Fact-Checking McCain’s ‘Alaska Maverick’ Ad

Alaska Maverick ad
factcheck.org

With all the spin and rumor-mongering going on this election season, it’s a good thing there’s FactCheck.org to do some much-needed investigation, because those inflated claims and scurrilous smears only work when voters don’t do their homework. Here, the FactCheck squad tackles the McCain campaign ad entitled “Alaska Maverick,” about a certain lady from the Land of the Midnight Sun.

FactCheck.org:

The ad uses a partial quote—she “has a record of bi-partisan reform”—from an Aug. 29 Associated Press report. Those words do appear in the article, but so do several others that aren’t as flattering.

In fact, the AP report raises some questions about Palin’s credentials, saying: “She is younger and less experienced than the first-term Illinois senator, and brings an ethical shadow to the ticket.” It also says, “Palin’s lack of experience undercuts GOP charges that Obama is not ready to be commander in chief.”

The ad also quotes the Wall Street Journal as saying, “Governor Palin’s credentials as an agent of reform exceed Barack Obama’s.” But those words didn’t come from the newspaper’s reporters, they came from the WSJ’s editorial board, which is notably conservative and generally friendly to Republicans and hostile to Democrats.

Opportunists taking advantage of situations proved some delving into moral correctness, some people have inherent developed integrity, how a person lives their life, starting with respecting others beliefs.  Living a life of righteous turpitude, always starts with using denial and lies as their foundation, not worthy of consideration or reflection, one can only be aware and watch ones back.

Apparently God talks to this moron as well. That’s all I need to know.

then there is the FACT that she charged the state for staying in her home…. for over 50% of her days as Govenor. Legal? perhaps. Ethical? not so much. Reformer? Naw… just another republican thief grabbing all she can while she can.

Re: Rowman

I’ve never known a librarian, who told a lie, but I’ve known lots of politicians who have told lots of lies . . . and since Palin is a politician, I believe it’s highly more probable that she is the liar.

Or, Do As I Say, Not As I Do

The Woman who wants to tell us what to do as vice-president says she is all for “Choice” at least for whether women with disabled infants and pregnant teenagers should be allowed to work full time as a governor and potential president or stay at home and take care of the kids.

She says in her campaign propaganda she wants to allow all kinds of happy Choices once she is in control. . .

•  so long as the Choices do not involve women learning how to prevent pregnancies,
•  so long as the Choices do not involve women having sex prior to marriage, and
•  so long as the Choices do not involve women terminating an unwanted pregnancy even if the lack of Choice threatens the life or health of the women.

That’s not really much of a Choice, is it?  And, don’t you have reason to suspect that if she herself was not stuck with a disabled infant plus a pregnant teenager, she would be insisting there should be no Choice on even that?  In light of her other positions, don’t you suspect she would normally deny choice for someone in that predicament?

The voters do have a choice though.  Voters can chose to say no to those who want to order women what to do even when it is a woman doing the ordering.

rowman,

Palin, is so much different than we were told, by those truth changers in the media.  She never supported killing the wolves by helicopter and never sued the federal government to drop Polar Bears from the endangered list.  It is nice to know I can go to the library and get my copy of “Catcher in the Rye”.

Was trooper gate made up too?

Interesting story on NewsWeek
http://www.newsweek.com/id/157986

Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she tripled per-pupil funding over just three years.

She did not demand that books be banned from the Wasilla library. Some of the books on a widely circulated list were not even in print at the time. The librarian has said Palin asked a “What if?” question, but the librarian continued in her job through most of Palin’s first term.

She was never a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, a group that wants Alaskans to vote on whether they wish to secede from the United States. She’s been registered as a Republican since May 1982.

Palin never endorsed or supported Pat Buchanan for president. She once wore a Buchanan button as a “courtesy” when he visited Wasilla, but shortly afterward she was appointed to co-chair of the campaign of Steve Forbes in the state.

Palin has not pushed for teaching creationism in Alaska’s schools. She has said that students should be allowed to “debate both sides” of the evolution question, but she also said creationism “doesn’t have to be part of the curriculum.”

The WaPo revealed today that Palin charged the State of Alaska a per diem for every day she has lived in her own home while governor.  Apparently legal, but ethical?

The campaign has quickly shifted to Obama v. Palin hasn’t it? Is McCain ready to be the vice president and, if there is a tragedy that befalls Palin, is he ready to be president?

Does his POW history in a forgotten war that the US lost give him an edge?

The party of liars and corporate corruption has just found its poster child. Congratulations Palin, you hypocritical, secessionist-loving queen of pork. You’ve got a lot of lies to fill the shoes of your predecessor.
