name of Joseph Alois Ratzinger. They burnt paper up the chimney and called him Pope Benedict XVI. Almost immediately he commenced a purge of gay priests, suspected or merely accused gay priests and anyone else that might cost them money down the road. He produced pronouncements stating that they were in a big PR mess because of gay people who somehow slipped past the radar into the church. No mention of the ridiculous policy of clerical celibacy, their medieval attitude toward sex education and empowering priests to assert unquestioned authority over the people creating an attitude of unaccountability for whatever some priest might dream up to do to some powerless communicant. No mention that girls and women were also abused over the years.

So this week Pope Neonazi thought that the “joyous Xmas time” was good enough for him to pronounce gay people on a par with environmental degradation and bio-terrorism. This man-made-god-man must know that he is authorizing witch-hunts and gay-bashings and suicides. I suspect that since he MUST know this, that HAS to be his intent in making this proclamation. His pronouncements, for those who are not familiar or aware, are mandatorily read from every pulpit in the world within a specified range of time after they are issued. I plan to monitor the fallout from this and track a body-count of incidents resulting from the soft-headed adherents acting on this license to hunt and destroy gays. This might be hard to track but I personally would consider ANY incident that occurs after this is announced to be laid at HIS door.

Many regimes entrench their power by putting up a minority to hate. The Nazis did it, Mugabe does it. The Catholic Church has done it for years (burning witches, the inquisition…on and on). What is the surprise? You don’t have power unless you exercise it. What’s new? They’ve been at it for centuries! The Pope’s obsession with homosexuality has a real political reason, have no doubts about that.

So much for universal love and charity! Always press hype that.

Yes, Warren and the Pope are “knuckle draggers” as Tony Wilcher calls them. But, the scary part about the entire matter, is not that “knuckle draggers” think that gay marriage is unnatural, but, that, people that are often thought of as “progressive” feel that way. Or, at the very least, find it entirely acceptable that others do.

We expect it from the Pope. We expect it from neo-con preachers like Warren. It should still come as a surprise that Peop 8 can pass in CALIFORNIA(!) , and, that a person who agrees with it will speak at a Democratioc anaugeration.

Ratzinger is as irrelevant as his religion.
It is totally unnatural( and immoral)  to propagate mythology for billions of dollars at the expense of human suffering around the world.

First oh “Grande Poopa”, who the frig were Cain and Able shtupping if not each other?

Why is this criminal still holding court for the world and on Truthdig? This man was central in the pedophile coverup in the RCC. Who cares if homosexuality is “unnatural”? And who the hell asked this douche-nozel for his uneducated opinion? The only sexual determination to be made for this man is who gets first dibs on his Pontifical orifice in hell. If only there were a hell.

This pope is not of our world. I suspect he is scared of lawsuits. The church has been a haven for homosexuality since its inception as a Roman temple. His official attitude hurts the life affirming movement among the gay community. This antihuman view will prolong for many gays a pathological response to their sexuality. Fortunately, there are Christian churches that take a more humane view, a sad day for the church of Rome.

“nature of the human being as man and woman”

Who was he talking about Michael Jackson? Oh, no that was ADVANCED metaphysics they used to put a woman’s head on HIM.

Actually, I never really knew what that meant until this strange person tried to seduce me one time. I couldn’t figure out which it was. After looking it over for awhile I concluded it was neither. It was Horny as a Catholic Schoolgirl though, but I couldn’t figure out what to do except go back to the bar!

It seems to me that homophobia is somehow connected to patriarchy. The Pope like Rick Warren is a knuckle-dragging patriarch. This comes of reading the Old Testament too much. Those were the days when real men had 999 wives. We are slowly making progress.

Re: Kdelphi

I’ll second that.  Remember… nuns are the brides of Christ…. so it appears, marrying dead people (if the historical Christ actually existed, at all) and polygamy ARE acceptable to the pope.  Right…?

Of course, I can’t tell you how many times I saw “father what’s his name” swaggering back from the nunnery in the early morning hours when I lived across the street from my pious neighbors….

I at least give him credit that he was chasing the nuns instead of the children in the congregation, seemed to be having a mighty fine time of it too.

What gays need is training in how to develope stable relationships and not waste time worrying about the jackasses who are creeply obsessed with what they do when the lights go out. The fact is most live with just about as boring and day to day existence as most heteros.

Does the Pope mean he wants to save young gays from being attacked by the general public or from Catholic Priests?

Once more heed this “if I do not belong to your congregation you haven’t any right to judge. If I chose not to belong to a congregation or not to believe at all than you have no say in my life.

I have no ill will towards the Pope but I do not admire him, but the Catholic church does protect a lot of history for Europeans and so, no wish to see it fail, but maybe Catholics should heal themselves before having an opinion about other people.

What makes the Pope think he’s an expert on the natural world? His whole lot in life is to look after the supernatural, isn’t it?

When it comes to studying nature, I’ll lean on science, thanks.

When I need an expert on things that don’t actually exist in nature… well, I’ll probably still lean on science.
