Rice: Russia on the Wrong Track

Although she acknowledged that Georgia fired the first shots in August’s bloody conflict with Russia, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday laid most of the blame for that showdown on Russia. During a strident speech, she also gave several other examples of how she believed Russia’s leaders were taking their nation down a dangerous road.

“The Georgian government launched a major military operation into Tskhinvali [the capital of South Ossetia] and other areas of that separatist region,” she said.

“Regrettably, several Russian peacekeepers were killed in the fighting,” she added.

But Ms Rice said that Russia had escalated the conflict.

“Russia’s leaders violated Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and launched a full-scale invasion across an internationally recognised border,” she said, adding that Russia had also violated the terms of a ceasefire negotiated by the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy.

Ms Rice said it had been “deeply disconcerting” that Russia had tried to “dismember” Georgia by recognising Abkhazia and South Ossetia, and argued that Russia’s actions were part of what she described as a “worsening pattern of behaviour”.

“I refer…to Russia’s intimidation of its sovereign neighbours, its use of oil and gas as a political weapon…its threat to target peaceful neighbours with nuclear weapons…and its persecution - or worse - of Russian journalists and dissidents,” she added.

so we went in to Iraq to ‘liberate’ them, yet when it comesto tow regions which want their Freedom from Georgian Rule, We blame the Country which has attempted to Liberte them???
Georgian Pres. Attacked is own Citizens. If Bush and Cheney decided Alaska had presented a Problem because they wanted To break off, they would have done the same thing. Apparently we only allow Liberation and Freedom to those who are willing to sign over their Oil Rights (or byways) To the multinational Oil Corps.
If Rice thinks the American People have not seen this Schizophrenia in regards to foreign Policy she is as Stupid as we have been Proclaiming her to be!
I am not a Capital Punishment supporter,But when it comes to this Adminsitration and their Corp sponsors, I will be able to Jusitfy it in my own mind quite easily! Treason, War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity -Blood for Oil= crippling economies, food supply, shelter, and Defense against not only foreign but Domestic Enemies are Basic Essential human/citizen needs which are Gov’t duty Responsilbities. They have not only Failed to meet these Duties, they have intentionally destroyed the ability of people to provide these things for themselves- by highjacking the Free market and handing it to the Multinational Corps!

Does her brow always furrow up like that when she knows she has a dog that ain’t gonna hunt, or is that just an artifact of digitization?

Stephen, I’m not sure what it is (artifact of digitization..what a nifty phraseology wink )

BUT….her brow DOES always furrow up like that. I doubt if it has anything to do with her ‘knowing’ anything though, since she doesn’t.

And of course there’s the standard irony here again, (as usual) of somebody else being on ‘the wrong track’. Hell, she’s been on the ‘wrong track’ all of her life. By all rights of natural law, if she’d ever been on the RIGHT one, her ass would have been run over.

I think she should move to Alaska with Sarah Palin. Put her that much closer to Siberia.

I guess, Russian leaders spoke too much against US politic in the last few years (Kosovo, Iraq, Afganistan, etc.) for US politician’s comfort.  I bet US dream-peace is to have puppets in all the countries that will go along with what US say….  I wish the best to Russia—they are using their brain!

When the economists and politicians in the West say that Russia is irrelevant because has nothing to offer except oil and gas, they may be right.  Question: what does USA has given the World except for “creative financing”?  I guess this is now called “service economy”. It is like banking, insurance…  Great service!!

And US foreign policy….  Condi - you killed less people than Hitler or Stalin, but more than Hussein or the other former US protegee, Bin Laden.  Along with your boss, you are a disgrace.  Just don’t attack Iran, OK?  Please?  Go join the Board of some weapons or oil company.  Play golf.  Disappear. Nobody likes you.

First they pushed the Russians into the corner, and behaved like pigs (with no lipstick) themselves for years, and when the Russians pushed back, Rice$Bush screaming about bad Kremlin.

Putin/Medvedev acted effectively, fast and humanely.  They were in and out of Georgia proper in a few weeks.
What is exactly are they doing wrong.  They don’t agree when a paranoic ethnically cleanses their citizens? They are not happy when NATO puts up a bunch of missiles and radar that clearly threaten them?  That they are selling oil, not just giving it away for free?

If Condi and Bush sat in the Kremlin, they would have leveled Tbilisi with a “shock and owe”, then printed 52 cards with Georgian faces and labeled Saakashvili as ace of spades, and had Ossetians hang him (which he deserves).

The media repeating the tale about Russian Bear and its threat to the world is disgusting.  Just as they were disgusting when US invaded Iraq.

