John McCain has repeatedly promised “victory” in Iraq, but his personal hero and the outgoing commander of that war says he’ll probably never use the word. In a conversation with the BBC, a relatively upbeat Gen. David Petraeus foretells of a “long struggle.”

BBC:

The outgoing commander of US troops in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, has said that he will never declare victory there.

In a BBC interview, Gen Petraeus said that recent security gains were “not irreversible” and that the US still faced a “long struggle”.

I’m not sure what I feel more toward Patraeus- Sadness or Respect.
Sad for the apparent fact Petraeus is willing to put his Service record and his Name in History on the list of Discredit and Complicit.
Respect for the hope he is fulfilling his duty to those who serve below him. Taking one for the Team so they don’t get stuck under some dumbass Bush would choose to replace him with.
Powell Steps down and we get Rice and a few more International Problems
Granted Rummy stepping down wasa blessing- but that doesn’t seem to indicate he’s out of the game- just in the shadows. And Gates seems to Confused as to WHO He Works For….It’s US!!!NOT Bush or Cheney Or the Corps or the Oil ‘Royals’ of the UAE/OPEC!!!!
Chetoffs a Jerk Off
Parrino can’t pull her underwear out of her own ass without scripted instructions, that state at the end ‘Repeat process as needed’
Paulson stumbles overhimself to be the first to give the ‘Federal Reserve’ and their subsidiaries a Hand (Job).Jesus Paulson get some knee pads! And get a Pair for Mukasay Too- obviously Gonzales had to take his with him so he could blow the ‘Investigating’ Committee members!

So if Petraeus is willing to live out the rest of his years under the Cloud of Criminal activity and Ineptitude of this Admin, I hope he is doing so for a Honorable Cause!

Calm down everybody!  Bush declared victory years ago on a carrier deck in his flight suit.

You can smear lipstick all over this whole 7 or 8 year debacle and it’s still a victory.

Next subject?

Shouldn’t these idiots define victory in our hegemonic occupation of the soverign nation that neither attacked us nor posed an immenent threat to us?

We Can’t Let The War-Mongering General David Petreaus Decide

“Who instead?”

“Us.”

“How will this come about?”

“We elect someone president who’s going to dismantle Empire-USA plus turning things around here at home.”

“And then what sort of world?”

“It’ll be up to us.”
