Time Says McCain Will Pick RomneyPosted on Aug 21, 2008
Mark Halperin tells of two “Republicans close to the situation” who say McCain has settled on Mitt Romney as his VP. Still other Republicans say the decision hasn’t been made, while The New York Times is reporting that Gen. David Petraeus could be in the running. Barack Obama, meanwhile, has made his choice, but he’s keeping hush.

Hillary and Bill Clintons speech at the Convention were tremendous! And all while Hillary spoke on Tues. you kept thinking, why is she not the candidate. Then when Bill Clinton spoke yesterday on Wednesday it made you think even more, why is Hillary not the candidate? Then we would have had two Brilliant people back in the White House. But Obama picked this Biden guy and unfortunately it is not enough he will still probably loose. It is all over the news, everyone is saying, The Clintons did what they had to, now no one can blame the Clintons if Obama looses. They are also saying they would love it if Obama truly liked the Clintons and consulted them when making important decisions in the White House but everyone said, Obama will not do that and there is still bad blood more on Obamas part then on the Clintons part. Im afraid that might be true. And McCain has been sounding more and more like a Democrat-Independent which he is And if McCain picks Romney for the economy, McCain will most Definitely Clinch the Nomination oh boy I do like Barack but with his Inexperience and Naïve ways everyone is still saying that he just will not win. Well Let the Best Man Win.

Despite the Dems and the allied main stream medias desperation to see Romney as McCains Veep, Mitt is clearly out, with (1) Obama doubling down on the class warfare theme (McCains 7 houses) and (2) McCain doubling down with ads showing the hypocrisy of Biden attacking Obama in the primaries Romney did way more than that contra McCain.
This leaves only Govs Sarah Palin and Tim Pawlenty. Pro-abortion Ridge and Dem-Lieberman were never real considerations, despite relentless media goading. Pawlentys lackluster TV performances, coupled with Palin pizzazz, the primacy of oil drilling and the ticked off women/Hillary voters, does now portend a McCain/Palin checkmate on the Dems. This is so albeit the Dems and liberal media dare not mention Palins name, that is, everyone but ..
And if theres any question as to Palin being uniquely positioned and able to more than nullify Biden in debate, see the excellent discussion at palinforvp.blogspot.com
Team McCain, well done!!!

McCain * Romney ‘08!! Awesome ticket. Winning ticket.
Romney is the best choice hands down. If the Huckabites don’t want to vote for McCain because he picks Romney, well shame on them. They are so bigoted they can’t see what is best for the country. All they see is their own narrow-minded hate-filled view of the world. How sad and pathetic.
We need Romney on the ticket. He will do an outstanding job as he has done on everything else in his life. He’s a class act.

Report thisI have always thought that if americans are smart enough to be trusted with the power of the vote, we should, and are, sophisicated enough to handle the truth(I gotta stop watching so many movies)about the inner workings of the exectutive office. There should always be full disclosure in all of OUR government activities. If what the president wants to do will be disagreed with by a majority of the public, he ought not to do it. We are big boys and girls, and if we cannot handle decisions of great national importance, then why should we be trusted with electing people to do it for us? After all, this is the elecronic and internet age, there are almost no secrets anymore. People on the net knew that Georgia had attacked Russia long before the news media caught on.
My hope is that Americans will now put on the Big boy pants and begin to take back responsibility for their government. Because when an american contractor pulls someones fingernails out in the name of national security, we all share some of the blame for that repugnant act.
We may now need to pack our bags and go on a national guilt trip.

Southern Baptists are the largest Protestant group in America. Joseph Smith’s Golden Plates of Nephi are complete heresy to them. They program their flocks to disdain and denounce Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons and Muslims. They are very distrustful of Catholics and Methodists are deemed much to liberal. I see many staying home or going for Ron Paul if Romney is McCain’s ruining mate. In the least they will leave with a sour taste in their mouths if they do vote the McCain/Romney ticket. I will be surprised if McCain’s group actually goes for Romney as V.P.

