The chemical BPA is common in plastic products such as baby bottles and food containers, despite concerns among scientists and environmentalists about its safety. The FDA has defended BPA use and recently turned to an outside panel for backup. That group of scientists, however, ended up criticizing the agency’s guidelines.

AP via Google:

The FDA’s approach “creates a false sense of security” and “overlooks a range of potentially serious findings,” the report said.

The advisers also concluded that FDA scientists’ margin of safety for BPA was off, too generous by factor of 10 times or more.

You said it G.Anderson…we are on our own.  I urge everyone to look at our history and all the botched chemical “innovations,” including pharmaceuticals, that penetrated our bodies for years before being questioned. And some are still out there! Another good book to read is “The Hundred-Year Lie” by Randall Fitzgerald.

I think it was written in the ‘70’s a book called ‘100 million guinea Pigs’ (Author?) which went throug various products which had mamed or killed consumers.
Seems they have not changed a bit since that books release. In fact it appears they have only gotten worse since now the Corps are capable of submitting their own tainted research results with no independent verification.
Don’t tell me the FDA has been Subcontracted out just like out security Intellegence.
god knows they have been hell bent on killing US one way or another for a the last few years- through homegrown pathogens laden products and imported CRAP from China!
It’s certianly a federal Agency we Need, But Only if it is Independent and Well managed- Otherwise it’s shit that might as well be dismantled to at leas tsave US money and give a clear messege We are On our Onw and Eat, Drink, Use Products at Your Own risk!False Sense of Security is obviously as Deadly!

What else should you expect when the foxes are guarding the hen-house!  The has been a concerted effort to cut and gut programs that offer protection to the consumer, and totally back the corporate oligarchy that demands compliance!

People come on, with all of these chemicals that are bombarding us daily, from the food we eat to the air we breathe; the amounts of cancers, allergies, malaise, just think!  As Americans we eat food and we no longer know where it comes from!  We think the rest of the world is stupid for not allowing genetically modified foods on their shelves, silly us!  The truth is we are the long term studies, none of the studies done are really long term enough to say what will happen in 20, 30, 60 years.  Unless there is serious, long term study on these chemicals before they get into the food chain, no one really understands the interactions that can or will happen!  Bon apetite, cloned meat anyone?!?!?!

The FDA has long ago switched from being a protector of the people to being a protector of profits.

When 140,000 people can die of Viox poisoning, and not even ripple of shame passess through the FDA, it’s time to realize your on your own.

Yet, if someone stubs his toe in a health food store, it would be page one headlines from coast to coast.

They’ve become a perfect reverse baromoter of the truth.

“It is more important to poison the population and make money than to make for a safe environment.”—  Republican dogma

Read as ‘fuck the people’ or ‘let em eat cake’.

We all know that the FDA is funded by lobbyists who are paying the FDA big bucks to look the other way while our children[and ourselves] are poisoned with chemicals in our foods etc….And the FDA allows other countries to import lead tainted toys etc….
