NYT Rejects McCain EssayPosted on Jul 21, 2008
Sorry, John McCain, but The New York Times doesn’t publish just any presidential candidate. A week after Barack Obama’s “My Plan for Iraq” appeared in the paper of record, a similar essay by John McCain was rejected on the grounds that it recycled attacks against his rival while offering little new information about his own war plans, according to the Drudge Report. Times Op-Ed editor David Shipley reportedly said he would “be pleased, though, to look at another draft.”

Re:Captain Marvel,
So sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t indulge in either KOS or Huffington. My own preferences for internet news is Truthout.org.
As for McCain’s rejected essay, my opinion is not based on the fact that it was the NYT that rejected it. Rather, my opinion was offered from the critical viewpoint of an academic. If McCain had tried to submit such a piece of crap in terms of an academic assignment, a kindly and tolerant professor would have said the same thing this guy from the NYT did..
DO IT OVER. REWRITE and RESUBMIT, because this is a piece of trash. There is no argument to back up any thesis because there is no thesis.
He says ‘we have to win’ and can’t even define what ‘winning’ is.
He gets an “F-”!
So do you!

Cyrena:
Brava! It is always wonderful when we agree on something. LOL.
As an aside, it is interesting to note that Obama’s piece mentions McCain three times in 12 paragraphs. McCain’s piece mentions Obama NINE times in 12 paragraphs. And only one of Obama’s mentions is blatantly “critical” (as opposed to comparatory), while almost all of McCain’s mentions of Obama are critical, if not borderline insulting.
If McCain cannot state a cogent position without having to resort to continual insults - most of which are an attempt to score political points rather than a legitimate comparison of their two positions - then he does not deserve to be published.
Peace.

Poor Poor cyrena . . . it appears that you are as easily manipulated into believing the same info manipulating tripe that has made the NYT infamous and a disingenuous publication.
Might want to try and broaden your horizons past the rhetoric and heavily edited “reporting” of The Failing Kos and Fluffington Post - try reading actual first hand accounts for a change ... such as those on mnf-iraq.com and michaelyon.com.

Herein lies the problem for McSame..same problem his clone host has had since the beginning
Shipley continues: ‘It would be terrific to have an article from Senator McCain that mirrors Senator Obama’s piece. To that end, the article would have to articulate, in concrete terms, how Senator McCain defines victory in Iraq.’
And, that’s what McSame cannot do. He can’t define a so-called ‘victory’ in Iraq. He keeps hollering that Obama wants to END the war, (yeah, thats the point) and he wants to WIN it. But, he cant say what winning it would be, since theres no such thing.
He cant START a war for one faked reason, (since terrorists didnt exist in Iraq, and that wasnt even the original lie used to start it) and then claim that a win depends on the elimination of a problem that was created by that very action.
So, whats victory in Iraq McSame? All of the terrorists just turn in their terrorist uniforms and time cards and go home? Relinquish your weapons terrorists, the wars over. And then you say, “We won.”
The Iraqi Air Force, for one, still lags behind, and no modern army can operate without air cover.
Gee, from WHOM do the Iraqis need protection in the form of air cover? al-Qaeda doesnt have an army with an Air Force.
So, McSame has proven himself, (again) to be as stupid as the shrub. Thats why they didnt accept his essay. It’s a stupid essay. It doesn’t say anything. The ‘read more’ link provides a copy of it. Anyone reading it would see that it was stupid. The local middle school paper wouldn’t publish this. Must be why he finished at the bottom of his class at the academy.
And McSame is just another dangerous moron.

First of all, Fox News would probably be more inviting to an old republican that still thinks Czechoslovakia still exist. Second, how is it that the people who got us in this Iraq mess think that they can make people believe this so called “Surge” is working. It’s still a game of wack-a-mole. Increase troop presence here, we’ll mess with you somewhere else (Afghanistan). Iran has got their pants down to their ankles mooning us while waving their uranium-middle finger at our retarded president.
