What’s Blackwater Doing in Alaska?

Blackwater in Alaska
Composite: acc-tv.com/50states.com

Juneau is hardly the top American target for terrorists, so what’s Blackwater doing in Alaska’s capital? Author Stuart Archer Cohen and Juneau’s KTOO News have reported sightings of uniformed guards from the private security contractor, and Cohen has some clues as to why they’re there.

Stuart Archer Cohen:

Blackwater is here to guard a radar station for tests of the National Missile Defense system now officially deployed and operational here in Alaska.  Don’t let the words “deployed” and “operational” mislead you: the system can’t really shoot down hostile missiles.  It can barely shoot down a single test missile when provided with its exact take-off time and trajectory, let alone detect and destroy a surprise attack by multiple missiles.  Unbiased experts, including the Union of Concerned Scientists, assert that because the system can be so easily and cheaply defeated by countermeasures such as decoys, or overwhelmed by the complexity of a real attack, that it will never be a practical defense.  Nevertheless, our government continues to divert billions of dollars into the pockets of defense contractors on this wildly expensive high-tech version of France’s Maginot Line, so gleefully outflanked by the Germans in 1940.  This is more than just a constellation of pork barrel projects and misguided priorities.  It’s theft on a massive scale.

Then again, could it be that George the II has planned (oxymoron) a Last Hurrah to insure his legacy?  Is the presence of Blackwater Troops in Juneau a sign that something else is up, other than fixing up Dew Line facilities? My sense is on the day before he exits the White House, B2 will announce:

1. Presidential pardons for all mercenaries and sole-source contractors, Carl Rove, Dick Cheney and the rest of the usual suspects,  the pardon reading “for all past and future high crimes and misdemeanors that may be perpetrated.

2. Guantanamo prison camp will be closed, and the incarcerated will be relocated to facilities on the US mainland.

3. The New site for holding “terrorists” will be Dew Line buildings in and around Juneau.

4. The contract will outsource the management of the new Holding Pen to the “private sector”  aka Blackwater, the reason given being: “Since Blackwater’s troops are already in the vicinity, why not spare the expense of relocating US troops from Guantanamo? Sole-Sourcing this contract will be a great savings for the American taxpayer, given the government’s overtaxed treasury and the bailouts for AIG, GM and Blackwater Global Management Corporation.”

Our Gov has NEVER been for the PEOPLE of it’s own nation, let alone any other nation on the planet. It is interested in total domination of the food chain & water supply in nation after nation. http://www.democracynow.org search drilling & killing; this is in nation after nation. Now it is is the land & the water supply: the Corps have been removed from all laws, & given total immunity. They kill & the Gov moves & Americans are killed & political propaganda tries hard via radio, TV, & power of print to say they “are the good guys”; they built concentration camps in Alaska folks: for people who object to their ways: seeing as how they have planned for the citizens of the USA to wear Fed ID #s (yes Big B) what you said is true: just like in the st of Oregon legal citizens have to show certified birth certs to get drivers licenses while 3 members of St congress in town hall meeting 1/28 & 1/29 08 stated openly they would give them to all new incoming “illegals” just like they have been doing for years. Hard to be a “nation of law” when all laws are ignored, not followed, (see environmental laws folks) usury laws, collection laws; they are there to kill steal & destroy in every way they can. Public perception is what they say: the PUBLIC PERCEPTION is THIS: military terminology: perception management. They want the PUBLIC PERCEPTION to be the opposite of what truly is. Better wise up fast folks.

amunaos—Your point is well taken. I would also add, however, that if these mercenaries were all “ex-officers” we might have a better “handle ” on them. As it is, Blackwater employs people from Pinochet’s regime, Bulgaria,Colombia, Honduras, Uzbekistan, former USSR and some “old” Eastern bloc countries.

They have been employed in New Orleans (remember people being shot for taking bread when they were starving? The Governor deputised them!)We probably do not know where they have been employed, in total.

