Anthrax Evidence ReleasedPosted on Aug 6, 2008The government on Wednesday released some of the evidence collected against biological weapons researcher Bruce E. Ivins, who died of suicide July 29. Anonymous sources peppered media reports earlier in the week, saying that much of the case relied on circumstantial evidence. So far, those reports appear to have been correct.

felicity,
David Kelly was a microbiologist on the WMD team that went to Iraq, following the Gulf war.
In 2002, while preparing for the 2003 invasion of Iraq, the British government commissioned the Joint Intelligence Committee to produce a dossier on Iraq’s alleged WMD. Kelly was working for the Defence Intelligence Staff at the time.
Experienced with weapons inspections in Iraq, he was asked to proof-read sections of the draft. He disagreed with claims that Iraq could fire battlefield biological and chemical weapons within 45 minutes of an order to use them “the 45 minute claim”.
This claim, was further amplified by Colin Powell in his infamous presentation at the UN.
May 29, 2003, BBC journalist Andrew Gilligan, broadcast a report stating “the 45-minute claim,” even though known to be dubious was placed in the dossier by the government. The government denied involvement.
In a subsequent article, Gilligan identified Alastair Campbell, communications director for Prime Minister Tony Blair, as the person responsible for the faulty intelligence. The government demanded BBC reveal the name of the source outing Campbell, knowing any source not a member of the Joint Intelligence Committee would not be credible.
Kelly, as part of a third inspection team, was in Iraq from June 5 to June 11, 2003. He examined the two alleged mobile weapons laboratories.
Off the record, Kelly said, “They are not mobile germ warfare laboratories. You could not use them for making biological weapons. They do not even look like them. They are exactly what the Iraqis said they were - facilities for the production of hydrogen gas to fill balloons.” Which, The Observer reported on June 15, 2003.
Later Kelly was confirmed as the source of this quote. Making him a target for Bush and Blair.
Defense Intelligence leaked who might be the source of the dossier leak. And journalists guessed Kelly’s identity. The Ministry of Defense, contrary to the usual “no comment,” confirmed Kelly’s name.
Some believe the Ministry of Defense was acting on a government decision to reveal Kelly’s name as part of a strategy to discredit Gilligan. Which meant discrediting Kelly first.
July 9, 2003 Kelly’s name was confirmed as the BBC source. Nick Rufford, Sunday Times journalist, went to Kelly’s house the same day and warned him he would be publicly named that night.
Kelly was called as a witness before a committee of the House of Commons, investigating the war in Iraq. Kelly had been warned by the Ministry of Defense about meeting with a journalist, and knew he could face serious consequences when he testified.
On July 17, 2003 Kelly went missing following a walk into the woods near his home. He was later found dead.
The coroner ruled he died from a self inflicted arterial cut, causing him to bleed to death, and he had ingested co-proxamol.
They failed to explain how a man who bled to death could leave no blood at the scene. That coupled with the later admission that Kelly’s fingerprints were NOT on the knife that made the cut led to the inevitable belief that Kelly was murdered by suicide.
What Kelly knew beyond what we know, remains a mystery. And if what he knew was threatening enough to silence him, also remains a mystery.
When Blair was asked by the press about Kelly’s death, it appeared that prior to the question, he didn’t know kelly was dead. His face literally went grey.
Perhaps Kelly’s death was the horses head on Tony’s bed.
Note: Like Ivin’s, following Kelly’s death a smear campaign trying to make him look like an anti-government nutcase was launched.
We know now, Kelly was telling the truth. Which leads me to wonder. Was Ivin’s actually a whistleblower, and somehow what he released, or was about to release was buried before it became public?

dismissed the Emminent threat warning in Aug 2001,
Haven’t found Binny or defeated AQ & sympathizers in Afghanistan.
Dismissed contrary Intell about Iraq, or just failed to research the major National Security issue entirely.
Had no problem with Bush,Cheney or McCain immediately blaming Iraq (No connection to 9/11, determined NOT to be the place of orignation)-Causing not only international resentment, but adding to further worries after 9/11, another enemy laying in wait??
Sending too few troops with crap and insuffient equipment, no clear mission, no exit stratedgy, defective and dangerous sub contrator services & equip, signing up ‘minors’ and threatening them,failing to provide adquate and safe medical treament after service…
the Only WAY This ‘Gov’t’ can catch anyone is if they turn up dead, therefore not able to defend onesself. the Trial should be held - this man deserves a right to defend/save his name, if not himself.He should be judged by a jury of his peers.His family at least should be able to represent His interests, see his day in court.
Anything short of this only makes this Story Reek of Cover up even more.

“Who was the Brit who was supposedly under investigation or something like that….”
Dr David Kelly, nuclear research scientist and biological warfare weapons expert.
It pretty much seems to be a similar case.
Report thisOne afternoon, after the inquest into Dr Kelly’s death, I watched on TV Lord Hutton read his report and the first thing that sprang to mind was the “suicide” of Erwin Rommel in 1944.

[Oh boy, we’re all in trouble now!]

