McCain Fundraiser Under Scrutiny for Ralph Reed Connection

John McCain managed to pull in over $1.75 million for the GOP during an Atlanta fundraiser on Monday, but the event also attracted attention for its potential ties to erstwhile Christian Coalition leader Ralph Reed. Barack Obama’s camp, among others, is raising questions about Reed’s connection to the event.

AP via Google News:

The downtown event was promoted by Ralph Reed, a former head of the Christian Coalition. McCain’s campaign said the event was organized by the Republican National Committee—not Reed, who was linked to the Abramoff scandal that McCain investigated in the Senate.

McCain didn’t raise the issue during his 22-minute appearance. Instead, he thanked donors to the Republicans’ umbrella campaign fund.

“Everybody in this room could be someplace else,” the Arizona senator told the crowd of several hundred. “Everybody in this room could be donating to some other cause or to their own well-being. But I want to thank you.”

Reed was not seen inside the hotel ballroom; a McCain campaign spokeswoman said he did not attend. But Democrat Barack Obama’s rival presidential campaign sought to make him an issue, asking how much Reed-linked money was raised or would be kept.

“Faced with the embarrassing prospect of holding a fundraiser with one of Jack Abramoff’s closest associates, the McCain campaign scrambled today to scratch Ralph Reed from tonight’s program, but voters deserve to know the answers to the real questions raised by Reed’s involvement,” Obama campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor said.

The forged Habbush letter story is gaining legs.  Susskind and the dems think it was written by the CIA (under orders), the American Conservative thinks it was Doug Feith and some of his transplanted underlings at DOD, either way, this is the strongest evidence so far for an indictment of Bush/Cheney for treason.  The forgery stated that Saddam has WMD and that Atta met with Iraqi intelligence, both lies, but supposedly authored by the Iraqi intel chief, who actually was talking to the Brits (saying there was no WMD .) $ 5 million US cash got his cooperation and his disappearance into Amman, Jordan.

And to think we impeached Bill for bj’s in the WH!!

Traditionally, candidates seem to have two ways to travel during an election: the high road and the low road.  Obviously this is oversimplified drivel but it is true that a candidate and his campaign team will choose the general direction of their strategy.  It is becoming very transparent that McCain has chosen neither but has opted for some subterranean, miasmic nether world where he can spew out his calumnies about Obama.

There are several underlying themes to these egregious, craven attacks.  One of these themes originated in a transgressive, patently outrageous book written by Jerome Corsi of swift boat notoriety titled The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality.  Setting the tone for the campaign, Corsi defines Obama as a dangerous radical liberal who is subversively trying to ingratiate himself with the voters in order to win the election so that he can implement his real and nefarious agenda.  This claim is unadulterated, inane, and pernicious nonsense.  Progressive democrats are imploring Obama to return to the progressive policies that he espoused during the primaries.  As well, I am a Canadian where the so-called ruling party, the Liberals, are far more left than Obama in that they created a single-payer, government-run healthcare system and believe in subsidized housing and daycare.  The only people to whom these policies are a danger are corporations and the wealthy that might have to pay their fair share of taxes.  We even have a party further to the left of the liberals, the New Democratic Party, who has governed in four provinces none of whom went neither bankrupt nor organized collectives.

The second major theme for attacking Obama is his lack of courage and leadership qualities which are needed to protect the security of the United States.  It’s the swift boat attacks all over again which were partly responsible for sinking John Kerry.  While McCain thumps his chest with knuckles that drag on the ground over the Russian attacks on Georgia, even Bush becomes overshadowed by the deafening roar emanating from McCain’s lips.  McCain is hoping that the public will swallow these blatantly meretricious images.  Examining Obama’s record, he has supported all the funding bills for the Iraq occupation in the Senate, has taken a tough stand on Pakistan and Iran, and has proposed sending more troops to Afghanistan.  Obviously to weak as far as McCain is concerned.

Unfortunately, these kinds of attacks, exploiting people’s fears, frequently resonate with voters.  It is important that the Obama campaign actively and aggressively prove these malicious attacks are pure bull****.

Ralph Reed, the former head of the Christian Coalition, placed in that position by none other than Pat Robertson, a “bestest” buddy of the Republican fundraiser and under indictment Jack Abramoff, raising money for the presumptive Republican candidate for president Sen. John McCain.  How tangled a web is this?  Is Sen. McCain, now in the pocket of those who are the Far Right Wing of the GOP?  I would believe that now.
John McCain, courting the Christian Fundamentalist Wing of the GOP, how obscene is this?
Has the maverick, gone soft, and caved in to the need for those who are the Neo-Conservative whackos of the GOP?
G-d help us if this man is elected. For we know the policies that will be in place the day he is sworn in as President. Bush-lite!  Another 4 years of the same failed policies that have driven this country to the brink of a long and drawn out “depression,” not in just the minds of the people, but a real monetary crisis, that will engulf the whole world.
Should John McCain be elected than as sure as shit goes through a goose, we will be at war with Iran, sooner than later, and we as a country will be further alienated from the rest of the world, by dint of the fact that John McCain, will carry on the policy of preemptive war without provocation.
I am appalled that Ralph Reed was even considered as a fundraiser for the GOP, it looks like they have not listened to the people and instead have gone ahead and used as their motivation, MONEY.  Not caring one whit about the people of this country who are even now being affected by the credit crunch and loss of employment that will eventually bring this country to a standstill economically and fiscally.
Let us make sure that there is, elected a person who at least appears to care about the people and sounds like he wants to work for the greater good instead of lining his own pockets.

Maybe he should have thought to ask for some money for himself this past weekend while he was trying to suck off christian dominion wackos for votes.
Any minute now I expect to see Barry reach behind his head and pull off his mask, and reveal that he has been Dukakis all along.