And, now, Alaska…

From Scahill’s book “Blackwater”, p 389. “The men from Blackwater USA arrived in NO right after Hurr. Katrina hit on Aug. 29, 2005. The company beat the fed. govt and most aid organizations ..as 150 heavily armed BW troops dressed in full battle gear spread out into the chaos…company boasted of its forces ‘joining the relief effort’. But its men on the ground told a differnt sotry….patrolled the streets in SUVs with tinted windows and teh BW logo ....others sped around the French Quarter in an unmarked cars with no license plates. They wore Khaki uniforms, wraparound sunglasses, beige or black military boots, and had BW co. IDs strapped to their bulging arms…heavily armed—some with M-4 auto. weapons, capable of firing nine hundred rounds per minute….Police commissioner Compass’s claim…,“Only law enforcement are allowed to have weapons…...

...As US troops watched on, they talked about their recent “deployments by Bremer and Negroponte..” and “complained on their cellphones…only $350 a day plus per diem…bragged about ‘driving around Iraq in a state dept issued vehicle, ‘explossion proof BMW”.

“The only difference between here and Iraq is roadside bonmbs…(one contractor—Dan Boelens, of Kentowood Michigan police officer..)“Its like a Third World country…

“..the images that dominated the media…were of looting, lawlessnews and chaos…racist and inflammatory..in reality, it was a city of internally disaplaced and abandonded people desperate for food water, transportaion, rescue and help..instead , what was pouring in was guns…”

Sorry—youjust have to read this book, peeps.

Beware of the ‘Money Power’ and their maverick, ‘Free Marketeers.

In 43 BCE, Cicero spoke these words to the Senate: A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is well known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves among those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their garments, and he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of a city; he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared.

Machiavelli, in his ‘Art of War’, issued the following warning: ‘I say…that…governments should fear those persons who make war their only business…And if a prince has not enough power over his occupations when a war is over, he is on the road to being ruined. For no infantry can be so dangerous as that which is composed of men who make war their only calling, because a prince either must keep them continually engaged in war, or must constantly keep them paid in peacetime, or must run the risk of their stripping him of his kingdom. But it is impossible to keep them forever engaged in war, or forever paid when war is over; therefore, a prince must run no small risk of losing his kingdom.

When the Cold War ended, many of officers became unemployed or in fear of becoming so. Defeated or unemployed military officers represent a dangerous phenomenon in any society, and today this problem is compounded by the issue of a mercenary (or all-volunteer) force. Machiavelli wrote about precisely this in 1521, warning that unemployed mercenaries and professional soldiers would inevitably stir up coups and conflicts in order to procure jobs and glory for themselves.

Sawbux—Can you give us a link for that, or a reference? just interested.

cann4ing—You are absolutely correct that that StarWars is NOT defensive. Neither is the missile “shield” in Poland. Hell, you guys know we have used what Bush likes to call “limited nukes” (depleted uranium) in Iraq, right?

I have some doubts about their “surgical precision”, though…remember when they did the “
execution strikes” , during Shock and Awe? And there was that building where they said “Saddam Hussein was sitting at a table” amd they “hit the building and missed him”? If you consider hitting the correct “building” precise, well, maybe it is.

nrobi—I’m sure you have guessed how a rep. republic is taken over—by money, honey! (sorry).I’m afraid it is not just the neo-cons, but, I think that Wall St wants us to stick around and pay more of their bills!  Now, get to work! lol

Well, most people know who RUN Blackwater, (Black, Prince, etc.), but maybe you mean someone more shadowy. With the amount they spent on lobbying (more to GOP, but plenty to Dems, as well), I would say that the US govt owns both parties , of the duopoly..at the hearing Rep Waxman held, the GOP leaped to Blackwater and Prince’s defnse at every turn. But the Dems dont seem to want to do away with them , in any way.

