One More Dem in the Senate?Posted on Nov 13, 2008
As Alaska election officials continue to count ballots, Democrat Mark Begich has gone from roughly 3,000 votes down to a lead of about 800. His rival, convicted felon and “series of tubes” prophet Sen. Ted Stevens, will likely be expelled from the U.S. Senate if he somehow wins. AP via Google: Just as Sen. Ted Stevens appeared ready to take his criminal record back to Congress—perhaps opening a door for Gov. Sarah Palin to replace him—his re-election bid faltered. Democrat Mark Begich, who trailed Stevens by more than 3,200 votes to start the day Wednesday, jumped to an 814-vote lead as state officials resumed their count of early and absentee ballots. The tally late Wednesday was 132,196 to 131,382, with an estimated 30,000 ballots remaining to be counted, some on Friday and some next week. malik Rahim will be a welcome addition to community leaders who wines the trust of their community before running to office. In fact that is the natural way of electing representatives, first you prove your ability to serve and be trusted then you ask for leadership. The present way of running for office resemble archaic feudal rights where clan and/or money pave the way.

Rep. William Jefferson, who is facing trial for 16 counts of corruption, is up for reelection on Dec. 6th in Louisiana’s 2nd congressional district. Jefferson may be the most corrupt member of Congress after Ted Stevens.
Malik Rahim, founder of Common Ground, which organized thousands of volunteers to provide food, healthcare and basic services to tens of thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims, is running to unseat Jefferson. With enough publicity, this heroic community organizer can win.
