Petraeus Speaks

According to Gen. David Petraeus, Pakistan could be heading for a crisis that would shake the already volatile nation to its foundations if its leaders, including newly installed President Asif Ali Zardari, do not find a way to deal with the growing issue of militant violence.

BBC:

“They (Pakistan) clearly have a threat,” he said, “the nature of which and the importance of which is increasingly being recognised by those in Islamabad.”

“You have heard the newly elected President Zadari [sic]. You’ve heard the army chief and others all recognise that this is in a sense an existentialist threat, this is a threat to Pakistan’s very existence,” the general added.

This scenario is similar to the following:

A grown up man stabs a child and then tells the child to face “Existential Threat”

SHAME on Bush and his doctrine partners for causing an otherwise prosperous country to face “Existential Threat”

When former President Gen PervezMusharraf submitted to US pressure after 9/11 and ditched the Taliban in Afghanistan, he provided air bases as well as logistics support and shared intelligence with CIA.
He allowed CIA and FBI to recruit agents in FATA and other places and to establish their outposts. The focus of ISI and other agencies was shifted towards hunting and nabbing so-called terrorists all over the country, in monitoring dissident elements within the army and in political wheeling and dealings. The CIA acquired all the links ISI and MI had both sides of the Pak-Afghan border and gradually took most agents on ISI payroll within its fold. By virtue of having better technology and means the CIA was able to take over intelligence acquisition and dissemination system. As a consequence the troops operating in FATA became entirely dependent upon CIA inputs. Taking advantage of complete liberty of action, CIA succeeded in buying the loyalties of many tribal chiefs and notables in FATA by doling out dollars in sacks since it knew that the Pashtun could not be crushed by force but could be purchased.
On the behest of CIA, very conveniently a dissident Tehrik called as Tehrik e Taliabn Pakistan has been raised in FATA area headed by Baitullh Mahsud and Fazlullah. They are fully equipped with arms and ammo and with the latest communication system provided to them from across the border Afghanistan. This Tehrik is on their rampage and they are challenging the writ of government to destabilize Pakistan with the aim to declare Pakistan the most dangerous country.

This suits the known US hegemonic agenda; US ultimately wants to denuclearise Pakistan and move in to hold the most strategic position of Pakistan to achieve a full hold on lucrative economic resources of Middle East and central Asia; as well as to have a grip on the new emerging powers; next door neighbours of Pakistan; China and India.
