Did Syria OK U.S. Attack?Posted on Oct 29, 2008
While President Bush may not be too keen on diplomacy with U.S. “enemies,” talks of a military nature might be more his cup of tea. An Israeli intelligence expert says that Sunday’s U.S. attack inside Syrian territory may have been the result of a covert agreement between the two states to kill an al-Qaida operative.

As Patrick Henry says, just another day in the neighborhood ... which is why I think it’s indeed possible that Syria’s president may have green-lighted it. The Syrians are in a difficult enough position without having to screw around with Al Quaeda operatives on their soil, especially since the Syrian royals belong to a very small and very different Sunni sect which Al Quaeda considers worse than heretical. Also, Syria is trying to stay friendly with Iran, whose Hezbollah militia is their trump card for influencing Lebanon as well as balance against Israel, and Shiite mullahs have a big grudge against Wahabbi extremists. You can’t please everybody but Bashar Assad has to try anyway, and if the U.S. would eliminate one high-profile part of his complicated problems, and let him grandstand in public indignation later, from his point of view what’s not to like? These age-old sectarian hatreds are stronger than even hatred for big and/or little Satan. Eleazar the Zealot reportedly told a Roman general besieging Masada that if they really wanted to destroy the Jews just leave them alone and they’d turn on each other, arguing over everything whereas when attacked they unite fiercely. The whole Middle East is that way to greater and lesser degrees. You’d have to be a Byzantine courtier to figure out why they do what thtey do.

I’m with O Dar, and Diamond on this, except that I wouldn’t call this a ‘flawed theory’ ( O Dar is definitely more objective and diplomatic) but another damage control LIE!! A PR fix to hopefully detract from the fact that they’ve GIVEN THE FINGER to international law and the rest of the world as usual. They did the same thing in Somalia about 6 or 8 months ago. Went after a ‘terra-ist’ in a house, in a village. They did *not* get permission from the government or even advise them that they had this terra-ist’ in their sights.
They attacked the house, (with several bombs) and killed all of the civilians inside, but the terra-ist ‘got away.’
So, something tells me, (maybe the last 8 years of history) that this is just another lie and for damage control. Because, I’d be willing to bet, (I don’t know why I keep saying that, since I have NOTHING to wager) that this was a planned action on the part of the dick bush thugs to hopefully PROVOKE a response!!! Now wouldn’t that have just been the big time October surprise??? Or, the week before the election surprise. Just fire up another piece of the Middle East. We know they’ve always had Syria in their sights, but had planned on Iran being the next target. After multiple efforts, and by now the full understanding that Iran WOULD respond, and it wouldn’t be a good thing for the rest of the Middle East, (including/especially Israel).
So, this was an attempt to provoke Syria into a response. Or maybe I should say that is my own opinion, for whatever it might be worth. And Syria HAS responded, (via the accepted course/protocal of international law - an appeal to the UN) but they didn’t take the bait that Dick Bush wanted them to take.
Just goes to show that everybody else on the planet knows that the US is run by psychopaths, and it’s only a matter of time before we can be rid of them. We have to get rid of their entire apparatus though.
Anyway, here’s an excellant analysis of how blatantly they’re willing to violate all the laws of the land.
US Raids Ignore International Law

“Washington - While US officials continue to avoid discussing the weekend strikes that killed eight people in eastern Syria, Middle East experts have condemned the attacks as a violation of international law that threatens to further destabilize US-Syria relations.
Sunday, special operations forces carried out a cross-border raid from Iraq into Syria. Press reports quote one unnamed US official who claims that the strike was successful in killing Abu Ghadiya, a terrorist leader in the region. Details of the strike have not yet been released by the US government….”
The rest is at the link. Great piece.

This is a flawed theory, as Syria could have just
as easily taken out such a terrorist by itself.
Such an act would have ben good p.r. for it, as opposed to letting the U.S> do it, which is humilating.
As for why it didn’t shoot down the helicoptor, I’m sure the Syrian govt. has been anticipating such a move for a while, and warned its troops to not react, precisely so as to not give the U.S. an excuse or propoganda tool.
The attack was just Bush’s way to both try to help McCain and, failing that, to try to make life miserable for Obama.
Report thisAnd to Shaam, yes, Syria does have the ability to down a U.S. helicoptor.

“Plenty of unanswered questions remain, like why didn’t the Syrians do anything to thwart the Americans, such as launching anti-aircraft batteries deployed along their border?”
Are you crazy. The US would probably start a full scale war, if Syria even fires at US planes. Do you know how old Syrian equipment is???

This is a credible sounding story, though I can’t confirm it’s accuracy yet.
This used to be the norm with ol’ Gen. Mushy in Pakistan, who would give the US permission to strike a target in Pakistan, with the mutual understanding that he would have to publicly condemn it in the media, to maintain political stability at home. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was the case with Syria, but so far, no news from the grape vine.

‘Ronen Bergman, as Israeli intelligence expert/agent’? Well that would make him a paragon of virtue and wedded to the truth, wouldn’t it? All I’ve got to say is, he would say that, wouldn’t he? Trusting a spy is always a mistake. Al Qaida, al schmaida. When will this bullshit be exposed for what it is?

OK, even if they did get permission, they still didn’t get it right!
As usual, “only innocent civilians were killed”
You know what? Our covert guys are giving our up-front guys a really bad name!