Among the Womble Carlyle lobbyists representing Blackwater are: John Mashburn, former general counsel and policy director for Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., who is the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee; and Mark Harkins, who was chief of staff to Rep. Brad Miller, D-N.C., chairman of the Investigations and Oversight subcommittee of the House Science and Technology Committee

http://blackwaterwatch.net/winston_salem_action.htm

Here is Jeremy Scahill’s piece in HuffPo, whether “Obama or Clinton would be better on Blackwater”.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jeremy-scahill/hillary-vs-obama-who-is_b_92171.html

“Instead, she chose to do it in late February, after The Nation published the comments of a senior foreign policy advisor to Obama who said, “I can’t rule out, I won’t rule out, private security contractors” in Iraq if Obama becomes president and that Obama does not intend to sign onto the Sanders-Schakowsky legislation…”

(The “she” is Hillary Clinton)

From “Blackwater” by Scahill: p.483 “Both Clinton and Obama indicated they supported increasing funding of Diplomatic Security, as advocated by Senator Biden in 2007…..while Obama has been at the forefront of attempts to legislate accountability for contractors on the battlefield..his foreign policy team clearly understood that their support for maintaining a sizable US presence in Iraq had painted then into a corner.”

p 482, Joe Biden:”..l.chair of the influential Foreign Relations Comm., suggested the US should examine ‘whether we should expand the ranks of Dioplomatic Security rather than continue to rely on ...contractors’..however, the requirement for extensive personal security to protect the employees of the US mission will continue for several years to come—regardless of the number of US forces in Iraq”

So, it seems that, if Blackwater disturbs you , ad much as it does me (they shoudl not exist), we wil have to keep up pressure, and, as long as we continue to keep these “wars” going, we will probably need Blackwater, DynaCorp, Triple Canopy—-or—a DRAFT.

ALSO:: On c-span.org topday (Book tv), there was a great talk by authors Jeremy Scahill and Naomi Klein, about “Blackwater” and “The Shock Doctirine” , erspectively. It is worth downloading.

Disclosure—thesse are two of my favorite books/authors.

I guess the consensus here maybe:

1. Companies like Blackwater operate under charters not possessed by another “private entity” in the world.
2. Blackwater type charters allow them “privateer status,” much like those Queen Elizabeth the First assigned to those private armies and navies ,mercenaries and dogs of war, who would be allowed to steal from Spain, whoever, so long as the Queen got her cut of the action.

3. The Blackwaters of the world harbor no allegiances to country of origin, nor the peoples comprising their populations.  Their allegiances are to the company store.
4. The Blackwaters of the world operate outside international conventions and rules of law, and are accountable to only those that own, or represent the ownership of, their corporate bodies.
5. Hitler would have loved these guys.

Star Wars is but one component of “full spectrum dominance.”  The U.S. has already amassed the most sophisticated and powerful land-based, naval and aerial arsenal in history.  Aside from Rumsfeld-inspired efforts to create battlefield level mini-nukes, such as the B61-11 earth penetrating “bunker buster” with a nine megaton yield,  the U.S. has developed conventional weapons whose devastating effect is simply mind-boggling.  Take, for example, Dr. Caldicott’s description of the 15,000 lb. fuel air explosive (FAE) which the Pentagon has given the cute little name, “Daisy Cutter.”

“Dropped by parachute…, they detonate just above the ground creating a wide area of devastation.  The first explosion bursts the container at a predetermined height, disbursing the fuel which   mixes with the atmospheric oxygen.  The second charge then detonates this fuel-air cloud, creating a massive blast that kills people and destroys un-reinforced buildings.  Near the ignition point people are obliterated, crushed to death with overpressures of 427 pounds per square inch, and incinerated at temperatures of 2500 to 3000 degrees centigrade.  Another wave of low pressure—a vacuum effect—ensues.  People in the second zone…are severely burned and suffer massive internal injuries before they die.  In the third zone, eyes are extruded from their orbits, lungs and eardrums rupture, and severe concussion ensues…. Up to 200 civilians died 20 miles away from the cave complex
in…Tora Bora when U.S. planes attacked.  They suffered blast trauma—ruptured lungs, blindness, arms and hands blown off, almost certainly from FAEs.”

