Was Lee Harvey a “trained sniper”?  He worked in a bookstore as a lowly clerk. Yeah, right. How about a FBI mole spying inside the CIA?  Do the research.  Do a J.Edgar Hoover/George H.W. Bush/J.F.K. google. 
But that was a conspiracy. This is about folks who should never be in legal possession of lethal weaponry, based on their social-psycholgical perspective !! Associating the Ted and Chapaquidick(MaryJoe catastrophy) is, simply, begging the question and breaks the rules of logical debate & discussion. Therefore, it is not deserving of a response as it has NOTHING to do with the
question(s) at hand. It, in itself, is purely diversionary (and blatently so).
My personal opinion....If you want to do something to a perceived enemy, find a rock and heave it at them.  Then, if they feel as you do, they can heave one back at you.  That way, you both get your point across and NOBODY dies.
Check out guns and violence and death statistics in other developed countries and see where we “stack up” statistically. The problem for most of your like-minded folks lies in the saying, “don’t give me facts, I know what I believe and, facts, only creates complication in those beliefs”.  That’s the underlying reason behind where this great country now finds itself. Fools that can bring back the “chimp” for four more years are the problem. But I, for one, would never advocate violence against such idiots. I’d rather go with the non-violent, attempt/approach to teach them the truth. That’s because I’m a “wussy”, right. Just my two-cents.

CBS4 has learned at least four people are under arrest in connection with a possible plot to kill Barack Obama at his Thursday night acceptance speech in Denver. All are being held on either drug or weapons charges.

CBS4 Investigator Brian Maass reported one of the suspects told authorities they were “going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a … rifle … sighted at 750 yards.”

Law enforcement sources tell Maass that one of the suspects “was directly asked if they had come to Denver to kill Obama. He responded in the affirmative.”

The story began emerging Sunday morning when Aurora police arrested 28-year-old Tharin Gartrell. He was driving a rented pickup truck in an erratic manner according to sources.

Sources told CBS4 police found two high-powered, scoped rifles in the car along with camouflage clothing, walkie-talkies, wigs, a bulletproof vest, a spotting scope, licenses in the names of other people and 44 grams of methamphetamine. One of the rifles is listed as stolen from Kansas.

WE absolutely are at opposite ends of the spectrum on this topic and my utilization of “right” vs. right was intended as such.  I see the issue “for” having guns as a “right” side thought process, whether demo or Repug.  And just as you reserve your right to be “for” you should be opened-minded enough to respect mine of “against”.  That doesn’t mean that we must agree on this issue, but we both have a right to have our respective opinions.  Mine doesn’t cause unnecessary harm to man or beast.  Your’s, on the otherhand, does.

Who’s really behind this alleged attack? The worst thing that has happened to this commenter is that I don’t trust anything from MSM, government, or law enforcement since 2000.

really, your going to bring this to gun control jobart? first and foremost it is a right, not a “right” and its one i have fought for. that aside, its not the point of this comment. It states in the article clearly one of the guns was stolen.  Gun control would not have stopped them from getting it. Second, It never said what kind of rifle it was, nor the effective range, those numbers you just pulled out of the air, and have no bearing on this in the slightest.  And “murdering” the deer?  dont allow hunting at all..overpopulation would kill them in a much more gruesome fashion, after killing how several “innocent” motorists.Third, the NRA will not provide them legal representation, as this doesnt involve them in the slightest, the nra supports proper use of guns, not some methed out shooting spree. its not an issue of “cajones”.  And yes, high powered rifles are necessary for a wide variety of reason i will not go into here, even in the civilian population.  the issue isnt the weapons they had in the slightest.  its an unreasonable, and unhealthy bias that was the issue, the same as you are showing toward the gun owning populus by trying to turn the issue to gun control.  The fact of the matter is that these people would have attempted this regardless of what weapon they would have been able to obtain.  Its the mindset of these people, that needs to be changed, until that happens you will see this repeated. take away the guns, and they will find something else to do it with.

Yes,how frightening..a lawless nation is a nation heading for a leader who will return law and order etc...all at the expense of freedom...here we have a hilltop (grassy knoll) a high powered rifle and a cast member named ‘adolph’. The American way should always be by the ballot box not the bullet..no one who truly wants democracy would want to hurt any public servant candidate..here at least Obama is honest in what he wants to do..he does not suger coat it or pin it onto a waving USFlag.May the secret service and all local authorities take this warning seriously and protect him and all candidates from now on.I still have editorials from when the much beloved and maligned President Kennedy was assassinated..they preached that ‘hatred’ in any form must be eliminated from the political arena..agree to disagree sure..then vote..then shake hands and get on with it..may this ominous attempt never happen again..amen

The “right” to bear arms? Just another example to place some sensible restrictions on gun ownership? High powered weaponry, accurate to 750 yards, possessed by white supremists?  Can’t they get closer to that deer that they intended to murder?  Or are they for “hunting” squirrels?  No matter.  This occurence just reinforces the desperate need for an intelligent debate on the whole subject. Let’s see if the NRA has the “cajones” to provide these guys with legal representation. I dare them.
