Laurel ICE Raid
nytimes.com

ICE agents arrest immigrant workers in Laurel, Miss., on Monday, ostensibly for using false documents to obtain work.

ICE raids—federal officials who bust into rural factory towns to arrest suspected “illegal immigrants”—continued this week in Laurel, Miss. The town about 18,000 saw federal officials revise the number of people arrested in the raid to 595. It remained unknown whether the majority of detainees would serve jail time or be immediately deported.

The New York Times:

Federal officials on Tuesday revised upward to 595 the number of suspected illegal immigrants arrested this week in a raid on a Laurel, Miss., factory, making it the largest immigration crackdown on a United States workplace in recent years.

On Monday, the day of the raid, officials said at least 350 people had been arrested.

Officials said 475 of the immigrants were immediately taken by bus to a detention center in the central Louisiana town of Jena and would face deportation. At least eight appeared in federal court in Hattiesburg, Miss., on Tuesday, where they faced criminal charges of aggravated identity theft, which usually means stealing a Social Security number or using a false address.

Call and write your Congressmen…fill their inboxes and voice mail. Don’t get comfortable with this “crackdown”. We know that we are going to have another pro amnesty President in a few months as McCain and Obama both support it. Be warned…the word on the street is that these raids are meant to distract US citizens long enough to sneak through amnesty. There have been numerous attempts to slide the “DREAM” Act(warning!!danger!!!) into legislation in both the House and Senate. As a matter of fact, these attempts have stalled some otherwise good legislation from passing. Don’t relax. This is the time to be as loud as possible. Check the voting record of your Congressmen/Senators. Send a message and vote out these traitors

A comment from an employee of this firm. There are lots of people living in America “seeking a better life” who were born here, including me. By the way, Mrs.Howard is a big McCain donor.

Yeah, I work at Howard Ind. and ICE finally came!!! It was awesome. Helicopter, hundreds of agents, made my day.

I.C.E. finally enforces our immigratin laws at Howard Ind. in Laurel, MS Not sure really of the exact numbers working at Howard’s but it is well over a thousand for sure. All I can say is it is about time…Couldn’t have come at a better time as the Company was about to break it off in us. We are currently renegotiating our contract with the company and with all the non-union illegal aliens that WERE working here we didn’t have much of a foot to stand on. WE DO NOW!!!!...
I believe Mr. Humberto Gonzales (personal director, go figure) will probably end up being the patsy when all this is said and done. I’m sure the Howard’s will be saying, “What? You mean they’re all illegal? We never would have hired them if we had known that!”

Yes Howard.  The owners should be doing the perp walk as well. Why arrest pros and not the johns?  Why arrest slaves and not the slave owners?  The owners hired these people knowing full well they were illegal Heck, these businesses have recruited these people so that they don’t have to pay minimum wage or health, education, welfare benefits.

This country has always found people to exploit for slave labor.

Mexico needs to take care of its own people.

They should have a big pressure pipe back to Mexico.. Every time an illegal is discovered Swoosh just like those old Macy’s cash tubes.

I’m sick of the treason occuring against real American citizens. native or naturalized.

Well, we no longer need these hard working human beings. Lets declare them criminals and send them back. If wee need them again we just let them in and make believe we did not see them cross the border.

The only problem is they didn’t take in the managers also.  Take them in and lock them up a little while.  Make it a real incovenient. Heck you know they knew.  They are just as quilty as the illegals. The only difference is management makes campaign contributions.
