Andrew Sullivan is miffed that John McCain’s No. 2 is still snubbing the media (and, by extension, the public): “It is now 24 days since she was announced as a potential president of the United States next January and she still hasn’t given a news conference or has any plans to hold one. This black-out of all serious press access has never happened in modern American political history before.”

Daily Dish:

It is now 24 days since she was announced as a potential president of the United States next January and she still hasn’t given a news conference or has any plans to hold one. This black-out of all serious press access has never happened in modern American political history before.

If that doesn’t concern you, what will?

The press and news media shouldn’t feel all alone.  Some Alaskans are saying Palin has also abdicated her duties as Governor:

“Abdication by Palin”
“When did the McCain campaign take over the governor’s office?

Gov. Sarah Palin has surrendered important gubernatorial duties to the Republican presidential campaign. McCain staff are handling public and press questions about actions she has taken as governor. The governor who said, “Hold me accountable,” is hiding behind the hired guns of the McCain campaign to avoid accountability.

Is it too much to ask that Alaska’s governor speak for herself, directly to Alaskans, about her actions as Alaska’s governor? . . . “

So here’s the deal- in language as simple and irrefutable as I can make it:

If you are happy with the way things are in America right now, vote for the people who made it that way.

If you think we are on a disastrous path and want things to improve, vote for the people who will honestly try to bring about those improvements.

It’s really very simple, but as we have proven in the past, so are we…

All the rest is noise.

Yes Master! She’s used to it since her husband obviously tells her what to do also! This is totally absurd and any intelligent person has to wonder how she could possibly deal with heads of state - even for funerals - without starting another war! Lordy, we don’t need another uncontrollable vp in the white house!

In the outside chance that McCain would be elected, this means that we would have a first lady, a vice president, and a vice president dude running things - NOT!

Could it be that her handlers are adhering to the advice of Mark Twain:  “It is better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.”

With all the underhanded moves the Repugnuts have pulled in the last 20 years, you should have expected this unqualified [expletive deleted] to show up. Well, I’m not buying their Bullshit. Never have. People forget that Dems are for people, while Repugnuts are for stuff (for themselves)

Some sobering numbers: Our country has (that it admits to) nearly 4,000 operational nuclear warheads in its arsenal and can target them on virtually any city on earth with a population of over 50,000 in minutes. A first or second strike by our side alone in any full scale nuclear scenario will mean the end of intelligent life, plant life, and all but microorganisms and certain resilient underground insects on this rock. More likely in a full scale nuclear exchange is a trade of 7,000 devices. Cockroaches will not survive.
A white 72 year old male in the US of average health has a life expectancy of 3.8 years. One who has had recurrent, aggressive malignant melanoma three times after resection has considerably less. None of this seems to matter to the masters of our destiny in the GOP, who in their infinite wisdom cling to the notion that this simple country bumpkin is somehow not only fit to decide our fates, but is in fact an ideal choice. This woman, in all seriousness, is not completely at fault, she has been systematically brainwashed since birth to believe a conservative credo that preaches a dogmatic hybrid of religion and oppression, including her own, and is not intelligent enough to see it happening since the half dozen colleges she attended apparently never taught philosophy.
The one hope I have, since I hold no hope that the population that picked Chancellor Bush to live out his Mein Kampf in 2004 will make an intelligent choice, is that her state ethics missteps will prompt her to take a family-related late exit from the race. For all of our sakes. Picture, if you will, President Sarah Palin. If she doesn’t go away, it will happen.

In re: the non-showing of the greatly touted and mostly conservative governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, we must understand that she is in training for the marathon of running for the V.P.‘s job.
Phid, the Democrats are not populists, we are a party of principled and directed members who have at heart the best for this country and do not govern by the “finger in the wind method.”
Sarah Palin, deserves everything she gets from the press and the Democrats, as she went on the attack in her acceptance speech. She does not yet know the political pain she will endure for her choices and the facts that are now out there for all the world to see. Given the state of affairs that this country is in right now and the fact that the electorate places much value on the “values” of a candidate, Sarah Palin is getting off easy. She should thank her lucky stars that the press is not digging any further into the running of Alaska.
I am surely convinced that if John McCain, is elected president, Sarah Palin, will be running this country within a matter of months not years. Therefore, if she is to stand for the office, I want to know everything about her and the conditions she has created in the state of Alaska.

“Yes, but, we have never had a candidate quite like the gun totin’ gOvernor and religious nut job, from MooseJaw!”

Why is it that there is so much hatred for Sarah Palin?  I thought the Democrats thought of themselves as “populist”, yet when the ultimate populist is a VP candidate they spare no attack in their ferocity against her. Isn’t it time the personal attacks on Palin and her family stop?

The answer is: the Repugs realize that Palin is an over-the-top liability who has NO business being in the running for VP despite some of the American public who think that just because she sounds like them (God help us!), she should be a heartbeat away from being the POTUS.  She has more baggage than they thought, vetted her AFTER THE FACT/after her announcement as McSame’s running mate. Palin has an interview with Couric coming up…let’s see how she handles THAT interview…Gibson was too light and Hannity’s “interview” was pitiful—how anyone could take that ass seriously is beyond me. Then there’s the Oct. 2nd debate with Joe Biden…Cliff Notes, anyone? Reminds me of the original “Stepford Wives”...some of the questions she’ll get will not be part of her “vocabulary” and she’ll try and answer a question she wasn’t asked.
