Palin Poised to Make Millions on Publishing Deal

Huh! So Sarah Palin’s White House bid didn’t pan out, but the story of her two-month sprint to Election Day with John McCain will likely translate into big bucks from an eager publishing house. But what should Palin’s tome be called? And let’s hope she has a good editor—you busy, Dick Cavett?

Times Online:

She failed to save John McCain from presidential election doom, but Sarah Palin, the Republican senator’s controversial running mate, may yet emerge as the saviour of the American publishing industry. Literary agents are queueing up to sign her to a book deal that could earn her up to $7m.

With Barack Obama’s election victory certain to generate dozens of volumes from politicians, strategists and journalists—and with another shelfload of memoirs expected from members of President George W Bush’s administration—Palin’s personal account of her tumultuous introduction to national politics is widely regarded as the book most likely to repay a multi-million-dollar advance.

“She’s poised to make a ton of money,” said Howard Rubenstein, New York’s best-known public relations adviser.

Conservative alert!

I have to say, I’m a little disappointed in you guys.  I expect this sort of pettiness, jealousy and oversimplification (“Sarah Palin had some stumbles, ergo she has nothing positive to offer”) over at Daily Kos.  They’re known to be the knuckle-dragging contingent of the left.  But I really expected better than this from you guys.  Frankly, I expected both a more sophisticated analysis of Palin herself, given the mixed bag of her quite outstanding performance as governor of Alaska and her equally atrocious performance in interviews while running for VP; and a more civilized, elevated level of discussion.  Aren’t you guys supposed to be the tolerant ones?

Palin clearly possesses both strengths and weaknesses, and I’d think you’d be interested in knowing what they are—lest she overcome her weaknesses and put your party on the White House curb one of these days.

Actually, never mind.  I guess I’m okay with you guys think she’s a hopeless airhead.  As you were!

I think purplewolf is on the right track here.  Palin should call her book “The Fifth Roll” and the dust jacket should offer a blurb from Joe the Plumber advising people to keep a copy on their toilet tank in case their 4-pack of Charmin runs out.

“She now finds herself in a position similar to Obama’s in 2004, when the then mostly unknown Chicago politician delivered a mesmerizing speech to the Democratic convention, was elected to the Senate and swiftly wrote a bestselling book – The Audacity of Hope. This proved to be the springboard for his presidential launch.”

OK, that’s offensive!

Assuming Palin has the good sense God gave a chipmunk, we can assume her book will be bought by many. After all we do have a fairly large population of chipmunks! And assuming she still has audacity equal to the audacity she displayed while skipping across the country demonstrating [with great pride] her stupidity, we can safely assume this book wil be forthcoming.

I personally do not intend to buy or read it. Life is difficult enough without deliberately jumping into a pile of dis-information, no information, vacuous ignorance and the need to strain the brain to make sense out of the nonsensical!

I can wait for Bushes memoirs!

Sarah Palin is offensive.

Offensive to the gentle brain. The daily effort at self-improvement. The struggle to elevate women-kind to a position equal to mans capacity to think, do and understand. In fact, Sarah Palins offensiveness caused, more than any other single factor, the loss of the election for McCain!

Why on earth would anyone, other than the typical chipmunk, want to waste precious time, or money wading through her endless diatribe?

As to the title of her book ... how about:

Blah-Blah-Blah, also to, More Blah-Blah-Blah

Just in case you didn’t get it the first time around, Palin explains how dumb works.

And finally, any comparison of Palin to Obama, in any way, demonstrates even Tony Allen-Mills [in New York] is desperately seeking publication! Audacity indeed!

The Audacity of welcoming failure? Only very stupid people embrace demonstrated failure as an example of audacity succeeding!

Now, if she disciplines herself enough to spend the next ten years educating herself, and actually learns how to think ... then talk ... then maybe, she can step on the public stage and redeem herself as relevant. Then we can talk about the success of her audacity!

Unfortunately, publishing her in her present state will only lead to her perfecting her dumbness.

By the way one and all, GREAT comments, hee-hee. smile

Are we sure the contract is to write a book, she might need that motivation to read a book!

I wonder why type of book it will be listed as: Fantasy, Sci-Fi or Horror?

People in red states who follow Palin don’t know how to read. That is how and why they were so easily stirred into the ugly mob-rule mentality we saw during Sarah’s rallies-notice the last 4 letters are LIES? Just as almost everything out of her mouth was and is a lie.

Sarah will stoop as low as she needs to to retain the spotlight.

I won’t be buying it, regardless of price or content.  If we don’t purchase anything “written” by Palin or the Plumber,  we will be letting them know, and the publisher know, that many Americans aren’t stupid, just like we did when we voted for Barack Obama.

Is it will be bought up in a bulk buy by the Heritage Foundation, Richard Mellon Scaife or some other right wing bunch. It will then be used as a premium for magazine subcriptions and fundraising efforts. I wonder how many copies Rich Lowery over at National Review will pick up.

Her book should be called:  “How I made a million dollars without reading a book, newspaper, or news-magazine!”

Better make it a DVD instead of a book, her followers, like Ms. Palin herself, ain’t big readers.  It could contain a compilation of her speeches, perhaps, and the handful of interviews she granted. Can be padded out with some clips from her pre-candidate days.

I hope she makes lots of money from it, retires, and we never here from her again.

A publisher that gives Palin $7 million and then pays a ghost-writer whatever thousands to write her “story” for her probably thinks the book will sell in red states where lots of people listen to Limbaugh.  However, ditto-heads in red states aren’t likely to have any expendable income for the foreseeable future, let alone enough to waste on dumb-celebrity biographies.

On the other hand, if their church leaders tell them they’ll go to heaven if they buy the book, they’ll probably buy multiple copies.

Quoting Sarah: “I know, that I know, that I know….”

I know etc… that with the American public buying less books and reading less than ever before and with the dumbing down of the people on a daily basis, chances are slim it will become a best seller. Unless this book is an illiterate edition(one with lots of pictures and very few words)it will gather dust on whatever bookstore shelves the store owners are conned into buying, thinking they have a bestseller on their hands and demand will be high and they will makes lots of money from selling. Good luck.

I know etc… and I doubt there will be very many people lining up to shell out $25.95 on up for a book about this nitwit.

I know etc…that the only way this book would be sold in volume amounts is by being purchased from the publishers or book brokers who sell them for mere pennies per book to the Dollar Stores as that is where her books will end up, like most political/religious books nowadays, thus causing great looses for the publishers of these books, but they can use that for a tax write-off.

Besides, Sarah no doubt would not be able to read a book about herself, as her ghost writer will have a larger vocabulary and no doubt more knowledge of putting sentences together with coherency, this confusing this already dim person.

Perhaps there might be a demand for her book if people run out of toilet paper or kindling to start their fireplaces with.
