Iraqi security officers watch a group of Shiite pilgrims taking part in a Baghdad religious procession on Monday. Suicide bombers targeted Shiites elsewhere in the city.

Multiple suicide bombings in Baghdad and Kirkuk in the north killed more than 50 Iraqis on Monday. The bombers in the capital targeted Shiite pilgrims. More than 200 were wounded in the two cities. News of the attacks came on the heels of a spate of bombings around the world.

BBC:

Suicide bombers have killed at least 53 people and wounded about 240 in attacks on crowds in the Iraqi capital Baghdad and the northern city of Kirkuk.

Three blasts in Baghdad killed at least 28 Shia Muslim pilgrims heading for the city’s Kadhimiya shrine.

The attacks, which wounded about 90 people, were carried out by women suicide bombers, police said.

Rus7355,

The thing that’s interesting about living in a world governed by an alternative reality is how easily, and quickly well intended people, with very short memories, can be led to believe something contrary to the reality they experienced just a few short years before.

Over time people begin to doubt their own sanity because they begin to doubt their own memory. That is the goal. Convince all the regular folks that all the bad things they “thought” they lived through and experienced really didn’t happen. That they really should feel OK about supporting the few “chosen” so the chosen can continue stealing from them.

And of course, while the income is reduced, the security is impacted, which eventually destroys the support system, turning the desperate into willing victims dependent on crumbs from the “chosen” for survival.

[And people marvel how quickly “conservative” principles and leadership could have embraced torture.]

Amazing what evil and greed can accomplish isn’t it?

Re-write history? No problem.
Alter reality? That’s easy too!

So you hold fast to your version, because that will make it much easier to continue supporting evil and greed. Perhaps your loyalty brings you financial reward. Perhaps not. But people suffering, even those who steadfastly refuse to accept their “leaders” could lie to them, or use them, or even hurt them, eventually will do one of two things. Turn on the “masters” that abuse them, or leave ... one way or another.

It has always been so.

Evil and greed control and eventually destroy. By their own hand, or as a result of the abuse and horror they heap on others.

Like you say ... context.

Yours is shaped by a determined loyalty to those who currently are running us into the ground. Mine is shaped by the reality I’ve lived through. I could provide you with many sources for my comments. But I wont bother, because, you have made your bed, and I doubt you’ll let anyone rumple it. And obviously you aren’t hurting ... yet.

But the possibility still exists your bed could be turned upside down. Not by me, but by the very forces you so clearly support.

Good luck sir, you may need it.

So much for the so-called “surge” that’s working, as the latest propaganda line for the warmongers and the merchants of death!

Not only we have the McCain evil camp taunting this latest lie, but we have the other naive would be Commander-in-Chief Obama going along with this latest lie to create the background for a new ferocious war against Afghanistan and possibly Pakistan and Iran. All this is in the service of the so-called “Chosen People” of the State of Israel in alliance with the military-industrial complex.

So, the evil propaganda continues as to how savage, backward and dangerous the Taliban are, as a necessary prelude to prepare the ground for the next big war in the region in the name of freedom, democracy and human rights! And the American God of Salvation, has already designated either McCain or Obama to be the “great” leader of this new 21st-century Crusade!!!

Three female suicide bombers killed 25 Shia pilgrims in Baghdad while another 27 were killed in an attack in the northern city of Kirkuk, marking one of Iraq’s bloodiest days. The attacks were carried out by women suicide bombers. Stopping women suicide bombers who move among crowds on foot is very difficult indeed. Mr. John McCain, was the “Mission Accomplished”, and the surge as you and the current occupant of the White House are claiming to be working to your satisfaction? How long the American forces will be stationed in Iraq? Please let the American public know at the earliest.

