William Kristol was becoming apoplectic, Hillary Clinton was sounding optimistic, and the McCain campaign was being perhaps a tad unrealistic—or so read Monday’s political barometer as an ABC/Washington Post poll indicated that the Obama campaign had taken a 10-point lead in the presidential race.

ABC News:

It found that 59 percent accused McCain of negative campaigning, while 35 percent said McCain is addressing the issues.

“I think we’re headed for a very big win,” Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., told “Good Morning America” today.

Conservative Republican William Kristol wrote in The New York Times that the McCain campaign is “close to being out-and-out dysfunctional.”

“If the race continues over the next three weeks to be a conventional one, McCain is doomed,” Kristol said.

McCain, speaking today in Virginia Beach, Va., acknowledged his campaign was trailing, but denied the race was over.

“The national media has written us off. Sen. Obama is measuring the drapes,” he said to a cheering throng. He added, ” My friends, we’ve got them just where we want them.”

“Well hello Cryena!”

“I’m not racist. Are you? Sure sounds like it.”

1.  PROVE you aren’t,

2.  Mud slinger.

“Your sounding real angry again.”

1.  PROVE it, and,

2.  It’s “you’re”.

If McCain wants to be viewed by voters as being different from Bush, he really should not be taking words from Bush’s corroded mouth! You’d think the man would know better!  “Measuring the drapes” was a phrase said by George W. Bush in a speech on October 26, 2006:

October 25, 2006—WASHINGTON - President Bush said yesterday that overconfident Democrats who are already “measuring the drapes” for their move into power on Capitol Hill will have the rug pulled out from under them on Election Day.

“The Democrats have made a lot of predictions. Matter of fact, I think they may be measuring the drapes,” Bush said yesterday to laughs at a Sarasota, Fla., fund-raiser for GOP House hopeful Vern Buchanan.

Well, the rug was not pulled out from under the Democrats in 2006, but McCain has no new ideas about anything…you’d think he’d know that WE KNOW that, too!

Big B, your poll comment is true with respect to national polls. However, they win by electoral votes, not popular votes. In October 2000, Gore was well ahead in national polls, but state-by-state polling showed that neither Bush nor Gore had enough electoral votes to win. Whereas in October 2008, state-by-state polling shows Obama with a clear lead in electoral votes. Only a couple of those swing states that are leaning Obama have to go his way for him to clear 270 and win.

Another thing going for Obama is he has virtually unlimited cash to spend between now and the election, enough that he was able to buy a half-hour block of prime-time TV on two networks to air a week before the election (only two not due to money, but due to possible baseball scheduling conflicts on Fox). McCain will be offered equal time by the networks if he can afford to buy it, but It is unlikely that public-funded McCain will have the cash.

One poll?  How about mentioning the latest Zogby and Rasmusen polls showing +4 and +5 respectively for Obama?

And those two, especially Zogby are the most reliant if anybody’s taking the polls seriously.

*********************************************

Actually the Gallup daily overnight 3 day-running poll has been VERY consistent.  At the Dem convention, Obama hit 50% with his bounce.  At the GOP, McCain only hit 49%.  Since then the positions have reversed.  Obama banged on the 50% ceiling several times then broke through, going to 51, then 52%, then back down but never below 50.  Now it’s gone back up to 51% while McCain who got back to 43% is now down to 41%  It’s looking VERY much like the trend analysis is saying Obama’s going to widen the gap (now 10% again).

Looking as the graph line since March shows a very definite gap continually opening.  Clearly, the election is now Obama’s to lose. All he has to do is NOT step on his you-know-what.

I’m looking forward to somebody discovering and reporting that the AIP is a racist org and therefore places ol’ Todd Palin as a decade-long member of a racist fringe group…

It’s already looking like you can stick a fork in McCain’s campaign, but that would ice it.

Don’t forget the 10 point RV from gallup as well as the 7 and 10 point LV polls they released this afternoon. GW Battleground has an 8 and CNNS poll of polls has 8. Newsweek pulled an 11 last week.

Well hello Cryena!

Long time no hear.  Where ya been?

Glad to see you haven’t changed any!

I’m not racist. Are you? Sure sounds like it.

Your sounding real angry again.  No need to be ya know.

Don’t know why I’m wasting my time here, couldn’t resist I guess.

Hope you have a better evening.
Peace.

Well Sue Cook,

Why are YOU taking the polls seriously? Isn’t this just the strangest turn of events? Back during the Democratic Primaries, you were just rah, rah, rah for Hillary, and at the top of the anti-Obama lynch mob.

NOW you’re real good with the opposite party, because of….Sarah Palin. So, can you just admit Sue Cook, that you’re a racist man hater, and that in your world, white women are the best thing since sliced bread, with or without any substance?

You, bert, and troublesum are ideological triplets, and that’s the end of that. (you’re probably all one and the same.)

Remember “when the going gets tough, McCain just goes…”

All those moronic charges concerning Obama’s “association” with William Ayers and McCain didn’t have the cojones to make the charges to Obama’s face in the debate.  Nice going, hero!

Well folks if you wake up in January
and Half-Baked-Alaska is president (because
McGoo was inaugurated, but keeled over 10 minutes
later), it won’t be a surprise, will it?
The NeofascistRepublicans have it all figured out,
they don’t have to win.  A ballot box putsch
is now their traditional method for getting into office.

The article on McCain’s actions during the USS Forrestal tragedy can be found at:

investigating_john_mccains_tragedy_at_sea/

This is the kind of judgement McCain wants to excercise as president(another similarity to our wonderful current president).  He is exactly where he DESERVES to be in the polls.

Just go ahead and believe whatever makes you REPUBLICAN’Ts happy.  Only 5 points behind- hat’s cause to celebrate.  The American people have finally come to understand what a gas-bag Mr. McCain is.  He has been unbelievably erratic and has shown the same kind of courage as he did as a navy pilot when during the fire on the USS Forrestal he went down to the safety of the pilot’s ready-room instead of helping the rest of his shipmates FIGHT the fire that threatened to sink the carrier. Bet you didn’t know about THAT piece of trivia.  And there’s a lot more on THAT incident that the American people aren’t aware of.  Look it up.