An Italian documentary, “Star Wars in Iraq,” Contained significant evidence that the United States has deployed experimental microwave and laser directed-energy weapons in Iraq.  One incident involving their possible use was alleged to have occurred in the battle for Baghdad airport.  A few weeks after the battle, Majid al Ghezali, first violist of the Baghdad Orchestra accompanied American filmmaker Patrick Dillon to the site, showing him “traces of fused metal” and the “irregularly sized ditches where the bodies were buried before they were exhumed.”  He reported seeing three dead passengers in a car.  Their bodies were in tact but their heads, faces and teeth were burnt and their eyes were gone.  Dr. Saad Al Falluji, a physician at the General Teaching Hospital in Hilla told of a bus carrying twenty-six people that was turned away at a checkpoint only to be fired on by a mysterious weapon.  Most of the victims did not survive.  Those who did had no evidence of bullets or shrapnel.  The driver was the only one who was not injured, but Dr. Falluji said he didn’t “know how he reached the hospital because one arm was in his lap, one head beside him.  It was a very, very strange, horrible thing.  In the roof of the car there was parts of bodies: omentum, intestines, brains…”  Dr. Fulluji said that the survivors he treated said “they did not hear any noise…; there was no explosion…”

The general public need to understand that any Mercenary grp. that even with all the armaments at their disposal would never attempt a violent action against the United States Of America. They would be very quickly deciminated by a very loyal citizen army composed of well trained U.S Military and ex military Americans. Mercenary’s are not loyal or Patriotic. Their allegiance lie with the highest bidder, period. So do not fret. All Blackwater is doing is looking for a place to play at Rambo. It’s “more” theft on a massive scale.

If the defense extortionists building this swiss cheese shield ever did make it work (extremely unlikely), thousands of inexpensive cruise missiles could simply go under and around “the shield” and go on to hit their targets without difficulty.

Other then crooked wall street folk currently stealing trillions from John and Jain Q., the “defense” hucksters take the cake, and trillions more of your dollars.

In this particular excuse to transfer Americas wealth from the many to the few, it would be better if they just pretended to build the thing. That way they could steal all the money and not make such a mess doing it.

Likewise, it would have been better if we had only pretended to “liberate” Iraq. That way billions could still have been transfered to the masters of war and all those children wouldn’t have had their little bodies riddled with shrapnel.

Star Wars plans calls for massive expenditures for the unworkable missile defense shield which would include the direct expenditure of $7.4 billion for 1,200 of the Army’s Patriot PAC-3 interceptors at a cost of $5 million per missile, a naval version, the Block 4A, at a cost of $8.98 billion, 55% U.S. funding for a $40 billion mobile theater missile defense system called the Medium Extended Air Defense System (MEADS), $60 million in AWACS upgrades, $11 billion for a new surveillance plane called J-STARS for Joint Surveillance and Target Attack System which will “detect, track, classify and support the attack on moving and stationary targets from a distance of 120 miles,” $23 billion for THAAD (Theatre High Altitude Defense), a ground based launch system designed to intercept missiles in the upper atmosphere, $1.9 billion for NTW (Naval Theater Wide Missile Defense), an upper atmosphere interceptor system that deploys missiles on Aegis ships, $11 billion for ABL (Air Force Airborne Laser), lasers mounted aboard Boeing 747s, with two planes constantly airborne, awaiting an attack, a multi-billion dollar SBL (Space-Based Laser), a joint US-Israeli THEL (Tactical High Energy Laser) designed to protect Israel’s borders from missile attacks, the BM/C3 (Battle Management/Command Control and Communications), a computerized nerve center for all missile defense which would include a Ground Based Interceptor (GBI) which includes a “booster stack” missile ($3 million per missile) and an Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicle (EKV), a system so sophisticated that it will cost $2.6 billion just to test it.  The Star Wars system also includes massive expenditures for multiple radar and infrared tracking systems involving the use of satellites.