By Big B,
Will his first action as president be to eliminate the new omnipetant powers that our last two presidents have given the office? Like the power that modern presidents have assumed to make war wherever and whenever they want, without congressional approval.
Then again, I would also like to see the abolition of the most dangerous facist threat the US has ever known, The Supreme Court. A lifetime political appointment that requires no accountability to the people of the US?
Big B, if youre actually really interested in this, its been a topic of conversation within my own environment, (which is a primarily academic one, but Im particularly involved in my community). One of our suggestions for one of Obamas first actions as president would be to make public, ALL of the SIGNING STATEMENTS that Cheney et al have used over the past 8 years to undermine the Constitution, and decapitate the Congress in order to install what Cheney has long planned as an Imperial Presidency.
Now I offer only an introduction to this, and mention the part about if youre really interested (or serious) about this, not to be dismissive, but only because nearly ALL of us know that weve been thoroughly screwed, but only a small minority have actually bothered to figure out HOW theyve been able to do this. The general blueprint of the Constitutional structure is actually pretty sound. Not a perfect system by any means, and I dont know of one that is. But still, the structure of it is good, as long as its in operation. But, thats the key. AS LONG AS IT IS BEING USED!
One of the very first actions of the Cheney Administration was the implementation of what was called a New Paradigm. I wont go into all of the details, since its easy enough to research if you want. But the bottom line is that the sole and top priority goal for Cheney was to institute the doctrine of The Unitary Executive. In short, that the Executive branch would hold the ULTIMITE POWER, and singularly. IOWs, none of this sharing with two other branches of government. The Signing Statements have been a critical tool in accomplishing that, because in effect, these signing statements neutralize the legislative branch.
These are statements that are attached to any legislation that the president signs, which basically say that while he is signing whatever it is into law, he/she is also attaching a caveat of sorts, which basically says that he/she will do whatever they want, in terms of that legislation. Signing statements are not new. Theyve always been a tool that could be utilized by the Executive when they may hold certain reservations about the particular language of any given piece of legislation, even though they might agree with it in the overall premise. Presidents have used them in the past, but sparingly. What Dick Bush has done, is to use them in place of the standard veto power of the president. So, instead of simply vetoing any law that Congress makes, (that he doesnt like) which could be overruled by a 2/3rds majority of the Congress, (the veto that is) he just attaches Signing Statements. And, Dick Bush has issued MORE of them than all previous administrations combined.
Actually, Dick Cheney has issued more of them than all of the previous presidents combined, and they are written primarily by David Addington, (now Cheneys Chief of Staff) with the assistance of what is STILL, (after 8 years) Cheneys very secret staff. Then, Georgie Boy signs them with flourish. In affect, it is Dick Cheney and David Addington, (and others unnamed) that are running the country, and most Americans are unaware of that. There are a few reasons why Americans are unaware of it, but the most obvious is that its intended that way. Its another distinction for the Cheney regime the most diabolically secretive in the history of the nation.
More on the SC robes later.

Notice that all the libs are saying that the conservatives won’t vote for a ticket with Romney, but yet every conservative that’s posted has said that they’d love to vote McCain/Romney. Also, some of the dems are even saying they’d vote McCain/Romney.
The fact is, Mitt Romney is a brilliant businessman, who is respectful, and has a ton of charisma. Mormons aren’t out blowing up buildings and bombing the pentagon, they’re just wearing funny underwear. Your average Christian couldn’t care less if they elect a mormon, if they think he’s a good candidate, and by any measure Mitt is certainly a great choice for V.P.
I’m Christian, and have known several mormons through my life, they were in general extremely generous and kind people. Mitt seems to be exactly what my mormon friends were. I would LOVE to vote for McCain/Romney, that is one heck of a strong ticket. McCain has foriegn policy stripes that literally only a handful of people alive can claim (come on, he was actually a pow for 5.5 years? NOBODY has a story like that), and Romney has an entire string of shrewd business deals, even has a successful olympics under his belt.
With a little finessing, I think they could probably even persuade a large population of the youth vote to go for McCain/Romney once everybody sees what a phony Obama is. He stands for nothing. He can’t talk his way out of his b.s “change” rhetoric, and Mitt Romney is going to have a field day making him look like a chump in interviews and such. Even 71 year old McCain has Obama so shook that he won’t do debates.

