Al-Rahman Mosque, Baghdad.

The U.S. Embassy has reported that Barack Obama arrived safely in Iraq, where he is expected to meet with Gen. David Petraeus and Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The candidate is traveling with fellow Iraq war critics Sen. Jack Reed and Sen. Chuck Hagel.

AP via the International Herald Tribune:

A U.S. Embassy official said Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama arrived in Iraq on Monday where he will meet with commanders and troops in a war he has long opposed.

Obama was expected to meet Gen. David Petraeus as well as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki while in the country, although aides provided few details, citing security concerns.

Obama arrived as part of a congressional delegation that also included Sens. Jack Reed, D-R.I., and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., following stops in Kuwait and Afghanistan. The delegation met Sunday in Kuwait City with Kuwait’s emir, Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, and other senior officials, the Kuwait News Agency reported.

Obama’s visit to the Middle East, as part of a congressional delegation, in a fact finding mission is a step in the right direction, though it might be wrongly timed as a little too late.

Again, because I don’t believe in miracles performed by a one “superman,s” efforts, I don’t see how any thing seriously immediate will come out of this visit!

I’m sure he will walk casually and boldly down the boulevards and side streets of Baghdad, speaking with ordinary citizens about what they want for their country.

Its time to finalize a possible time for withdrawing US soldiers from iraq and Obama is trying to do that. What Joe liberman said is same talks as Bush. He wants war and war and wants US soldiers to die there forever. For what reason, to save Iraq with the US deaths? Or to save Israel more?