If it were limited to ostensibly defensive purposes, one might conclude that Star Wars was simply a boondoggle designed to line the pockets of the defense contractors.  Star Wars entails offense.  It includes space-based surveillance that would permit world-wide, pinpoint tracking and targeting together with an array of weaponry which, per a 1996 air force board report entail “new technologies [that] will allow the fielding of space-based weapons of devastating effectiveness…These advances will enable lasers with reasonable mass and cost to effect many kills.  This can be done rapidly, continuously and with surgical precision…Force application by kinetic kill weapons will enable pinpoint strikes anywhere in the world.”
Citing the mission statement for the U.S. Space Command, “Vision for 2020” involving an avowed purpose to dominate “the space dimension of military operations to protect US interests and investment,” David Ray Griffin concludes that the more than $1 trillion the system is expected to cost is designed to insure the commercial interests of America’s corporate elite.  Griffin quotes Richard Falk:  “The empire-building quest for such awesome power is an unprecedented exhibition of geopolitical greed at its worst, and needs to be exposed and abandoned before it is too late.”

How one group of people or one person can take over a democratic representative republic is ludicrous.
Yet, the neo-cons have done just that. They as a group have taken over the governance of our nation, all the while shredding the Bill of Rights and the Constitution. These documents that they so highly prize, which are the basis of our government, have been identified as backwards and reactionary, with the caveat that they should be done away with at the first chance to do so.
The neo-conservative ideology, in no way, leaves any doubt that the foundational documents of our country are “bullshit” and are not to be the proper foundation of any government that they are a part of.  The people are the bane of the neo-cons existence and without them life would be better for the wealthiest of our nation.
The rest of the people can go straight to hell as far as the neo-cons are concerned, for the people are nothing and do nothing to make the world a better place for those who chose to back the neo-conservative ideology.
As for the existence of Blackwater International security “troops” in the state of Alaska, this is part of a master plan, to start another conflict, which will become a national disaster, so that the president of the US, the shrub, can declare martial law, suspend the Constitution and Bill of Rights, do away with the results of the election of Barack Obama and take over the nation in a coup which has been the plan all along.
We the people, must see the logic in this plan, for it is a real possibility that the Shrub would do such a thing and by dint of his position as president of the US take complete control of the government. This in not out of the realm of possibility and is surely in the planning stages as we think about it.
One need not be prescient or psychic to see the outcome of such a plan, which would install the Bush family as leaders of this country for life, all the while proclaiming that we will someday return to the founding father’s dreams of a free and sovereign nation, of, by and for the people.
The stage is set, are you invited to the play? Just hope for the sake of your children that you are.

Blackwater in Alaska? To paraphrase the former Secretary of State under George I on the Eve of the First Gulf War to free Kuwait from the clutches of the evil Saddam Hussein, “it’s all about oil, Stupid!” It’s also about Dick Cheney’s Last Hurrah, the final installment on his IOUS owed to those who made him what he is today. He can’t let them profit from Alaskan oil reserves, and Ted Stevens may be on his way out as Blackwater’s agent in residence. Whatg todo what to do? Look for something else.  In this case, vast areas of “frozen natural gas” that recently have been identified rimming Alaska’s north shore.  Fixing the Dew Line? Come on! That’s 1950’s technologies, made obsolescent with Sputnik.  Blackwater’s private armies aren’t there for purposes of business as usual.  It ain’t about pork barrels and misguided, misdirected priorities.  Come back James Baker, come back. We need you, want you really, to tell us what it’s really all about.

Knowing the names of Who really pulls Cheney’s strings and those all over the world holding similar positions of public power would explain a lot. These are areas of study that political scientists and media pundits fail or have no way to study. Autobiographies, biographies, and memoirs, even personal letters just can’t do justice to what really happened. Original source data more and more, is destroyed when the Modern Machiavelli’s leave their Service to the President, Queen, or Madonna and Cher. And their Puppet Masters, those nameless, faceless members of the national and international cabals that now run the Global Village, keep on truckin’. Does anybody out there really KNOW who runs Blackwater or better yet who owns Blackwater and dictates through its Board of Directors, those orders of battle to be waged on the populations of the world that day?  That’s what so wonderful about Obama’s election: he comes to office almost free of political baggage and IOUs with due dates.