Rus7355:
“We need to keep the proper context when discussing these issues.”

~~~
It also helps to tell the truth. wink
The “Mission Accomplished” banner was created by a PR firm at the request of the White House, with the specific intension of giving Bush a showy photo op backdrop. It had absolutely nothing to do with the men and women on the boat. Was created by the Bush people, for the Bush people and lifted into place by the Bush people. Only later, when the chaos in Iraq overtook any semblance of a real goal in Iraq, did the White House concoct the BS you just repeated as fact, and try to blame the military!
Besides, if Bush gave a flying, flippin’ fin about the troops, he never would have deliberately sent then into harms way under a collection of fantasy and fabrication, just so he could be a “war president” and adopt the excuses he claims as justifying his abuse of power, abuse of the Constitution and abuse of we the people. And, the troops wouldn’t be on their fourth and fifth deployments, would they.
Saddam Hussein was a very nasty man, no doubt about that. Which is probably why he was selected, by us, to be dictator of Iraq. However to say he was the biggest threat to the safety of the world is just plain dumb. And a reflection of ignorance of so many real dangers in the world. Proof of that is simple. The world is far less safe today than it was when Saddam was dictating under the handicap of sanctions. In case you hadn’t noticed, [and you probably hadn’t] his nuclear reactor was bombed into oblivion by Israel, back in 1981. And that IS a fact.
And subsequent searches by the UN uncovered NO new ones and whatever was left lying about. And just in case you hadn’t figured this out ... the reason Bush started his war before the subsequent UN mission in Iraq [that HE demanded] was completed, was because a conclusion would have revealed there were no more serious threats from an armed Saddam. Bush could not allow the risk of that reality coming out before he had a chance to start his war.
And bin-Laden hated Saddam, because Saddam turned Iraq into a Sectarian State. Saddam, al-Qaeda, bin-Laden ... no connection whatsoever, except in the minds of those who create, perpetuate and believe lies and propaganda.
If al-Qaeda has been squelched in Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE, it’s largely because prior to Bush’s foolish attack on Iraq, al-Qaeda was little more than a computer tag in those nations. [And probably still is] Al-Qaeda in Iraq was as bogus as Nuclear Weapons in Iraq. Proof of that is found in examining the various photos of the alleged al-Qaeda leader in Iraq prior to and after his death. So many faces, so many histories, so many ways to lie. One more PR fantasy created for a better reflection of the Bush and the incompetence and dishonesty that is his GWOT.
And yes, the new [a misnomer] tactics (surge) in Iraq are working very well if the ONLY goal is to keep war going. And my dear sir, that IS the only goal. Even the kids in grade school have that one figured out. But then they don’t have holdings in corporations that see big dividends from war profiteering.
Incidents such as these provoke little notice in the U.S.  After all, isn’t the “surge” working beautifully?  John McCain says so.  To the extent that the “surge” is successful, little notice is given to the details about why it is succeeding.  Aside from the additional troops, there was another change in strategy the Bush Administration avoids mentioning: that the fighting has largely shifted from ground troops to the air force.  Whole neighborhoods are blasted to shreds in indiscriminate bombings.  Most of the victims are innocent civilians - “collateral damage.”  But it is this very collateral destruction that is suppressing the insurgency.  The strategy is not unlike that of WWII, when our brave leaders decided that terror was the best weapon.  After 200,000 German civilians were killed by allied bombing, the outcome of the war was pretty much a foregone conclusion.  We are using that same strategy in Iraq and it seems to be working insofar as American casualties are concerned.  But should we be proud of it?
It would seem that “the surge is working” simply means that fewer American military personnel are being killed.  (Of course if they weren’t there in the first place, none would be killed.)
According to FOX News, the surge is over, so I guess we can expect a return to escalating violence. I mean isn’t that what happened right after Bush declared victory?
You remember. Bush walking across the deck looking more like the first chimp in space than the Commander in Chief. You remember, the jet making that harrowing journey from the shore to the boat a few hundred yards out to sea. You remember, the banner that nobody wants to take credit for now, but Bush proudly stood under then. You remember. One of the first examples we were given of gross incompetence that we should have learned from but didn’t.
Victory. Followed shortly by bloody mayhem.
Maybe FOX should take credit for the increase in violence this article reports. Never should have said the surge is over ... duh.
~~~

“Military Surge in Iraq Ends; 150,000 Troops Remain”
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,383445,00.html

“When the military buildup began, there were between 132,000 and 135,000 troops in Iraq. Over time, however, the Pentagon poured troops into Baghdad and the belt of communities that surround it, including the volatile areas of Basra and Sadr City.”
“With more troops, the military needed more support, including military police to guard detainees and National Guard units to provide security for bases, convoys and other operations.”

“Earlier this year, military leaders acknowledged that the force in Iraq when the buildup ended would be larger than before it began. And they suggested that the post-buildup force would total about 142,000.”

~~~
So there you have it folks. The surge was a word to help us look away while they increased forces to address the mess they created. An increase in bodies on the ground does not a surge make. Nor does a word, like successful, or victory, or even winning make it so ... just because it’s said. Problem is, when you start a war for bogus reasons, you simply can not win. A bogus goal can never be reached, because it’s ... well, bogus!
Oh the lovely world of repub/conservative/political money. Money has no brain, no personality. Money can not save us from stupidity. Money does not walk and talk, and fight wars. But just as long as there is one single nincompoop who sees a profit on the horizon, there will be war and violence, death and destruction, all for money.
[How do these people sleep at night?]
Besides there’s all those neat new weapons that haven’t been tested yet. Money, or at least the fools who think they control it, is/are not about to give up bloody mayhem until they’ve ... it’s ... had a chance to try out everything. And since new weapons are being developed just as fast as weird minds can think them up, this war we started will not likely end ... ever.
[And nobody knows that better than McCain! How many times as he told us so?]
Certainly it will never be won. Victory and Successful are words that have become code for ramp up the chaos. If we want the chaos to stop, we need to start saying things like:
-True victory in Iraq will come only when Iraq works out the kinks WE created. And does it THEIR way. As long as we are visible, we are a reminder of the mess they find themselves in, so let’s go home.-
Bush can hire some authors and artists to create a version of “his” victory for future generations. But right now in the reality of where we are, it’s time to pack it in.
To perpetuate more violence against innocent Iraqi’s and More Profits for the Corps.
Everytime McCain says “Conditions on the Ground”, I not only know Our presence is making it worse,but see OURS slipping further down the Drain.
Thanks to crimianls like Mac’s ‘economic’ advisor Phil Gramm- our economy is in the shitter, we are losing our Jobs and our Homes, our cities and infrastructures are falling apart, our gases prices are soaring along with Oil Corp profits, Our food pries are skyrocketing while quality and safety are literally killing US, We are being pushed farther in to debt to foreign countries and investors…These are the ‘Conditions on the Ground’ American Voters are watching.
So Mac can talk all he wants about the ‘Surge’ , We are Watching the PURGE!
It appears that not only the Iraqi’s need to Reclaim their Own Country- So do WE!By liberating the Iraqi’s of the Occupying Corporations, we will also help Ourselves End their Occupation Here!
Hmmm, so the “surge” is working? Not working? More ridiculous propaganda from Amerika’s military/ruling class? A vast “nut-wing conspiracy” to paint John McPain as a feeble sadly mistaken partisan hack? Another “reason” to pull out of Iraq and send the “troops” to Afghanistan?
Wait a minute, Iraq NEVER had those pesky WMD’s or nukes or whatever so, why is Amerika still there? Oh right, so McPain and Oblah-ma will have something to argue about. How many of Amerika’s service boys and girls are dead now? Oh wait a minute, the service boys and girls DON’T MATTER! Grist for the war mill.