Whatever makes some people think that voting in another Republican elite will somehow make this country better for ALL people rather than just the rich. They’ve already said they’ll keep the tax cuts for the rich. We’ve seen how those tax cuts eliminated the middle class over the past 8 years. We’ve seen where their “attack and spend” plan of waging wars and borrowing trillions of dollars has gotten us. Which would you rather have ... more tax on the rich, or have your great grandkids paying for these illegal wars waged on behalf of the Republicans, the oil companies, and all the companies that are getting rich off the war.
You people better wake up ... already, this isn’t the America we knew. Wait till you see what happens if you get another Bush clone in there. You can kiss everything you have goodbye ... your house, your savings, your rights ... and your kids, when they get sent off to McSame’s next war.

Well, while I’m not sure those points are germane to the conversation, I’ll say that I agree with the context of those questions. It is something, however, Americans need to nail to the doors of Congress with political pressure by hounding our representatives.
Really, just try to speak with your reps. Send e-mail, leave messages with their staff. Our representatives will have no spine for our causes if they don’t feel obligated to our powers as citizens.
I believe Obama is willing to listen to Americans, and is willing to destroy these horrible expansions of executive power.

Big B, are you really of the opinion Obama is to the right of Nixon? Obama isn’t a perfect candidate, but the movement is more important than the messenger.
I disagree with the way we treat presidents in America. It’s beyond my comprehension why people want to elect leaders instead of representatives. This is a Democratic-Republic regardless of what cynics might be inclined to say.
The Americans with the ability of understanding and the ambition for knowledge spend too much time wasting their energies trying to make money or making blank observations about our government without ever lifting a finger to change anything.
It’s really easy to be right all the time, it’s quite difficult to do the right thing all the time. Vote for Obama, but don’t expect change unless you get active in your local government and speak with your representatives in Congress. The president is only a piece of the puzzle.

I love the term “liberal moon bat” (do you have t-shirts?)
However, being a “liberal moon bat” I must recommend a vote for the moon bat king, Ralph Nader. But then again i do love throw to throw my vote away.
I just cannot find it within myself to support either Mcsame or Barry. Everything that Mcsame has ever accomplished has been because of his family and wife’s business connections. He has managed, like so many of our second generation politcal and business elite to “Forrest Gump” his way through life (Evan Bayh, anyone?) His only presidential qualifications are that he has passed out in committee meetings on capitol hill for 20 some odd years, and been so pissed off when he woke up that he had his driver take him to the airport so he could get on his wifes private jet (the only plane he hasn’t crashed) and have a high-ball and a blow job from the stewardess.
At least he’s colorful!
Barry, our first black cadidate, is clear in comparison to Mcsame. Am I the only one who passes out when Barry gives a speech in that goddamn condescending monotone that does not make me think of MLK so much as it does Bob Dole. Barry is the perfect mouthpiece for this generation of sell-out clinton dimmo’s. His views are just to the right of Nixon. But how could this surprise anybody? He is, afterall, a lawyer. I would just as soon see him chase my ambulance than be my president.
Once again neither party has given us a candidate that is qualified to scratch his own ass.
I guess I’ll be over here in the corner with the other moon bats, watching the collapse of western civilization, smoking pot, and just tryin’ to forget, man!

Barack sits on the foreign relations board in the Senate, he has eight years experience doing making real legislative progress in Illinois, he’s worked on campaign finance reform as well. The man is a brilliant Constitutional scholar, and will keep a just and firm hand in the executive office.
John McCain is belligerent and unpredictable. That’s not change we can believe in.
