In a move that might suggest that Sarah Palin’s performance on the campaign trail has not been universally well received in her home state, the Anchorage Daily News, Alaska’s largest newspaper, came out in favor of Barack Obama on Sunday.

AP via Google News:

The Daily News said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has shown the country why she is a success as governor. But the paper said few would argue that Palin is truly ready to step into the job of being president despite her passion, charisma and strong work ethic.

“Gov. Palin’s nomination clearly alters the landscape for Alaskans as we survey this race for the presidency — but it does not overwhelm all other judgment. The election, after all is said and done, is not about Sarah Palin, and our sober view is that her running mate, Sen. John McCain, is the wrong choice for president at this critical time for our nation,” the paper said.

Palin is obviously without experience, but she also doesn’t seem to understand the dynamics of a large and diverse country.  She sounds like your average white flight suburb school board candidate who wants to turn back the clock and rejects good information in favor of repeated talk radio lines. McCain might have made a better president than Bush in 2000, but now sounds like he is losing track of stuff.  He doesn’t seem to be in charge of his own candidacy.

Obama has probably about the same level of experience that John Kennedy had going into 1960, and is probably better prepared.  Consider how he has learned through dint of effort and did not have a father who was a financial and political powerhouse to support him.

If one reads “Dreams From My Father” carefully, it is a penetratingly intelligent work, and reflects an ability to admit mistakes and learn from them.

Boy, after the last 8 years, having an intelligent president who can apply searching honesty and an ability to communicate well to the problems that we all face, that would be a real change.

I look forward to that.

Newspapers are losing readership faster than Banks are losing stockholders.

The job of “president” is compleatly on the job training NO ONE is ready for it.

Barak has less experience than Palin when “governance” is considered. Palin runs a State, and Barak has run nothing larger than a Senate campaign.

It is clear the media is in Barak’s court.

THE NEW DEAL made America strong enough to win World War II.

THE GREAT SOCIETY made America great enough to go to the moon.

REAGANOMICS destroyed that strength and greatness letting Gordon Gecko run free.

Obama is not a Socialist, and what he proposes is not Socialism.

The only Socialist in the race for the White House is Sarah Palin.

Alaska’s Windfall Profit Tax = Redistribution of wealth, earned by Entrepenuers.

What we have under W., and what REAGANOMICS essentially is, is a system
akin to Feudal Europe, which is what America’s founding fathers fought for
Independence from in the first place.

And just as the Palin’s
fight for Alaskan Independence,
Obama fights for
America’s Independence from Gordon Gecko,
and the Republican party
which would turn the U.S.A. into
The Peoples Republic Of America
so they could run it just like their
heroes run China.
