Barack Obama waves to the crowd during his speech at Berlin’s Victory Column.

At first it looked as if Barack Obama’s world tour, despite all the media attention, wasn’t going to translate into more votes. The senator himself warned that he could actually lose points for globetrotting. The latest Gallup poll, however, shows a trend in Obama’s favor. The candidate held a lead of nine points on Sunday.

Update: While Obama holds a significant lead in Gallup’s daily tracking poll, the Democrat trails his rival by four points among likely voters in a new USA Today-Gallup poll conducted over the weekend.

Gallup Poll:

Barack Obama now leads John McCain among national registered voters by a 49% to 40% margin in Gallup Poll Daily tracking conducted July 24-26.

This represents a continuation of Obama’s front-runner position evident in the last three Gallup Poll Daily tracking updates. The margin, coincident with the extensive U.S. news coverage of Obama’s foreign tour, is the largest for Obama over McCain measured since Gallup began tracking the general election horserace in March.

Articles already coming out about the crowds that Obama supposedly drew while in Germany.

There saying that a rock band and popular reggie artist along with free drinks and hot dogs (bratwurst) was on-stage and offered before Obama spoke.

Questions on what really brought the crowds.
Obama or the rock concert and free food and drink?

Safe to conclude that maybe they complemented each other?

If you haven’t figured out by now that most Americans are dazed and confused, I am surprised. How else can you explain what WE, as a country, have tolerated for the past 7 1/2 years?! If you want McSAME, have at it! You will have a new McWAR in ‘09, unless BUSH II beats him to it in order to remain pResident!

It gives one a hopeless feeling about American voters.  You could parade a chimpanzee around in front of the cameras and he could get 40% in the polls.  All you need is a cheering crowd.”

It is a great joy to note that Barack Obama has taken a commanding lead of 9 points in the latest Gallup Poll. At first it appeared as if Senator Barack Obama’s Middle - East and European tour wasn’t going to translate into more votes. The latest Gallup poll, however, shows a trend in Obama’s favor which is indeed very gratifying. Obama is an outstanding 46 year old who will be making history as the first African American ever to be elected to the highest office. I shall compare his oratory and intelligence to Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. Barack Obama will bring sanity to the great office after 8 miserable years of George Bushs’ Presidency.
