No comment: Powell’s support of Obama has sparked reactions around the country, but none as yet from the vicinity of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Following his paradigm-shifting endorsement of Barack Obama on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” which also inevitably represented a slap to the Bush administration he once served, Colin Powell’s announcement has (thus far) been met with resounding silence from his former White House colleagues.

Los Angeles Times’ “Coundown to Crawford” blog:

“He’s not heard anything from the White House types,” said a close friend who spoke with Powell before and after his appearance on “Meet the Press” on Sunday.

On the other hand, he’s heard from just about everyone else, this Powell friend said, and response has been “overwhelmingly positive.”

The friend added:

He feels very good about what he said yesterday. He’s very comfortable with it.

LJ, I suspect that W’s legacy will extend far beyond the White House.  At the very least I agree with an analysis in THE NATION that argues that, for the last eight years, we have had a government that “fails to govern at all.”

Bush has managed to undermine the very functioning of our government in ways that those we now classify as tyrants could not have conceived!

Here we are in the worst global financial crisis since the great depression. We are fighting a “winning” war against an enemy we can not define and should never have been fighting, and losing a war against an enemy dedicated to wiping us off the face of the earth.
Their is a battle being fought for control of our government in which one side has turned to hatred and incitement of violence through intolerance as their one and only chance to win.
And where is our President during all this?
Is he standing out front and showing us the way through these tough financial times - giving us hope that our beloved country will come out stronger and more secure?
Is he leading us to a revised global strategy to realign our military focus to defeat our one sworn enemy, and bringing all of our allies on board to share in our battle terrorism?
Is he using his position as leader of the Republican party to make sure campaigns are conducted within the bounds of decency and fairness - especially guarding every citizens right to cast a ballot without intimidation or being purged?
Seems like George Junior is quite happy with his place in history - his cast-in-stone legacy will be as the least effective and laziest President this country has ever had.

Sure hope this is a genuine and not another neocon trick. If it is genuine then you and scott mccellan should get together for an expose, but I still hold reservations about your turnabout though I like the idea alot.

I think we should all be thankful for the White House silence.  It seems as if every time Bush opens his mouth, the stock market takes another dive!

If Powell has stunned Bush into silence, so much the better!

In her next stop, Palin will accuse General Powell of palling around with _____________ (fill in the blank) and being a terrorist sympathizer.. Hold it! That’s Colin Powell, we had better be careful here!

It would be very unusual for the NeoCONs to give Powell a free pass, when he took the national stage and TOLD THE TRUTH! I long for the talk show when the two guests are Colin Powell and the brainless, gas bag, Michele Bachmann. When she is booted out of office after the next election, Michele can certainly become a FUX News analyst!

This is the year of NeoCON bimbos run wild! Sounds like a Christmas break video to me!
