 Tony Snow Dies at 53Posted on Jul 12, 2008
Bush’s former press secretary was never shy about his cancer, but friends and colleagues alike were surprised by the news of his death Saturday. As the president’s mouthpiece, Snow knew scorn, but he also had the respect of a number of his critics. As The Nation’s John Nichols elegizes, he brought “a measure of dignity” to the Bush administration.

I don’t want to judge Tony Snow, but it’s interesting that Bush is on his fourth press secretary since taking office. I don’t know what Ari Fleischer is doing, but Scott McClellan has written a tell-all book, and Dana Perino seems kind of non-threatening. As Jerry Seinfeld might say, “What is the deal with George Bush and press secretaries?”

Would that the hours and hours of media coverage devoted to Mr. Snow could also be devoted to each American soldier dead or mutilated in this abomination mis-called a war.
Those who speak of his great ‘compassion’ must have forgotten that as WH mouthpiece when asked about the number of killed in Iraq that week, the compassionate Tony said, “It’s just a number.”

Tony Snow lied with such good natured facility that he remained likable even while he was obviously feeding you a line of crap. He made his “journalistic” name acting as an ideological shill on Fox and moved on to be a fully time sophist--carrying deceit on behalf of his employer, at the White House.
That journalists are not condemning this man show’s where their heads are---in addition to being up there too.

God strikes Tony Snow dead. And who can blame the Almighty?
Mr. Snow used his talents to erase the line between propaganda and news and to lie to the American people whenever he stood before a microphone. He supported preemptive war against a country that did us no harm.
He defended the killing thousands of innocent men, women and children as collateral damage. He attacked those who spoke against torture, warrantless spying on our own citizens, and the elimination of due process of law.
Twisting the facts to suit a political agenda was second nature to Tony Snow. He was gleeful in his work, but his work was vile, immoral and deeply unAmerican.

Tony Snow was a family guy and seemed like an ok fellow who was pretty much a master at his job, which was, to bend, halve, skirt, distort, cover up and redefine the truth. RIP, Tone, you’re just collateral damage.