“dizzy and get this unidentifiable ‘metallic’ taste in my mouth. (I’m not trying to be funny, (redacted name). It actually scares me a bit.)”
[Mercury poisoning?]
“Even with the Celexa and the counseling, the depression episodes still come and go. That’s unpleasant enough. What is REALLY scary is the paranoia.”
“It’s hard enough sometimes controlling my behavior. When I’m being eaten alive inside, I get incredibly paranoid, delusional thoughts at times, and there’s nothing I can do until they go away.”
~~~
Folks, these could be symptoms of Heavy Metal Toxicity.
Or symptoms of a man who’s loosing a lot of sleep. Having been targeted, he’s feeling persecuted and like maybe he cant win, so what’s the use? That’s when the anger and the fear and the hopelessness all mix together to drive someone who’s been targeted nuts! Ask anyone who’s been the victim of a stalker!
Ask the Army Chaplain who had e-mails and porn planted on his computer by the “investigators” when they finally had to accept the guy was innocent. It’s like they’re saying, OK the guy didn’t do it, but that doesn’t mean we cant ruin his life. Or ask Hatfield.
“I am incredibly sad and angry at what happened, now that it has sunk in. Sad for all of the victims, their families, their friends. And angry. Very angry. Angry at those who did this, who support them, who coddle them, and who excuse them.”
What the ....? That’s bad? I find that familiar. Sounds a lot like what a lot of us were saying and feeling, and still do.
OK, this one reaches the top of the Bullshit meter! Someone quotes one of the alleged bin-Laden threats and that’s enough to prove he did the deed? Because there were similar words in the notes? This whole absurdity proves when it comes to the Justice Department, the greatest crime any one of us can commit is to express our thoughts. Verbally protest at anything we think is wrong. Criticize mainstreammedia, or repeat any of the alleged words of any alleged terrorist.
In other words, free speech is a no-no. This Justice Department after all, is governed by the conservative right.
Let the craziest among us determine who’s crazy.
And the rhyme could be expressing the feeling that sets in everytime one tries to make sense out of the nonsensical that swirls around us. AKA a government that sits [on] and governs us. Leading one to either challenge the sanity of our leaders, or question our own.
Or perhaps a side-effect of the anti-depressant Celexa.
Looking in the mirror. Those who lie and steal and cheat and kill scream, TERROR!
But the innocent seeking shelter from a harsh reality will find a measure of comfort in focus on self, looking for a companion who doesn’t condemn. Is that nuts? Does that a killer make?
So far Bush has been very successful at his persecutions. Ooops, I mean prosecutions. [Freudian slip] Dead men tell no tails, and always turn out to be guilty. Wow how lucky is that?
Bush and his professionals are very good at trying to shut us up, shut us down and make us question our own sanity. Not to mention scare the shit out of us.
Apparently they were successful with Ivin’s. Or were they? I still think he was “suicided.”
By the way, where IS the circumstantial evidence?
Oh, I forgot. They don’t need any evidence, circumstantial or otherwise. The guy cant defend himself. The guy cant go on trial, or even be charged. The guy is dead.
The FBI wont have another frame-up collapse, or be found spinning their wheels, again.
Case closed.
I think she exists, but she sounds like a complete ditz. She just got a restraining order against him recently on the grounds he had “tried to murder several people” going back to the year 2000? And this guy who is handling anthrax goes on in his job for 8 more years until he conveniently commits suicide just as the FBI is “closing in”? If you believe this, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you.
If you turn to last night’s Countdown segment featuring investigative journalist Gerald Posner, you will find, first, the governments effort to present its case, claiming that they traced the anthrax to a single flask that supposedly originated with Dr. Ivins and then Gerald Posner tearing this apart, noting that even assuming that the government had, indeed, traced it to that one flask (exceedingly debatable) the anthrax in that flask was in liquid form. This does not begin to explain how Ivins would have been able to transform that liquid anthrax into the sophisticated weapons grade powder found on the envelopes.
The government claimed that Ivins had a device in his possession that could have been used for that purpose. Posner spoke with six different microbiologists working in this field, and they all told him it would have been virtually impossible for Ivins to have converted the liquid anthrax into the weapons grade powder with that device.
We have seen this before. A fatally flawed Warren Commission which had been spoon fed disinformation about Lee Harvey Oswald supposedly visiting the Soviet Embassy in Mexico City—exposed as a CIA-concocted fabrication by Mark Lane in “Plausible Denial, and, of course, the “pristine bullet” that supposedly passed thru Governor Connelly’s shoulder and Pres. Kenedy’s scull without so much as a scratch;” a 9/11 Commission which was refused access to extensive documentation; limited to interviewing Bush only in the presence of Cheney without the presence of a court reporter or even the right to take notes; fed snippets of information that was obtained by torture, and forced to right a report which does not touch upon, let alone explain why WTC-7, which was not struck by a plane, collapsed into its own footprint in the span of 8.7 seconds.
Oh well, if officials say that Ivins did it and the case is closed, it must be true. “Oceania is at war with Eurasia. Oceania has always been at war with Eurasia.” George Orwell, “1984.”
Dr. Nass is considered one of the world’s foremost experts on Anthrax, and worked alongside Dr. Ivins. She has continued to express deep doubts about the FBI case against him- and has offered a first pass of insightful comments about the FBI’s “evidence”:
This is evidence??????????????????????? Some introspective poetry, and what sounds to me like normal indignation at the 9-11 disaster? They must be kidding! The only actual evidence they have is the DNA traced to his flask of anthrax, but Gerald Posner says he has talked to many microbiologists and they are unanimous that to go from such an anthrax culture to the kind of highly sophisticated, weapons grade powder that was in those envelopes is technically difficult and beyond the capabilities of one scientist working alone. Ivins sounds like a total patsy to me, conveniently suicided just before the “solution” was announced.
