Hillary to Have Roll-Call Vote at Convention

After protracted negotiations, Barack Obama has agreed to Hillary Clinton’s name being placed in nomination at the Democratic convention. A joint statement from the Obama and Clinton camps claims it was Obama’s idea to use the symbolic vote “as a show of unity and in recognition of the historic race she ran and the fact that she was the first woman to compete in all of our nation’s primary contests.” Ain’t that special.

CNN:

The source added the Obama campaign “always knew it would probably have to happen.” “They have known since the day she dropped out that she wanted this ‘for history,’ ” the operative said.

Clinton would not be the first woman to have her name placed in nomination for president at a major party convention. U.S. Sen. Margaret Chase Smith of Maine was placed in nomination at the 1964 Republican convention, and U.S. Rep. Shirley Chisholm of New York was placed in nomination at the 1972 Democratic convention.

Dihey,

Re-read your own words here:

• “I witnessed ugly “bulldozing” by an official of the Obama campaign at our Texas evening-primary who lied publicly about the rules to get older folks-presumably Clinton voters- to go home before the actual voting took place. He was from Illinois! What the hell was he doing at a Texas primary?”

First, we’ll just take at face value that you ‘knew’ this person who told these lies to be an ‘official of the Obama Campaign”. (Maybe he had some sign or other identification of such). If in fact he was an Official of the Obama campaign, THAT would be the reason he was there. Does that not make sense to you?

Now something that probably will NOT make sense to you, (being in Texas and all) is that there should even be any CONFUSION about the ‘rules’. But that is the standard election environment, in TEXAS!
I lived in that 3rd world state for 17 years dihey, and the SAME ‘bulldozing’ occurred at every election, and was always done by those from the right.

But in other civilized states dihey, this doesn’t occur. The ‘rules’ are clearly determined well in advance, and an informed population knows when and where they are to cast their votes.

folks: consider the fact that the “global warming” is a real & true fact; I read about it in 7th grade & it was not new then; I am 29 twice; so I am thinking 62 or 63; the #1 problem was “car emmissions; the 1st cars did NOT run on oil; alternatives have ALWAYS been availabe & DENIED being used by our Gov; they REFUSED to upgrade to more MPG even when Europe had 50MPG average; “LYING to say “we don’t have the technology”; NO COUNTRY has done more harm to its citizens, the environment, than THIS gov has; It is TIME to get the whole kit & kabootle OUT of office; EVERY SINGLE one of them, including Govs’ have LIED; bees are disappearing, bats are going, PEOPLE are being agressively POISONED at every level for “$ from doctors & Pharma’s; If we want a CHANGE we the people are going to have to do something MORE than “elect” a new President; all these folks want is money & power; WE NEED CITIZENS who are FOR THE PEOPLE, not the power; Kukenich is the ONLY one for impeachment which SHOULD have been done long ago;

The attacks on Hillary Clinton are not the primary reason why the Democratic Party is split. The main reason is the cheap insults directed at Hillary-voters by some Obama supporters of which the most insidious are that we are all “closet haters of blacks” or “politics as usual old-fogies”. The truth is that Clinton voters are a much more diverse and interesting bunch and are often far more progressive than Hillary or even Obama.
Cyrena: With regards to “bulldozing”. I witnessed ugly “bulldozing” by an official of the Obama campaign at our Texas evening-primary who lied publicly about the rules to get older folks-presumably Clinton voters- to go home before the actual voting took place. He was from Illinois! What the hell was he doing at a Texas primary? I changed my morning vote for Obama to an evening vote for Hillary in protest. It’s about the voters, stupids! You insult us, we fight back. Your insults may lose the election for Obama, not the Clinton’s obvious and equally ugly shenanigans.

I thnk this is BS and Hillary is trying to take the nomination from Obama, and if she is successful I won’t be voting for her, even if it means 4 years of McCain.  She is doing this because if she should win, she figures everyone will fall in line and vote for her.  Not this time, she’ll never get my vote. If Hillary is the nominee Hello President McCain.

Obama is wise to devote so much time to the Clintons at the convention. Worst case scenario is some viewers are confused into thinking they’d really be voting to put the Clintons back in the White House after all.

Obama needs that. His poll numbers vs McCain, within a MoE, are as crappy now as they were in the last few months of the primaries while Clinton consistantly polled higher vs McCain.

We were assured by the Obots then that Obama’s numbers vs McCain would surely improve once he didn’t have to waste his time competing against Clinton.

uh...nope. Except for the temporary bounce he got when Clinton initially endorsed him, it didn’t happen. The more he is seen with Hillary, introducing Hillary, being praised by Hillary or mentioning Bill as much as he’s mentioned Reagan in this contest, the better for him and the Democratic Party.

btw, does anyone honestly think Maureen Dowd has EVER wanted a Democrat...any Democrat...to win the White House?

