Obama for America

A young Barack Obama sits with his grandparents.

Barack Obama will spend Thursday and Friday off the campaign trail in order to visit his ailing grandmother, Madelyn Dunham. Obama was raised in part by his grandparents, and has credited his grandmother with teaching him “values straight from the Kansas heartland.”

AP via Google:

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is canceling nearly all his campaign events Thursday and Friday to fly to Hawaii to visit his suddenly gravely ill 85-year-old grandmother, his communications director said.

Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Obama’s plane that Obama’s grandmother, Madelyn Payne Dunham, who helped raise him, was released from the hospital late last week. But he said her health had deteriorated “to the point where her situation is very serious.”

Why are people still thinking that Obama is not an American, just because his mother moved to an asian country after he was born does not make him a foreigner, I hold a duel citizenship but Obama was just a child when his mother moved to indonesia then she wanted Obama to have a better education so he moved back to Hawaii to attend better schools.

Those who ask if Obama is an American should ask if Palin is an citizen also since Alaska was not allways a state, but even places like Hawaii, Alaska and Pureto Reco were territories another question people should ask is John McCain is a citizen since he was not born in the United States but a Naval Hospital in Panama I am amazed how people love to change facts to fit their mind set.

Going to spend time with his ailing grandmother is the right thing do….end of story. Senator Obama again shows why he “is” the best person to be president of the US. This is another clear example of (things that are of important..) the priorities in his life…“family” is one of them. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family at this time, and hope for his grandmothers speedy recovery.

It is sad that Obama may be losing his beloved grandmother. It is hard to understand that he has been vilified as being not exactly American. If he is not American that please tell me what is American.

I hope that his grandmother may get to see her grandson take the oath of office, unlikley perhaps, but she deserves to see it happen.

While Barack is out for the next few days everyone needs to continue to stump for him. Encourage people to vote early/absentee. You can find individual state guidelines at:

http://www.barackobama.com/voters/

We can’t allow complacency. Keep talking to friends/family/neighbors/coworkers about why we need this change.

Remember Vote Vote Vote!

While visiting Hawaii, he might spend some time picking up a certified copy of his birth certificate to prove his eligibility for the Presidential race.

Dear Waris Shere,

Thanks so much for your post and the inclusion of the essay by Olivia Bevis, “Caring: A Life Force”. I’d not read it, (or even been aware of it) and so now I’ve found it and will read it the entire piece.

Thanks again. And yes, the caring is certainly something we’ve witnessed from our soon to be President Barack Obama. (or as my grandson calls him..BarackO! smile)

Senator Barack Obama will suspend his campaigning for a few days to visit his grandmother who is seriously ill in Hawaii. His grandmother raised him for very many years, while his mother lived in Indonesia. Obama speaks about his grandmother in glowing terms often on the campaign stump. He describes her as an integral part of his life while he was growing up. “She’s the one who put off buying a new car or a new dress for herself so that I could have a better life,” he said in his acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention in August. “She poured everything she had into me. And although she can no longer travel, I know that she’s watching tonight, and that tonight is her night as well.” “I think everyone understands that the decision that Senator Obama is making to go to Hawaii underscores the seriousness of the situation,” Obama’s spokeperson said. “As he has said, she poured everything she had into him.” The Senator has hardly any family left. Both his parents are dead, along with his grandfather. His grandmother raised him for many years, while his mother lived in Indonesia. In Senator Barack Obama, I see a good and loving soul. Obama has basic civil sense, and is sensible enough to understand that he is in a society and has to lead his life in such a way that he, if not beneficial, does no harm to the society in any way. It is remarkable that in the middle of the campaign for the highest office of the land, obama is going to spend some time with his beloved grandmother. It shows how compassionate, caring and loyal Obama is, that he will stop whatever he’s doing just to be with his ailing grandmother. Recently I was reading an essay by Olivia Bevis titled “Caring: A Life Force”, and I started thinking of the great leader in making. Bevis writes: Caring is one of life’s essential ingredients; it may be its most essential ingredient. Caring helps to insure that life goes on by producing a positive environment for children and adults. Caring helps to educate the population, and raise human relationships to satisfying experiences of pleasure, security, trust, growth, and positive activity. Love, hate, fear, happiness, anger, pleasure, or any other emotion may have the growth-producing, energy generating, motivating, and consistently positive effects of caring. These are the great attributes I find in Barack Obama, the future President since Abraham Lincoln.