Wow…I just despise this angel of death, Condi Rice.  In another life, she would have been the worst dictator.  She virtually destroyed the diplomatic process in the World.  Everything went down the drain - the Middle East, Latin America (Chavez, Morales, Castro…), relationship with Russia.  All she knows is the cold war, stuff she learned at school being “an expert” on the Soviet Union.  She is either totally incompetent or she deliberately works again the peace process to make sure money flows to Pentagon and the military-industrial complex (on both sides).  She is just frustrated that she is so irrelevant and a total failure.  I think Rice should stand trial along with Rumsfield, Bremer, Cheney and the rest of them irresponsible bigots.  They came from HELL!!!  Go back already!

As I read her comments, I couldn’t help but see that every thing she’s accusing the Russians of committing, we did the same about 5 years ago. This really does show that this current Administration is without excuse for their crimes. If they can see themselves in another nation, and can see the evil, then they admit to their own evil by default.

Oh, ‘she acknowledged that Georgia fired the first shots’? Did she? Such a shame, the site claims to be a ‘truth dig’! This is what she really said:

‘On August 7th, following repeated violations of the ceasefire in South Ossetia, including the shelling of Georgian villages, the Georgian government launched a major military operation into Tskhinvali and other areas of the separatist region.’

Open your eyes, the only thing you are doing is making fascist Russians happy by bristling like jackals!

Yes I can see it.Finally we can move to something you may know about.Dealing with the Russians in a cold war scenario.Condi thinks the Russians are on the wrong track and 80% of the American people think this administration is on the wrong track.Somewhere in those numbers is the calculation that no none cares what Condi thinks.Condi look into Putin’s eyes and read his soul.If you are not reading who cares what she thinks look again.

OK.  We get it.  Goliath & gang wants world dominance.  No country has any rights to oil, gold and any natural resources unless it is endorsed by the goliath and gang.  Where does it leave us common people??  More insecure, more hated throughout the world each coming day…  Here are some new definitions in our foreign policy dictionary that are practiced everyday:

“Democracy” means Whatever goliath & gang wants
“Liberating” means killing the resistance
“Humand Aid” means Acquiring logistics to control
“Freedom” means policing rights for the Goliath
“Civil Rights” means patriot law
“Women Rights” means no clothes
“Disagree” means either you are with us or with terrorists
“Ally” means otherwise you will be bombed
“Success”  means more Muslims are killed in a given day than Americans
“Border” means ‘Enter’ here if you like!
“Economy is strong” means there are still workers alive to bear the cost of wrongdoings by the Goliath
“Muslim”  means enemy
“Treasury” means Feds can dump ___ here
“War” means good business venture for Oil and Weapon companies
“Bank” means PROFIT ALWAYS no matter what
“Goliath” means a select few power hungry maniacs in the world who use primarily US taxpayer money to launch their ventures.

Feel free to add on to the list if you like!

Noticing a general pattern in neo-con tactics:  determine what you’re bad at, and then accuse your opponent(s) of being really bad at that same thing.  That way, if they retort, it just looks like a reciprocated insult, and then maybe you can fool all observers of your weaknesses…

Reading that outrageous article about Rice had me shaking my head.  Have they no shame?!  To be calling Russia ‘irrelevant’ really shines the light on American irrelevance.  Once the US$ collapses, Americans won’t be able to buy foreign oil, and a general collapse will result in many areas.
Russia, on the other hand, is an energy giant, and geo-politically positioned to affect the majority of other gas/oil supplies.

Rice, who you trying to kid?

The whole world would be better off if Condi spent her time shopping for shoes, playing the piano and going to Broadway shows instead of meddling in complicated foreign policy issues which her right wing tunnel vision means she can never comprehend or make any useful contribution to.

I have to keep reminding myself that this feckless numbskull was the same idiot who claimed to be a Russian policy expert back in the 80s, yet didn’t see the fall of the USSR coming.

Now, she, Dick Vader, Gramps, Rove, and their assorted cronies have provoked the Georgians to poke the Great Bear with the promise of NATO support they knew they could not deliver. Now that Russia has answered that callin’ out, Georgia is not even assured US support unless Dumya institutes a draft, a move that really will get his dumb butt impeached.

... it’s use of oil and gas as a political weapon… My, my, my, that took great nerve from the politically retarded ReThug agent of a team of right winged criminals for whom the pursuit of oil and gas is the favorite political weapon. But, then again, let that outfit tell it, it’s not fascism when they do it.

Condi is the absolute worst foreign policy person to occupy the Office of the Secretary of State in the entire history of the United States of America! THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!! She’s an embarrassment to women in government EVERYWHERE! First 9/11, now this! I hope that’s an accomplishment in the depth of ineptitude she’s prepared to proudly bear upon her return to Stanford in January, providing Stanford will have her back, and her presence isn’t required in the Hague. Hopefully she really isn’t so brain-dead that she actually believes history is going to be any-what kind to this murderous administration of stupid reactionary nuts trying to pass off their criminal neo-Nazi incompetence as mere conservatism.