So what is this really about?  Is this about the Clntons being so darn mad and dissapointed that they just didn’t get a chance to serve us, to serve their country?  It’s not like they didn’[t have their shot.  And it’s not like they are deprived of that opportunity to serve their country, if that’s what they are concerned about.

Of course, this sn’t about Hillary.  this s about her supporters, those women who all their lives have been treated worse than...well, worse than even black people.  Sure, they’ve gone to college, serve as CEOs, supreme court justices, senators…

but goldarnit, they still can’t claim a presidency. How sexist!  Why would we even want Obama to be president?  If he wins, once more there’ll be no black senator in congress.  Just a bunch of women.

After more than a year of campaigning against them, Obama still doesn’t know the Clntons.  Give them an inch and they’ll take 10 million miles.  They’re going to get back into the White House one way or another.

To think about it some more, it sure is a classic way of someone with some money advertizing themself as an ‘elite’ by running for the hightest office in the land which also says only ‘elites’ or ‘elite’ boot lickers may run for this office.
I doubt very much that hillary came out on the short in of the money stick. She may have to go out of the country to access her offshore accounts but hey, that’s just taking a well earned vacation.

Hillary blew $100m in the 1st month of Jan 08; living high on the hog, ordering $10,000 & higher trays of food for her & friends; while of course our military vets live in gross disgusting barracks & there is no $ allocated to vets for medicines & the country “supposedly” is so broke; reminded me of Marie Antoinette who lost her head when she said “let them eat cake” when there was no food for the people; of course not: the people were grossly overtaxed & the “food” being held back to get higher prices; probably the “gas” was being pre priced set like is now as well (wink) cuz how else would the USA car manufacterers KNOW to give $2.99 a gallon GUARENTEED for 36 months unless it was; NO ONE is buying the CRAP that she or her husband are anything other than crooks;

Hillary needs to let it go.

No one is going to pay her campaign bills for this fecklessly run fiasco of a run for the Presidency. And, history is not going to conveniently forget that other women ran before her to the same end. Whenever Amerika does finally wise up to realize women can be run Amerika just as fecklessly as white men did for 43 administrations, no one is going to recall Hillary in more than passing.

Hillary needs to focus on beating back the Albany political machine aiming to run a viable Democratic competitor against her in 2010. Mark Penn and Harold Ickes ruined the Clinton brand with their ridiculous campaign antics. Hillary is not a New York native. 2010 comes before 2012. If she loses her Senate seat, she’ll be joining the K Street lobbyist circuit, finished polically.

Big surprise after she ran that Neo con laden campaign. Heckva Job Hilly!
funny all her 18 million supporters can’t cough up a $1.25 each to get her out of debt- but they MUST have their voice.
Where were all these ‘Feminist’ when Mosley Braun Ran in ‘04?? Where was all the ‘Historical’ rhetoric? Where was the outrage and toss’ of the ‘Sexism Card ‘ for Her...This is Not the Womens movement supporting Hillary -this is the ‘A White womans better than a Black man’ racists.
Any woman who has been a Libber from their early age Knows this has nothing to do with Equality- which is what the Womens movement is all about- Equal Rights For ALL minorities. We have always known our cause is intimately intertwined with all others who have faced adversity. We are Women of All colors, but we are Humans first..and that is what we have been struggling to prove. We no more what someone to give us a break just because we have a vagina as much as we don’t want them to disregard us because of it- We want a level playing field to prove our abilities and by kneecapping another for such irrelevant external traits we are only devaluing ourSelves!
the Clintons have proved they are nothing more than operatives for the Neo cons working the other side of the street. Hillary Misused the womens Movement so brazenly -she should be repudiated and revealed as such. Her use of the womens movement is as disgusting as Hagee’s use of the Faithful- neither have any allegience to the doctrine - but use them for their own gains.
Hillary has revealed herself not only by using Neo Con tactics, she has handed them back to Mac’s Handlers with her stamp of approval. Hillary sent her surrogates out to split Gender from Race in the deck For Equal rights- THEY were able to throw the race card, because the gender card was claimed to trump it ....BS!
Equal Rights is Gender,Color, ethnically, sexual orientation and Religiously Blind!
She has proven herself a disgrace to women, the Dem Party and this Country and what WE all stand for.
My sincerest apologies to all those I debated with through out the ‘90’s- having fallen for the clintons SCAM!My eye are Wide open Now!

And this is exactly why it’s NOT about ‘history’ or her being a woman. We could line up a few dozen WOMEN to show more than some ‘symbolism’ about the gains that women have made, and LEGITIMATELY!

History my ass. This is about us being bulldozed the same way we’ve been for 40 years now.
