The McCains Have 12 More Cars Than the Obamas

The 2008 incarnation of McCain’s personal hoopty, the Cadillac CTS. The Arizonan drives an ‘04 (presumably when he’s not borrowing one of his wife’s many other cars).

Forget houses, John and Cindy McCain have 13 cars to Barack and Michelle Obama’s one. McCain would point out that most of the vehicles are in his wife’s name, but still, you can’t call the other guy an elitist when you sleep with one.

Newsweek:

McCain’s personal ride, a 2004 Cadillac CTS, is no gas sipper, but it should make Detroit happy because it’s made by General Motors. “I’ve bought American literally all my life and I’m proud,” McCain said in the interview with Detroit’s WXYZ-TV. But the rest of his fleet is not all-American. There’s a 2005 Volkswagen convertible in the garage along with a 2001 Honda sedan. Otherwise, there’s a 2007 half-ton Ford pickup truck, which might come in handy on the Sedona ranch; a vintage 1960 Willys Jeep; a 2008 Jeep Wrangler; a 2000 Lincoln; and a 2001 GMC SUV. The McCains also own three 2000 NEV Gem electric vehicles, which are bubble-shaped cars popular in retirement communities.

Hulk 2008: you are absolutely right; straight on; however, the PEOPLE of this country are still in denial or perhaps have never yet woke up to the fact that multiple countries have far more benefits & a Gov that actually is FOR the people & LAWS that are for MORE than “just the books”; but enforce them; gosh, wouldn’t THAT be nice for a change! both parties are in complete agreement; it is dictatorship & always has been; & it is all for the Corps & the wealthy with every single possible thing done against the people of this nation (legal ones) & we are told “this is how democracy works”; not; it is the way criminals work; sadly they twist the Word of God & with the deliberately preplanned melt down to cheat more people of this country out of everything they claim “they” are the righteous & thus deserve the wealth of the “wicked” who are the people of this country; remember: they brought over the top Nazi’s to study: how it was done & improve upon it; how they were “caught” and how THEY can not be; and the people of this nation are under the impression that they are free & don’t even realize that every thing the Nazi’s used is being utilized to the max; they are working for the deceiver oppressing others instead of setting them free or sounding the alarm; irregardless of who is elected & comes into office the plan is already underway as it has been for years: the whole world knows the truth except for the American people;

Troublesum:

.....And you get MY point exactly.  Republicans claim to be “conservative” but “Conspicuous consumption” is anything but that.  The immigrants who came to America by the millions were/are the ultimate conservatives - they arrived with almost nothing, conserved what they had, and made a nation out of what little they could scrounge - their inheritance was grit and creativity not stocks and credit swaps.  Let the CEOs and upper management of those recently-failed financial whales pay for their poor “leader"ship.  McCain in his position as head of the Commerce Committee couldn’t lead a child’s kool-aid stand. He and his whole family have been on “national health” for several generations - talk about socialism.  He should thank his 2nd wife and the government dole for everything he has.

Yeah, and along with those $700 shoes! And he has the audacity to label Obama as an elitist! But, then again, I guess he still thinks we are all stupid?

HULK2008
My point is that republicans don’t see conspicuous consumption as elitism.  Real Americans get out there and buy stuff.

Dear Troublesum,

By your logic, then, all those homeless guys down at the Mission and the working poor who have no cars at all and therefore must rely on public transportation to get to/from work are the TRUE Elitists among us (?).  Fascinating.
I forgot to mention children and the old folks too feeble to drive anymore.
Our “government” lost the idea of “of the People.. etc.” many years ago.  We are now a solid oligarchy run by the very wealthy and corporations - we are merely serfs in their feudal system.

McCain, a Republican, actually has a chance in wining the Presidency. After all what the Republicans have done to America, and Americans, with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the banking melt down (sponsored by McCain’s friend and economic counsellor, who, as senator from Texas, was the prime Republican force pushing through the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act which repealed the old Glass-Steagall Act, which prohibited a commercial bank from being in the investment and insurance business) are about to vote in another Republican! The democrats are no better, but I would have thought it was time to get rid of the right wing warmongers and start putting America on a correct path. But no, Americans have not learned anything.

I guess a third line is needed on this old adage:

“FOOL ME ONCE, SHAME ON YOU!”

“FOOL ME TWICE, SHAME ON ME!”

“FOOL ME THRICE, I MUST BE A REAL FUCKEN EDIOT!!!”

An update to this saying I feel exemplifies Americans exactly.

But you see, a real elitist would have only one car which would almost certainly be an economical one with good gas milage because elitists care about sissy and uppity things like the environment and global warming, whereas any regular joe would like to have 20 cars and not give a damn what anybody thought.  Regular guys like conspicuous consumption.  So Obama’s one car really nails him as an elitist.  Ask any republican.

I need an RV or a used Fleetwood Class A motor home. Do they have one of those? I’m not worried about the gas, ‘cause I plan to drive it 3 miles a day, between the parking lot that allows night parking for the homeless, and the beach that allows day parking.

If the McCains don’t have one of those, they can just give me any one of the others to use as a trade in.
